love their menu, had been there a few times and will be back again soon !
We loved our experience; menu and service were excellent!
Went there for dinner on my birthday. Enjoyable evening. Food was good. Not exceptional, but good. Service was good as well.
We've been here often and enjoy the wait staff and the menu but tonight, our anniversary, the menu really outdid itself. I had the most incredibly delicious, perfectly done and perfectly selected Ahi Tuna sesame crusted. It was fantastic. The ambiance is very nice although the decor is sans tablecloths. Unfortunately when we arrived there was a family with a noisy child who apparently disrespected other diners as they made no attempt to quiet or remove the child. Fortunately they were at dessert and once they left, the restaurant returned to its usual compatible for conversation and nice dining atmosphere. Also love the Christmas decor when that season is around. We never feel rushed but when need be, we have been accommodated with quicker service. For our anniversary, they let us linger and enjoy the evening for a long time.
The food was excellent. The restaurant was not too loud, so it was great for a dinner with family members whom we had not seen in a few years. The service was good but not great.
we will be back again, foods are great !
Great location for dinner, parking is convenience.
We went to Date night at the restaurant and really enjoyed it. We hope they do that again. Thanks!
All was great EXCEPT the Ahi Sushi style that was highly recommended. Two of us ordered it. The spices that came on it were much too "hot". I have ordered Ahi Sushi at many, many different restaurants. Never has it come spicy like that. The Wasabi in the soy sauce is for adding spice, if desired. It was quite dissapointing.
Everything else was great.
Food was very tasty it seemed a longer than normal time between apps entre’s and dessert but it did give us time to chat and socialize so quick no but if you are looking for a place to have a relaxing social or intimate dinner - definitely a good choice
Desserts were awesome
This place is worst than outback not worthy of the McCormick & Schmick’ name. Waiter Jeffrey could not have been more rude and grumpy
I've been a big fan of this restaurant and I'm sorry they have closed. I could walk there from work for business lunches, and that is no more. Thanks for the great meals.
Nothing wrong with the place but everything was just average. I was not going there to experience fine dining but was wanting more up-to-date ambiance. I will go back but now I know what to expect.
We went to this location for a New Year's Eve dinner, and I was incredibly disappointed by our experience. Our server moved slowly and mixed up multiple orders and then complained to us when we asked for the mistakes to be corrected. She left us without silverware for nearly 10 minutes after our entrees had been delivered. I've been to numerous McCormick and Schmick's locations in Washington state and have always had a wonderful experience; this evening, however, left a terrible taste in our mouths, and I would not recommend the Irvine location.
Disappointed in a special holiday menu and not able to order from regular menu. Did not care for the choices. The girl who seated us was rude. We specified in our reservation we wanted a window table and did not want a high traffic area or be by waiter service area. So, she attempted to seat us directly in front of waiter stand on outside aisle. When we objected the response was “this is a restaurant and there will always be high traffic.” We asked for the empty window booth away from main aisle
In interior of room. Not sure why host or hostess does not read guest request. On a positive note the ahi was very good.
My 'gripes' are only minimal so I only deducted one star. But here they are for the interested reader: (1) I called the restaurant prior to booking my reservation for New Year's Eve to determine if they had a fixed menu or if we could order off the menu. I was told we could order off the menu. This was important because I'm on a special diet so I looked up the menu online the morning of our reservation and arrived at the restaurant with my menu choices made. Miscommunication: We ordered off a menu alright....a prix fixed menu.....which DID NOT include any of the items I was looking forward to; and (2) my mashed potatoes were lukewarm at best -- butter did not melt on them. In spite of these minor complaints, all four of us in our party did enjoy our experience because our waiter was EXCELLENT. I don't recall his name now but I did make sure at the time that the manager knew how great he was.
We went for a New Year’s Eve dinner because my company gave me a Landry’s gift certificate.
We aren’t fish people so we ordered the filet. The server did not provide a steak knife, the meat was burned on the outside, and worst of all tasted like fish. Must have been cooked on the same grill as all their fish. It was tough and tasteless which is hard to do with a filet. The mushrooms my husband ordered were rubbery, the coffee was cold and bitter and my iced tea never got refilled. The bread was warm and good though.
We called after to complain and were refunded our gift certificate but ended up still paying almost $90 for a sub-par meal. The manager chastised us for not saying something at the time but we didn’t want to make a scene on New Years and frankly so much was wrong there was no way they could have made it right.
This place needs an overhaul!
Ambiance is really nice, like an old time Steakhouse. Food however, is average and not worth the prices. We had steaks, which were good, but for the money, there are better options. Also had the truffle fries, which were definitely fries, but nothing "truffle" about them. The whole experience was average, but at a premium price. Other than for lunch grabbing a salad or burger maybe, I wouldn't put this on the must check out list.
