Overall everything is wonderful and we love Spencer’s. He’s an amazing waiter.
I had reservations for 2 on Sunday as date night plans. We arrived and were promptly seated, which is great.
However, once seated, we were never addressed, welcomed, or even acknowledged. The server visited the three other occupied tables in the whole section and walked past our table numerous times. After thirty minutes, we decided we would get up and leave, as we STILL were waiting to just have our glasses filled with water.
The waterfront view is gorgeous at this location. I've dined at several M&S locations but this view is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, that's where all the praises end. I celebrated my birthday dinner and the food left much to be desired. My hope is that it was due to the late dining experience (10:30pm) and the restaurant was closing within the hour as to why our meals were so terrible. My first red flag should've been when the wait staff stood across from us and loudly argued about who's turn it was to serve. That lasted for about 10-15mins before a gentleman came and introduced himself. I guess he lost the argument. We waited another 15 mins for our drinks, which normally wouldn't be a problem but we were the only diners in the restaurant. Not exactly sure why the hold up. For fear, it would be a half hour before he returned we put in our full order at one time. By the time the appetizers came out we had been seated for about 45-50 mins. In that time there had been no sight of the waiter. Finally, after a little over an hour into our dining experience the chef personally brought our meal. While I appreciate that special touch, it did nothing for the food. We both ordered the ultimate mixed grill and the crab cake was the best thing on the plate with the stuffed shrimp right behind. The potatoes were cold, not room temperature, cold. The salmon and the grilled shrimp were seriously overcooked. I would've loved to share that with the waiter had I been able to find him. He eventually came around when it was time to for the check. I love the M&S brand and plan to continue dining at their restaurants. I want to believe this was just a one off and not the norm for this establishment though I have no plans to return to this location.
Very disappointed in the service at this restaurant. We informed our server that we had tickets to pier 6 for a show and we were 45 minutes late. Our kids dinner finally showed up as we were getting our check. All around disaster. Our sever was slow, confused and in way over her head. Super disappointing to pay top dollar for a mediocre meal with mediocre at best wait staff.
I wanted to like my food. The crab dip was excellent. Unfortunately, I believe my food was sitting under a heat lamp. The outside of my lobster was browned as if it was in an oven or like I said under a heat lamp. It was extremely chewy. Lobster does not need to be cooked very long, and this was definitely overcooked. For a 35 dollar meal, I expected much more.
Good, but not great. Server was not knowledgeable about the food or wine. A bit dirty. This has been a favorite of mine for 25 years. Now, not so much.
Ambiance, waitstaff, air conditioning, quality of food -- all great. Portions, on the other hand, were about half of the size they should have been. Disappointing experience and we left hungry. :(
I went to several restaurants during restaurant week and was blown away by the previous 3 that we had visited. Mccormick and Schmicks was dubbed the "highlight" of them all. We were extremely underwhelmed by the items on the restaurant week menu, it tasted like the food was just thrown together (I understand why the portions were the size they were). I don't believe this location took the week seriously.
Food was okay, but not great. Even after I insisted my wife’s plate was to have nothing green on it, they included a soppy vegetable medley, the juice of which had soaked into her steak. My fish was good, but not great. Ambience was okay, although the recommended dress code (smart casual) was in no way enforced: lots of inner harbor tourists in shorts and flip-flops, so we we’re way overdressed. Another been-there, done-that restaurant we can mark off our go-back-to list.
Seafood dinners were delicious. Kids menu had a nice variety. Atmosphere and view of harbor were excellent. Definitely hope to return again!
We were staying at Pier 5 Hotel and checking out at 1 p.m. so made a reservation for lunch. Everything was great!
While the restaurant provided great ambiance, the food was marginal and drinks were poor. It's a great spot for a date or group celebration. The view was awesome. People in my party weren't awe-struck by the cuisine nor drinks.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there before and it was a GREAT experience. The service was excellent and the food was VERY good.
This experience was a let down. Our server did an exceptional job. But the food missed the mark. It was like it was just a bad day in the kitchen. My wife was so disappointed that she doesn’t want to return to the restaurant and she was the one who recommend we go because of our last experience.
I wanted to love it but it wasn’t great. Service was slow. We arrived well before most tables near us and had to ask the manager to speed things up to get appetizers that were ordered. One app, seared tuna was not good. The fish was overlooked and not fresh tasting. A dish that chain restaurants get right was a disappointment. Entrees were very good, but the desert, a small Creme brûlée (another easy dish) was very runny. This place is all location. A great site on the water.
Vacationing with my sister! The service was absolutely terrible! Took very long to get drinks! Had to ask for silverware, bread and refills on drinks! Took very long to get food! Sat outside, as it was a beautiful evening, as it started getting dark outside, we could see nothing! No candle on most tables and nothing lit up where we were seated, some tables had lighting by the trees with lights on them and some had a standing decorative fixture that stood by tables. However, they were just randomly placed. My meal was not the best, ordered Shrimp Scampi, too much of the butter and garlic sauce! It was like soup! Waitress barely came to check on us so I ate what I could!! Very disappointed!!!
We sat outside and the patio area was very nice, however our server was not very attentive. I ordered crab cakes and my daughter got the filet. The crab cakes were yummy but the steak was over cooked. We waited for our server to return, so after about 5 minutes we decided to eat our meals. Most fine restaurants ask you to check your steak when served. This server just dropped our meals and left. Not what I expected from a fine dining restaurant.
Very slow service.. waited over 1 hour from end of dinner to check..
Dinner was good. Only complaint is that the lettuce on the wedge salad was a tad limp. It just wasn’t as fresh as I would have liked.
