The wait staff was disorganized and the waitress kept getting my drink order wrong. Food was good. Will try again once the Covid requirements ease up.
We had am awesome experience- the food was fabulous, service was great! Highly recommend!!!
Service needs some work. It took a lot time for the food to come out, which would be understandable if it was more crowded in the restaurant. Drinks also took a very long time to make.
- The food was pretty good, and the bartender and several others who brought the food out were great. They even stepped in when our waitress didn't know how to pour wine, but you could tell they didn't want to overstep.
- Well designed space with a unique vibe.
- Our waitress was awful. She was nice, but we had to ask her to clear plates/fill water glasses/clear empty drinks multiple times, it took 30 minutes to get our drinks or more each round, and she didn't know anything about the food or drink selection. Remember that it is at a reduced capacity, so she only had 2 other tables. For example, she came back 4 times to get a scotch order. We even spelled it for her and counted how many from the left on the shelf. She finally grabbed someone else because she still couldn't get it right. We finally started going up to the bar, and it took less than 5 minutes to get our drinks. He was nice, knowledgeable and made great drinks.
- Even if our waitress was new, the manager should not have her waiting tables by herself. She needs training... badly.
- They had the news channels on the two TVs we faced which is unpleasant and not what most people want at a nice restaurant.
Very cute restaurant. We came for brunch. The food was very good, but portions were on the smaller side. The service was not very good. The waiter seemed to be confused and frazzled. Food and drinks took quite some time to come out. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to them experiencing reopening issues post Covid. I would go back.
When we arrived the restaurant was closed even though we had a confirmation from OpenTable. They could have at least emailed us.
Service was great, food was good if a bit overpriced ($8.00 for eight tiny donut “holes”). But music was out of control loud, especially for Sunday brunch. We literally could not hear the people across the table from us.
I would probably recommend but the service was really sub-par. This could be a great restaurant if the servers were better trained and attentive.
Very nice first time experience. Service was excellent and food was good. I’m sure we will be back.
Good menu, wouldn’t recommend taking kids, food took awhile to get served.
The food was not particularly good, with the exception of the lamb lollipops. They were delicious! My friend and I both ordered an Asian noodle salad that was absolutely tasteless. We asked for more dressing and that did help some. I think they had actually forgotten the dressing , but it still was mediocre compared to many delicious salads I have had around town.
Great place, with a fun atmosphere. We will be back!
Valentine's day spent here. We went for the prix fixe menu. It was tasty and well portioned (not large). We had a lovely cabernet with this menu. The wine menu is light but we liked what we got. We were recommended this place by some regulars. It is in the hood and we will add to our rotation. The main menu looks fun with many shareable plates.
For Valentine’s Day, I was picturing a bit calmer music. We walked in with Nikki Minaj playing for a sit down dinner. I think they need to figure out if they want more of a nice dinner experience or bar scene experience.
Our waiter was incredible though, and the food was incredible.
First time here me and my girlfriend came for Valentine’s Day. Very cool place, great music and food. Will definitely come back.
We were there for Sunday Brunch. Yummy mimosas. The French Toast bites were delicious. The egg frittata was so good. Service quick. Cozy ambiance reminiscent of a boat house.will be back.
Sat downstairs, great atmosphere, great drinks, great service!
Was there for my birthday brunch celebration, it was absolutely perfect! Great service — and that alone makes the difference.
Thank you Merchant House.
Date night after being away on business for two weeks. Love the food, drinks and atmosphere. The service is always excellent.
Was fine for a one-time-only visit. Nothing impressed me enough to lead me to believe I’ll ever return. Had the fish and chips as the recommended “best thing on the menu”. Aside from the way too many “chips” and too little “fish” it just didn’t have a great taste. Atmosphere was best part of the experience.
I really like brunch or late lunch here. The cocktails are awesome. Good service and tasty food.
We made reservations for 9pm on NYE. I was called the night before and reminded of the prefix menu for the evening. We arrived a little before 9pm and it was as if no one knew we were coming. They added some chairs to a booth to accommodate us. We then found out all menu options were available which we were happy with. We placed our order at approximately 9:30 and did not receive one food item until 10:30. The restaurant was not overly busy by any stretch of the imagination. All staff was very friendly, just very ill-prepared it seemed. At 10:30 when we received our food, we sent several dishes back because they were not warm. The atmosphere has SO much potential for this to be an outstanding place, but unfortunately was not a good first impression at all.
