The chef is a genius! Meridia is our favorite restaurant in Hawaii
Excellent service and food. Noise level was a bit high but not too distracting.
Service was just ok.
Hostess seated us behind a wall. Didn't really ask if we like our table. Just dropped us off. She wasn't very friendly. We had driven an hour to eat there.
Server wasn't very attentive and it was hard to get her attention.
Mai Tai was just ok. Not as good as the Mai Tai's on Maui with the Pineapple foam and it also seemed to lack some of the classic ingredients of dark rum and Orgeat.
Steak was fine but nothing that knocked our socks off.
3 out of 5 stars is appropriate
We dine at Meridia regularly, it is the best restaurant on the island. (We live in the area.) Outstanding and unique dishes, and exceptionally good service. The wait staff is very knowledgeable of the dishes, and easily answer all the questions you might have. I was not very happy with my wine, it was very warm and obviously was not kept in a wine cooler, so I would recommend ordering a bottle of wine instead of a glass of wine.
We ordered 4 dishes and all were subpar. They all came out cold. The Prosciutto Flatbread was the worst. Drenched in overly sweet fig juice which dominated any other flavor. The Prosciutto was baked into the Flatbread and dried out instead of adding after baking. Also literally forgot the cheese. The ciopino dish with clams was ok but didn't have the polenta breadcrumbs and was cold. The chicken stuffed thing also cold with congealed cheese. The octopus was decent but again everything arrived after clearly having sat out for a while.
They also tried to seat us inside as the only indoor table in the restaurant when the whole point of paying the overpriced amounts for the terrible food is to have the ocean view and ambiance.
This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in several years. The view is nice but would just go to the pool or more casual restaurant and get the same view earlier in the day with better food.
Marita was our most excellent, helpful and attentive server. Being on a vegan (plant based) diet we plan ahead as much as possible. Meridia offered many vegetable side dishes that were tasty and served as starters for us. We enjoyed the cauliflower steak dish that was dressed and bursting with many different vegetables and flavors and the chef modified the mushroom risotto to exclude butter...was delicious! Thank you Marita and Meridia.
We ordered a plethora of appetizers that were all totally fabulous...from the oysters to the daily special flatbread ...totally tasty & the service was top shelf!
We had a great meal with excellent service. The wine list is deep, but a little pricey.
I felt as if I was 3rd class, seated alone in the back of the restaurant. Service overlooked that I had no beverages that I had ordered ahead when food was delivered. I arrived on time but waited much longer for a table than those who had arrived 30 minutes in advance of their reservation. The first course of the tasting menu did not present well, running together and almost sliding off the plate entirely as they served it. It would not take that much more effort to bump to 5 stars though; just a bit more attention to the customer experience.
Absolutely wonderful experience!!! Food was superb!! Service was professional and pleasant!! Ocean view was spectacular watching the sun set while enjoying our evening!!!
Food was excellent - so sad with all the new renovations the Westin did on landscaping and new pools (fabulous) that they did not not do more upates on the main interior of the restaurant
Loved the food and Service. I will definitely recommend it to others!
The food was wonderful..... We thought muchit was better , with healthier portions than Manta at Moana Kea Hotel that is the hot spot. They have a limited number of outdoor view tables and we first got seated at an undesirable and busy table between the bar and the servers workstation. It's a pricey meal and we insisted on being moved. Because of that we never heard from or saw our server after we ordered food. The support crew brought us food in perfect times but there was nothing from our server . Luckily it didn't stop us from enjoying an excellent meal and amazing view if Hapuna Beach.
Always loved this place when it was Hapuna Grill and still love it as Meredia. It’s where we celebrate birthdays
Love this restaurant!! Greeted with warm smiles from the amazing and friendly staff from when we walked in till we left. We ordered the ahi/sashimi style flatbread special, pumpking soup and the Pork Milanase! Absolutely delicious. Beautiful sunset topped off a very beautiful!
Having over the years dined at highly rated restaurants, we expect the dining experience at restaurants to approximate the rating. My Ahi entree was very good but my wife’s Seared Scallops were tough to cut on our first visit. On our second visit to Meridia the Frito Misto was uninspiring even though the Wild Boar Ragu was excellent. Meridia probably deserves a 3.5 rating rather than its current 4.6 rating
Food was just ok, overpriced and not well prepared. Steak was so chewy, flatbread was dry .
The appetizers we choose were very good. My chicken was a little dry and disappointing. Disappointed with the Cosmopolitan I ordered. Do not know why they can very so much at different bars. I specified to please use Grey Goose and Cointreau in my drink but it was a little bitter. Think they did not use cranberry juice but possibly a mixer.
