This is where it all started – on the banks of the Rappahannock River overlooking where we grow our oysters. We like to call Merroir a “tasting room,” just so people know to expect something different. Everything is either served raw or cooked on an outdoor grill, small-plate-style, and beautifully paired with craft brews and world-famous wines. Each menu item is singularly-focused, seasonal, and ever-changing, so there’s always a surprise in store.

First time there and we’ll definitely go back. We tried multiple items on the menu and loved everything. Outside dining is the best and we had great weather for it.

Wayyy overpriced for what you get. Bruschetta was basically huge pieces of bread toasted with a pile of pico de gallo looking/tasting stuff with a few sprigs of basil - $17. Oysters were very small (raw)…$27 for a dozen - no crackers or hot sauce offered. Crab cake tasted good but had shells bitten into, served on a small amt of Cole slaw - $28! Sat outdoors…flies were ALL OVER us. Didn’t see any fly traps, bug zappers, or any other attempts at control. Overall….disappointing.

Great place to come for oysters with a view. Ceviche and other apps were just ok. Ambience was very relaxing but food less inspiring.

We love Merroir and have eaten there multiple times. The restaurant is directly on the Rappahannock River and has beautiful views. The service is always very good as is the food. I always start with raw oysters and usually get one of the specials. It’s not on the menu but you can ask for a hot dog or grilled cheese if someone in your party can’t find something they want to eat on the menu. Yesterday (after oysters) I had the crab cake and my husband had the Whitley Burger (named after a long time OUTSTANDING waitress). Lots of people hanging out with a bottle of wine. Always a good time.

Best burger I’ve had in a long time. Scallops were cooked just right. Gazpacho was delicious.