I went here with my best friend for New Years and I was not disappointed. Amazing drinks and awesome food. Tyler took great care of us and was professional all night!!!
Sadly this restaurant is missing the mark. Had potential, but lacks structure, organized service and kitchen and an overall level of experience and thoughtful delivery and identity.
Our poor waiter was bussing, serving, taking orders, filling water glasses all by himself
On New Year’s Eve?
No sign of a manager, no sign of experience in food service, now ownership and very flustered staff.
Food was average. The Salad looked and tasted like a spring mix from Whole Foods and the quail was frozen, thawed and doused in some sauce.
I’m sorry that what could have been a great concept will probably not survive, unless attention to aggressively turn on the details that matter occur .
The ambience and look and feel were great and welcoming!
This is becoming on of my favorite restaurants. Every time I come I am always blown away.
Staff so lovely - food forgettable
Just happened upon this place on Saturday and LOVED it! Such a cute and relaxed atmosphere. Great wine and delicious food. Can't wait to go back again soon and try another dish!
Absolutely terrible service. Hostess was awful. Table not ready even though restaurant not full. Waited long time for drinks. Then waited longer to order meals. When drinks and food arrived, servers had no idea who received what. Then asked if we wanted new silverware after we had used what we had for appetizers. Menu is limited at dinner. Overall just a terrible experience. We will never return. The sooner Merchant House goes out of business, the better. Thanks.
Not a lot of food selections but enough for a dining experience. Attentive service, nice interior with vaulted 2 story space.
Parking is nearby.
The staff was attentive but did not pressure or rush us.
This is now our favorite restaurant, and we will be back often.
Totally disappointed in this super cute place!! I had such high expectations and they were not met. The drinks were good, the service was mediocre, the apps were yummy but our entrees were terrible.
Drinks- Try the Shipwreck (prepare to wait for drinks- they were super slow and not super busy)
Apps- Donuts 👍🏽, Mac and Crab fritters 👍🏽, candied bacon 👍🏽👍🏽
Meals- Chicken and Waffles 👎🏽👎🏽 The chicken was good but the waffles were burnt. I sent them back, they came back cold, hard, and still burnt- Crab Benedict 👎🏽👎🏽 Nothing on this plate is fresh besides the avocado- everything was frozen, fried, and still cold.
Ambience- 😍👍🏽 Super cute old house redone into a restaurant. Love that they have their own parking! I’d come back for a happy hour, but never again for a meal!
Great local joint with unique options.
Visited on a cold rainy Monday night. Parking was easy and there were not many people dining upon our 8 pm arrival. Waitress was pleasant and made suggestions that were spot on. Atmosphere was cozy and we thoroughly enjoyed the music that was being played. We were able to watch the game on the large tv screens, vibe to the music and still have conversation.
We ordered the Goguchang Shrimp, Fish and Chips, and a couple drinks (Vodka Orchard—tasty and the others lips my memory). THE BEST Fish & Chips in Dallas, hands down! Shrimp was served over polenta and was also very flavorful.
After dinner we took a stroll upstairs to check out the moody uniqueness of the “house”. We found a spacious patio and charming layout, with several conversation pits and another bar just off-center of the room. Since our visit, we’ve been trying to come up with an occasion to rent the place—very neat spot!
We were so enjoying ourselves that we forgot to take photos, but we will definitely be returning!
Service was great, ambiance was good, food was fine. Maybe we didn’t pick the right food items- we had Mac and crab fritters, salmon salad, crab queso, and caprese salad. The caprese salad was my favorite thing! Maybe it was lobster and not crab. You would think i would remember that from the taste...
Great crab cakes, superb burger (IKR), and rib eye.
Ask for the catbird box. You get a private balcony overlooking the downstairs portion of the restaurant.
Service was great!! Will definitely be back with friends and family!
Met friends for brunch and basically worked our way down the left side of the menu, sharing plates. Add the Bloody Mary sampler and I was full for about six hours. Awesome playlist, great service and over the top interesting and yummy food. I’m so happy I found this place on Open Table!!!
Service was fantastic. You could tell everyone was excited about the food! The food itself was very unique and very tasty, and our cocktail was unlike anything I had tried before. A great way to end a work trip!
