   Went here on a date night. Food was delicious, try the Shrimp N' Grits or The Duck. The wine flight was a great way to ease into the experience, and service was top-notch!

   Loved the place. Very extensive wine list with lots of variety and wide price range. Our waiter was phenomenal! Knew his wines and his recommendations were great. Ambience was wonderful both inside and out. Heaters and firepits made a chilly spring evening comfortable for sitting outside. Plenty of outdoor ceiling fans for a breeze on warm summer nights. Some menu items weren't for me (brie, goats cheese, squid ink grits...) but there were plainer dishes for less sophisticated palettes like mine. We'll be back!

   Loved the valet parking at no additional charge. Loved the ambiance and how the restaurant looks. The food choices were unique and delicious. The wine choices and taste racks were a unique experience. Evan was a Superman. He made us feel welcomed and was very helpful. Would definitely recommend this place and would visit again.

   Jameson was an excellent server! I will say - I did call to increase our reservation for three more people - I was told by the young girl whom answered the phone that - that was impossible as all tables were full. While we dined for about 2.5 hours - there was only ONE other table of six in the room we were in (room on right from door) the main dining - bar area had about three tables. It is a shame that staff would turn away additional business.

   We had no idea the menu was so limited — we were expecting a full brunch menu & were presented instead with a 4-item menu and another small menu with very limited options. The experience was not worth the effort it took to get to the restaurant and left us with a very disappointing Mother’s Day dining experience. In addition, we had to submit to having our car parked in the restaurant parking lot which had multiple unoccupied spaces, requiring that we tip the attendant. We will never return to this restaurant.

   I spent a lot of time reading reviews and decided on this restaurant. The food was excellent! We did send a drink back that was too sweet but the waiter was very understanding. The menu had a variety of well crafted dishes! Highly recommend!

    This visit to the Mermaid was for my wedding anniversary. As usual the experience was very good. Service was great food was ok. This place is suppose to be a higher end restaurant. It is located in a city that specializes in seafood. They have two different salmon items on their menu. Surprise no salmon today the waiter says. Why it was only 6:39. You can’t be out of salmon already. This was very disappointing. My wife come here on special occasions and have always enjoyed our dinners here. The Brie appetizer was ok it was smaller than we had experienced in the past. No soup dejure no soup at all. I am not sure what is happening at Mermaid but we both were underwhelm and for the price this is not really worth it. Will probably look elsewhere for special occasions. By the way I mentioned on my reservation that it was our wedding anniversary. I am not sure why I bother the restaurant doesn’t seem to read these special occasions any way.

    6 of us enjoyed a flight each then chose a Cabernet to enjoy with dinner. The tuna nachos and calamari with a spicy sauce were the star appetizers. I could eat the nachos as a meal - so many layers of flavor! We also had the pasta with chicken, scallops, salmon stack, blackened tuna, and grilled cheese. Everything had some creative flavors that were well put together.

    Our server was also tending the bar so he was fairly busy. The lamb shank was over cooked, charred on the outside and tough to chew. No one seemed to care when we complained. I’ve had many lamb shanks and never one this bad. My husbands’ pasta was cold. We weren’t offered the dessert menu, and very disappointed there’s no after dinner coffee options.

    I love this place! My husband and I went for his birthday, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We each had a wine flight, which were very tasty. We split a bottle of Sky Sparkling Wine and a wine cheese plate, which were both delicious. We will definitely be back!

    Great food and the hostess went above and beyond to take care of us - however our server seemed to not want to check in with us. Would have ordered more wine and dessert but he never stopped back to see how we were doing. Took 20 minutes from asking for check to being able to leave and there were only 4 other tables in the entire restaurant with people at them when we left.

    I made the reservation for our real estate team. I was told we had 2 hours for the meal, the door said we had 90 minutes when we walked in. We chose this restaurant due to food allergies on our team and we have hosted other dinners here. Without being informed, we were given a very limited menu to choose from. We were not allowed to order from happy hour due to being a party of 10 or more. We asked to speak to the manager and the manager never came. Your restaurant has lost many patrons as a result of the experience. Our wait staff was phenomenal and made the best of the situation. They should be commended for doing the work of the absent manager who clearly does not have an owner’s mentality.

    They were out of the first 3 bottles of wine we ordered. Forgot to order our appetizer and delivered wrong entree. Once waiter came back he apologized and corrected but not what I was hoping for.

    The restaurant was too dark inside and the glair coming from the windows/sun made it impossible to see my guests sitting across the table from me. I also thought it would have more of a wine ambience like the pictures show on the website. The manager was wonderful!!

    Seems like the staff was a little off, and so was the food prep. The wine was very delicious and we enjoyed that. A couple of our food dishes were super Lee over salted. We had to send those back for something else. And the appetizers were tasty.

    believe Mark was our server...He was extremely attentive and everything was fantastic! however, we were bit cold and of course the tea/coffee machine was down. Maybe have extra heaters. We are not from cold regions so we are not use this frigid weather! Overall we love the entire evening and birthday queen had a great time as well the rest of the crew. Merry Christmas!     We were booked for a show at Chrysler Hall at 7:30 and decided to stop at The Mermaid Winery on the way from Virginia Beach. The wine flight of Old World Classics was well thought out and gave us an appreciation of the quality of wines that they offer. We shared a few appetizers and were pleased by the selection to choose from. We plan to come back with friends who appreciate fine wines.