The evening, food, service, and location were WONDERFUL. Cannot think of anything that was even close to being a negative. Look forward to returning very soon.
It's a restaurant we frequently visit. It helps that we live in the same resort area, but that's not the main reason. The deciding factor is that Meridia is the best restaurant on the island. Very unique and innovative food paired with outstanding service.
Wonderful, friendly service. Very accommodating!! Food was worth every penny!! Went on Monday for their special Monday thing- it was mango themed and incredible!!!
Beautiful views, great service and fresh, delicious and unique food. Can’t wait to return!
Tasting menu was so good and fresh. Loved this spot!
Service was indifferent. Food dropped waiter never checked back to see if it was ok. Wanted lime and salt and pepper and no one in sight. No one refreshing water or drinks. My food was delivered with sauce and we requested sauce on side. My partner had to eat alone and it was 15 min till new food brought. Menu was great food was pretty good but I don’t know if I’d go back for the $$$$
Our server was great, the view was great and the food was good.
Food was fairly good but speed of service was slow and quality generally only fair. It took 50 minutes to receive our entree after a 20 minute wait for appetizer and late seating. Waitress described a completely different special fish than what was delivered to us. Never checked back to see how our food was. Whole dinner took 2 hours and we skipped dessert they were so far behind.
My wife and I live full-time on the Big Island. We regularly dine at all of the island's fine-dining restaurants. Meridia consistently serves some of the tastiest and beautifully presented food. The service is always outstanding as is the beautiful ocean-front location.
Food was very bland. Need to have more vegetarian/vegan options. Beautiful location!
Location is beautiful. That said, quality of tables varies dramatically (view, ambiance ). We were there during a non busy evening but table was meh. Server was really nice but had too many tables to juggle hence it was slow to get everything- from food to drinks. There was also a kitchen incident which delayed orders. Taste of food and drink was good and presentation was fine. However, given an average $100 per person average (that includes 2 teens who didn’t drink alcohol)and that it took us 2.5 hours to get through everything without even having dessert, I would opt out of going here again.
We LOVED Aunty Judy!!! She is the Best!!!
The Price Family
The building is spectacular. The food was delicious, especially the rack of lamb, which was an enormous portion and really tender. Our server has been with the hotel for 26 years and the service was excellent. Our only objection was that the lighting for the tables outside after dark was really inadequate for senior eyes. Next time we will go earlier or bring flashlights!
Went here for a date night while on vacation with the family. We weren’t staying at the resort, just wanted a romantic spot to get away for the evening and thought we’d give it a shot. Typical of resort restaurants, the “green salad” was mostly beans and the main offerings could’ve come from anywhere - simply weren’t impressed by the food. The atmosphere was acceptable but the half mile hike from the parking area through the property without signage didn’t help. Fine if you are staying at the resort but wouldn’t go back otherwise.
We live in the resort area where this restaurant is located, and we eat at Meridia regularly. I mean regularly! I am a former Director of Food & Beverage, so I know a thing or two about the business, and I probably have higher standards about food and beverage than most others. We never had any issues at this restaurant, not with the food, and not with the service. It is the best restaurant on the island. Obviously, it is not for the budget-minded, but if cost is not a concern for you than this is your place. I did not give it five-star overall, because as Bobby Bare said, "on the scale of one to ten, there ain't no ten", but this place certainly is a 9.9999.
Ambience was not good. Staff felt untrained. The overall look felt like you were in a cafeteria at a hotel. Tables felt dirty. My food was all right. My husband‘s food was not good. Definitely expected more upscale Decour from a newly renovated hotel. Need to work on the ambience
The waitress was ok but the food was not as advertised and overpriced. Even though we had an online reservation, we were seated inside at a table with constant traffic flow of waiters and guests, with empty tables outside in much more desirable locations. Very disappointed in our selection of this restaurant.
We loved that the chef really seems to celebrate locally grown seasonally vegetables. Our meal was delicious and the sunset views were amazing.
Beautiful outdoor setting. Exceptional service and delicious food. A perfect evening out in tropical paradise.
Wonderful seafood experience . Attentive service and creative cuisine and great location over the ocean!
The service was very slow. We were a party of four and it took 15 minutes for a server to take our drink orders. It took 20 minutes to get the drinks. 3 out of the 4 drinks were made incorrectly and it took at least 15 minutes before we could find our server to take them back. Finally, our salads were served at the same time as the entrees.
