The drinks were outstanding and I loved that they had mocktail versions we could pick from so despite the fact my friend and I were not drinking we felt like we could still really be in the experience. The menu was tasty - we liked the dumplings the best and the food came out quickly.

The food here is decent overall. I enjoyed my meal. If a friend said, “Hey, I really like Merai. Want to eat there?” I’d say okay. But I probably wouldn’t be the one to suggest it myself. My favorite item was the taro fries. I also liked the curry sauce that came with the crab croquettes, though the croquettes themselves weren’t great. The pork dumplings were a hit. The crudo was just okay. The shrimp tempura was a strong no thank you. The bar didn’t have any citrus juice, so don’t expect a fun summer cocktail. The whiskey selection was unusual—none of the marquee names aside from Angel’s Envy, which I’m personally bored with. So there you have it. Go if you’re curious. You won’t leave hungry, but it’s no Mahaniyom.

The food and service were great. However, the noise level was unbearable. I could not carry on a conversation with the person across the table from me. The reason was that a group of six people came in and were at the bar. The bar is in the dining room. They were extremely loud, screaming to each other (though talking voice would have sufficed) and doing shots. I asked the host if they could say something (as this is primarily a dining room). I just hoped they could diplomatically as them to lower the volume slightly. Without hesitation the host said no. We left as soon as we were done our food. Didn’t order any more food or drinks.

The entire experience was amazing! The bartender was so lovely, the drinks were awesome, and the food came out at a great pace.

Wonderful food and service. It's a bit pricey with small plates for sharing but worth the cost.

Outstanding food and drinks and hospitality at Merai!! The waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and kind. Our party of 4 shared 8 different small plates, and we devoured every bite. The menu is terrific with something for everyone. We had a lovely table for 4 in the front of the restaurant. If it's your first time, know that the noise level can be pretty intense.

Loved everything about the experience — from the food and drink to the bathroom decor — but wish the noise volume had been 10% lower