Waiter was a little forgetful, the stuffed salmon was not much at all, very little stuffed and a smaller piece of salmon. Everything else was good drinks and ambiance waiters and waitresses hosts all very friendly.
We waited for 20 minutes before anyone noticed we were there. The wait staff did not see us and the hostess did not tell anyone she seated us.
for an overpriced restaurant - their rendition of soft shell crabs was the worst rendition of over breading and frying that i have ever experienced -- a real source of indigestion. The beef dish the other diner had was not very interesting with the spinach extremely salty and the beef bordelaise with little flavor.
The food was excellent and our server was very nice, but the service was super slow. We even overheard other tables complaining about waiting too long for their food.
Customer for many years and keep coming back. The outdoor dining experience is perfect. I have many favorites on the menu and with a few visits it can happen to you too. Don't miss out on this Baltimore treasure.
Bad 50’s music in a restaurant that has pretensions of class. We are vegans-they accommodated us but the menu is definitely NOT vegan friendly.
We spent our anniversary here and was highly dissatisfied. The service was slow, steaks were completely over cooked and I was told I could substitute a vegetable then he charged us for it as a side. When questioned, we were rudely told that there is a charge for this specific side...mind you we did not even get the side it came with. I have never wrote a bad review on a restaurant, but this was probably the worst dining experience I’ve had and we go out a lot!
The steak and cake was sent back twice. Steak was over cooked the first time and tasted old the second. The crab cakes had shells in them. The Chilean sea bass was undercooked and was sitting in a puddle of liquid. Very turned off by that dish. We will most definitely not be spending that kind of money for a very poor meal again. Disappointed. The service was good - that’s the only plus.
Just okay. The food was not as good as I was hoping. It wasn't terrible, just not superb. Our server was excellent, which helped soften the the disappointment. I will give it another try and order different food, but none of us enjoyed our dishes. Our entrees involved fried food and I would steer away from that next time - it was just a little too heavy-handed. There are great views to be had if you are able to dine al fresco. Also, if you can share a bottle of wine with a friend there is an excellent by-the-bottle wine list.
Where do I begin? We waited 45 minutes for soup appetizer, which when served, was immediately followed by dinner. Waiter never told us they apparently ran out of soup. We had to chase down the manager to find out what was going on. We eventually returned soup which was salty and not worth the wait. Soft shell crabs were even more saltier. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a McCormick’s restaurant in 20 years of going to various locations nationwide.
Great service; very friendly and knowledgeable waiter; lots of entree choices
We have been to M&S numerous times throughout the years and have always had a wonderful experience. This time, not so much. Our server was very nice and attentive but got the order wrong. For appetizers my wife ordered a salad with walnuts, fruit and raspberry vinaigrette and received a blue cheese iceberg wedge instead. I ordered a bowl of the corn crab chowder and received a cup. I ordered the stuffed salmon and it was very fishy tasting. I order salmon alot and this might have been one of the worst. My wife ordered lobster tail and received two very small tails that were dry with burnt edges. We both got mash potatoes and both were cold. When the bill came I looked it over and we received exactly what was on the bill, unfortunately some of it wasn't what we ordered. We didn't send anything back or make a fuss, just not our style. Doubt I will be coming back anytime soon. Shame because till this visit, I really liked the place and not only frequented it for special occasions, I used it for business lunches as well.
Haven’t been here in years.. so disappointed in the whole atmosphere of an eating experience. The dining room was old and worn, the menu was not diverse the wait staff was unprofessional. The whole dining experience was a huge let down from what we recalled many years ago. The restaurant is is dated and needs a face lift!
OUT OF MENU ITEM
FOOD WAS SERVED COLD
ORDERED SOUP. RECEIVED WRONG ITEM
WAITED LONG TIME FOR BEVERAGE
The outside patio is amazing! A perfect place to sit in the summer. However, on this visit, the service wasn't very good at all. Food came out at different times, appetizers were brought to the table and then within 5 minutes the main dishes were brought out. There wasn't enough room for all of the dishes on the table. We had to quickly consolidate the food and juggle all of the plates. Then the soup was delivered to the table after the main course was delivered. We had to ask several times for more drinks and finally a manager came to the table and took the order. May have just been a bad night. It's a shame because the location is awesome!
Service was meh; literally that's the only word I can use to describe. I read reviews on Google and despite them being rather poor I took a chance anyway on this restaurant. Big mistake. Food is EXTREMELY overpriced for what you get and wasn't anything to write home about. It was good but not as good as it should have been for the price point we paid. Our waiter seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else but there. My husband and I spent a lot of money there and it clearly wasn't appreciated. Definitely will not ever go back or recommend to anyone.
I love outside dining! This was perfect. The server and food were wonderful. A great day.
Beautiful restaurant. Everybody is friendly and helpful. The beef medallions were a little tough. The scallops were awesome just not enough of them for the price. The Rockfish was very good. The service was good. Needed to be checked on the little more often. Would definitely recommend the restaurant for any occasion and I will definitely come back.
My husband and I went here for date night. We had a great time. Excellent food and great service. Great scenery and atmosphere.
The food was ok & our waiter was non-existent. We sat outside early on a Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was dead, there was a total of 5 tables seated inside the restaurant, 4 tables on the deck area and about 5 people in the bar area inside. Our waiter was no where to be found most of the time, we had to wait for drinks, took us 10 minutes for him to come around after we got seated. he didn't know the menu too well or at least what the food may taste like. All in all it was a very lackluster experience.
I recently took my girlfriend here for a date night on the Harbor. We made reservations at this place and it was amazing. The service could not have been any better, our waiter was very attentive and helpful, but not annoying. The food and desert was great and the cocktails we're perfect. I honestly cannot find anything to complain about.
