Our first visit to McGregor’s Butcher Bistro. Service was friendly, professional and very attentive. Our dinners were well presented and delicious. We are looking forward to a return to the Bistro.

Enjoyed dinner on a Sunday evening here so was a little quiet. When walking up was hard to tell if open. I’m sure much more crowded other nights. Service was great. Good recommendations and friendly staff. Good was excellent. Had the steak flight which was fun to try three different cuts. Steak was cooked perfectly. We also had the mushroom ravioli which tasted great. We will definitely go again. Probably the best restaurant we have eaten at in south Johnson county.

Second time at McGregors, and again, we had a fantastic evening. Food was perfect! Probably the best thing about McGregor's is the exceptional service,bith at the bar and during our meal.

The place was not decorated very nice, but the food was good, and the drinks were the most expensive drinks I’ve ever had before. Very overpriced.

First visit to McGregor's. Plan to come back for Tuesday Burger Night! Our server was outstanding!! I was there with 2 friends celebrating all 3 of our birthdays and our server made it a very special lunch for us.

McGregor's provides excellent food. The quality of their meat is superior and it is prepared exactly how you want it. Their sides, salads, and soups are top-notch as well. Thankfully, I was able to sample many different dishes with my group. The only "let down" with the meal was the ambiance. They can't escape the layout of the building without investing big $$$ into a major renovation and upgrade. Do they need to do it? No. Would it be nice? Sure. I rarely say this but it would be better if it was busy. The hustle and bustle would add energy to a decore that does not have it on its own. But GO! Enjoy the food. Take a group of friends and have a great time.

This is the best restaurant in the area in a long time. We are delighted to have it here in south OP. Love that it is in a strip shopping center - very unassuming, but very special! Support this and enjoy, OP!

With my reservation, I added a couple of silly requests that I knew my partner would enjoy, like requesting a framed picture of a panda and to tell him he "looks good for his age", and not only did they do that, they decorated the table with TWO pictures, some fun confetti, a PANDA CARD SIGNED BY THE STAFF, and then 5 and 0 candles. The food was really good, but the service is what made our evening. Tom was our waiter, and he was funny and so helpful and kind. We had a wonderful evening and can't wait to go back. Thank you!!

Tuesday McGregor's has a burger special that includes fries and a beer for $15. Not only was it a bargain, but the food was delicious!

The quality of service did not match the high prices on the menu. The hostesses were very disorganized and our server was fine but not great. The food was fine but not outstanding. Not worth the price, based on this one experience.

Understaffed. No one to greet at door. Out of menu items. Disappointing as we had previously had a good experience there. No acknowledgment that it was a birthday dinner even though it was denoted on reservation. Failed at delivering the basic standards for the price point.

This is a gem of a restaurant! Their filets were the best we've had in KC area, and the Duroc pork chop was tender and delicious. Server was excellent--friendly and knowledgeable. On a Sunday evening, there was a sparse crowd. I hope our review encourages more to try this place. You will not be disappointed! Some might consider it pricey, but the entire experience was worth it.

First time visit. All six of us were very impressed just walking in the door. Tom, our waiter, was very helpful in helping choose our meals and took time to explain the special events held at the restaurant and the freshness of the food. The meat comes from the butcher shop adjacent. We visited for lunch and had great choices for a Saturday menu. Each meal was beautifully presented and delicious. I especially enjoyed the mushroom ravioli with meatballs. Definitely a "we'll be back" experience.

Our server was amazing, the ambience was perfect, and they made for the best anniversary dinner. We've had in a very long time. We've been married 23 years and have had a lot of anniversary dinners. This one was perfect. Thanks to the owner and the staff and the management team, and the service staff. Kudos on all levels.

Meat was really good and good wine/drink list. Salad was described as roasted beets and candied pecans, but what it was just plain beets and plain pecans. And mashed potatoes were terrible and dry. Server was super nice and offered scallop potatoes and they were better but it was a weird scalloped potato casserole that clearly has been made awhile ago and just reheated. But I will say the steaks were fantastic.

