Mix non veg platter, the meats were dry. The chutney was watery, the pakora were cold and dry over all I would not recommend.

I had lunch there and the food and service were excellent. I prefer mildly spicy and it was just right. Prices were very reasonable for lunch. A nice addition to the neighborhood! The naan was super good and had a nice garlic flavor.

Friendly, pleasant, clean, airy. Delicious food. Smallish portions and low prices. Two people had lunch for under $15.

Ambiance is pretty "local"/takeout oriented, but that doesn't make the food any less good. We could see it is clearly a take-out favorite. Did I tell you we had really good food?

Mehak does not offer the very best Indian food I've ever had but it does over very good food at a price level that makes it one of the very best deals I can remember. If you want to treat your family of four (or more) to great Indian food without buyers remorse, this is the place. My only doubt about the place was the mango lassi, which seemed so neon bright, smooth, and sugary sweet that I wondered if it was made from an instant mix. Note: Mehak does not adjust the "heat scale" for Western pallets (and egos). I'm not afraid of ghost chili sauce but took their advice to start with "medium" rather than "spicy" and was glad I did. I could have handled something just a tad over medium but not much hotter.

The Lamb Coconut, Chicken Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala were all great. Our server was very accommodating with our allergies and dietary needs. We will be back!

The gem of a culinary experience was a great surprise! The position next to a seedy liquor store should not deter you from going to eat here! The food was really well-done and all their attention to the detail of our party (one wants mild, the other wants spicy) was really well-received. I brought some less adventurous eaters from the Midwest and they REALLY enjoyed everything. The Chicken Tikka was particularly yummy! Everyone at this place is friendly and smiling. You also walk away with an urge to come back and try even more selections from the menu! I'll be back the next time I am in Berkeley. Even though there are tons of Indian restaurants from which to choose, this one is a keeper!