The service was very welcoming. The food was delicious and the toasted sourdough bread basket was awesome.
Seafood is amazing. Always fresh. Love the variety of daily specials.
The service was almost perfect, very attentive except after the main course arrived. My medium rare tuna turned out to rare. I understand tuna should be rare, but you are able to order Medium-rare, which it wasn't. It took 20 minutes to rectify the situation and it came Well Done. You know for a supposed upscale restaurant, this place may want to reconsider. They didn't even offer dessert because of the error.
We have been to this location many times, but this time we went for a Christmas dinner, and our server Seth made the evening very special for us. Very professional service. Gave the proper amount of attention without being a nuisance, yet we never had to wait for him if we needed something, (not always easy to do). They took care of special requests without delaying any meals, and all the food was properly prepared and hot. This turned out to be a perfect evening and may become a tradition.
We were a party of 4, 3 ordered steaks well done, one of the steaks was mostly pink!!!
Christmas Day dinner was awesome and service was excellent
Glad to find a very "fine" top rated restaurant open on Christmas day. Wonderful ambiance, very quiet, great service and excellent food.
My mahi-mahi was bland no flavor, it was good though cooked. My veg no flavor either. My husband had a steak and his was good, my son and grandson had steaks and they thought theirs were good. The Menu did not offer enough variations.
A great place for dinner on Christmas Eve.
I was VERY late making dinner reservations for Christmas Eve dinner - My Bad (and I heard about it from the wife and daughter).
So I did a quick search for upper end steakhouses and found McCormicks - Irvine.
Reservations thru Open Table - very smooth.
Seated very promptly.
The food was excellent.
Service was VERY slow and we hardly ever saw our waiter. He took our drink order, brought our drinks and bread, took our food order, took our dessert order and dropped off the check. We did not see him any other time. My wife, daughter and I were VERY, VERY disappointed with the service we received (i.e. did not receive) at this restaurant.
We will NOT be recommending this restaurant to our friends and we will NOT be returning.
The lobster bisque was incredible. The Chilean sea bass was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable and personable. We plan to visit again soon.
We celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary with family. The evening was wonderful, the service and meal was great!
The appetizer “shrimp kisses” was delicious. I ordered the shrimp/crab stuffed salmon with a side of lobster mash, it was delectable. My fiancé ordered the crab stuffed lump shrimp which was delicious as well.
This restaurant is always clean, on time, respectful and the food is amazing!
We were disappointed in the quality of the Kobe beef burger and Chicken entrees. The chicken was thinly pounded and burned to a crisp on both sides. The pasta side was clearly stiff and had simply been under a heat lamp. Oh well.
We were seated and it took almost 10 minutes for someone to come to the table to welcome us and take a drink order. Another 10 minutes to get our drinks. I had to ask for bread. He never introduced himself either. Not a real outgoing guy. The Mahi-mahi was dry and for the corn bisque not enough to get a taste. The ladies bathroom was a mess, one sink had no towels to dry my hands. Oh and it was not even that busy. With so many other choices why would I return. Might want to pick up the customer service skills.
I think the restaurant must have been understaffed. After we had been seated for 15 minutes, my son told the hostess that no wait staff had yet acknowledged us. She apologized profusely, but it took another 15 minutes for the waiter to finally come to our table to ask about water and drinks. 😒😒 We often go to this restaurant for holidays and special occasions. I’ve never seen such poor service there before.
Perhaps an off night...
Pacing was very uneven. Drinks were not especially cold. Soup took too long to arrive, was good, but lukewarm. The oysters took way too long, we were not finished with them before the meals arrived. The medium rare steaks were medium and the medium well steak was well done, the Sea Bass was excellent. Desert took the better part of 20 minutes to arrive.
A great birthday dinner for my wife and our family. Missed our favorite server Jeff as he was working a banquet, but Michael our server did a great job. Food was perfect as ususal starters to desert.
service was great. Nice round table for 8. Made for a great social business dinner.
Had a disagreement @ the restaurant with the server . The food was poor quality ...
One of the best on OC for all types of fish. Always good
The food was very good. My date and I sought to only order entrees to save a little bit of money and because we had a performance to go to shortly after. However, we ended up unknowing ordering extra sides. After ordering our entrees each, the waitress asked if we wanted a salad or soup. Because of how it was phrased, we chose one of the listed options but assumed it was included with the meal. When I received the bill, I realized the salad and soup were over eight dollars each. Despite being good sides, we would not have ordered them if we knew they were not included and costed that amount. I felt silly for not asking if the sides offered were included, but I also cannot help but feel important information was omitted. The sides were good but not worth an extra sixteen bucks.
Beware that if they list options to you, they may not just be asking which one you would like; they may be asking whether you want to make an extra purchase.