First time for my group to dine with McGregor's. We chose 3 different entrees. and all 3 parties were happy. I chose the 3 steak option but the strip was very firm and not as good as the filet and ribeye but overall, a very good experience.

Overall, everyone in the party of 4 thought the food was excellent. I ordered some (4) oysters to start, which did not come out until well after the salads came, and one of which should have ben tossed vs. being served. The other couple had a Beet Salad and we ordered the Caesar Salad to start, both of which were terrific. My S.O. and I had the steak flight and they were all cooked perfectly and were some of the best steaks that we have had at any restaurant. The other couple had the Mushroom Risotto and the French dip and enjoyed both. The sandwich is huge!! Thought I would start with the food. We ordered cocktails which took a long time to arrive, same with reorders. We had to hunt a server down a couple of times to get extra water, etc. and to handle some other minor issues. Smooth these issue out and it would have been a 5 across the board. We will definitely go back and also are going to stop by to get some of the steaks from the adjoining market!!

This was our first time at McGregor's - 2 couples. We tried the onion rings to get started and because my husband loves onion rings. These were mediocre at best - typical heavy breading and not all that different from Sonic. They need to work on this item so skip it for now. We ordered the Scottish Salmon on lentils, filet medallions and the 8 oz fillet - all very good. The steaks were all wonderful; very tasty and tender. All steak entrees are a la carte but some of the others entrees come with additional sides. One thing two of us noticed about the medallions was that the salt seasoning was not uniform across all three pieces and a few bites were overly salty. The baked potato was delicious fully loaded including chives. The crispy brussel sprouts were delicious and plentiful for the table to share. Desserts ordered were the seasonal apple cobbler with ice cream and the donut holes served with 3 dipping sauces. Apple cobbler was average, as were the donut holes. Donut holes were light and fluffy. However the sugar and cinnamon coating was a bit overpowering. They brought each table complimentary shortbread cookies made from the owner's family recipe - these were very good. They should add these to the dessert menu served with a scoop of ice cream. Service was just right and allowed for a nice leisurely meal. The owner visited our table twice to make sure all was satisfactory which was a nice touch. Unlike many restaurant these days, the noise level was very manageable and allowed for conversation despite all tables being full. Prices are on the high side making this place more of a go to for a special occassion or infrequently. Total bill for 4 people (before tip) including 4 glasses of wine and one martini was $324. I would highly recommend McGregor's; just bring a fat wallet.

We ate lunch there recently. Since then, I’ve told several couples about it. The dining room was dark (as in romantic), cozy and the music was soft - rare these days. There were 4 of us, and we had everything from steak to soup to salad for our entrees. My husband wanted to try their steak before we went to the butcher shop next door. This place is a gem. Please look at their online menu, so you’ll know what to expect. I can’t wait to go back.

McGregor's was a great environment to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere was friendly, service was on point and gave great recommendations, and the food was very satisfying. It is apparent they give a lot of thought to the overall combination of food, drink and environment. We'll definitely be back to try some of the other menu items they have to offer.

The first time we dined here, we were excited. The food was outstanding as was the service. We went back a second time and we were dissappointed. Despite a reservation, for which we showed up 10 min early, we had to wait over 30 minutes for our table. The servers were great, but they were over stretched. The food was good but not outstanding as last time. We will give them one more shot in the future.

Tried this spot at the recommendation of a friend for our anniversary and had a great experience. You wouldn’t know it from the front but the back restaurant area is nice and comfortable. The steak flight caught my husbands attention before we got there and didn’t disappoint, especially with all the extras it came with. For our anniversary we were given celebratory glasses of champagne as well as a complimentary dessert which was a nice touch. Our waiter, Devon, mentioned it was his first day solo after training and we never would’ve known - he was attentive, professional, and provided great recommendations. We’ll definitely be back!
