Mayfield Bakery & Cafe
Rustic; Wood-fired; Sustainable and seasonal. These are the hallmarks of the dishes that can be enjoyed during breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Many of the dishes draw inspiration from the wonderful fresh-baked breads produced right next door at our Bakery. And all of our meals feature organic, seasonal and sustainable ingredients, many of which are prepared in the kitchen's wood-fired oven and rotisserie, which allow for long-cooked flavors, and for the simple, fresh ingredients to shine.

Great dining destination. Wood fired cooking with diverse menu. Service is friendly and attentive. The adjacent bakery provides great breads and pastries. Well worth a visit. We’ll return soon!
Great neighborhood gem
Wonderful food and service.
The service was very disappointing. Service was slow. Difficult to get the wait staff‘s attentions. A meal was incorrect. Half the table was served while the other half waited 10 minutes more. It used to be one of our favorite spots but unfortunately service has been on a steady decline.
Delicious Caesar Salad and Turkey Club! Prompt service.
Too salty. Ordered the Caesar salad with salmon and the Caesars dressing was way too salty but salmon was delicious. Chicken pot pie was also very salty.
I have decided I like your menu and restaurant for lunch but not dinner. I like a quieter and more upscale place in the evening.
Chengo (spelling?) was our server and he is always GREAT!
We loved the food, the hospitality, and the menu.
We went for our Valentines Day dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great. To make it feel extra special, they gave us each a heart shaped raspberry linzer cookie and a red rose for me as parting gifts. Thank you!
Incredibly overpriced and hit or miss... some dishes were better than others. The grilled cheese and tomato soup were very delicious. But $15 for soup and another $10 for grilled cheese sandwich is just too much. The burger was supposed to be “pink” pet out order and was well done.
Great v-day specials. Enjoyed the short ribs; very tender.
Very noisy!!! Felt like I had to yell at my friend!
We often choose to sit outside because of the noise. This visit at lunch time was especially noisy.
Food was good. My favorite salad mixed greens, was good, but not the best I’ve had there — probably a different mix of lettuces. Dressing was excellent! The grilled salmon was excellent as usual! Bread is always good!
Never have room for dessert.
The food was fresh and delicious. I love going there.
We've been going to Mayfield for nearly 10 years now and keep going back for the good service and the consistent quality of their food. This latest visit proved why we still make the journey from the coast to eat here. We started with the warmed castelvetrano olives and the Louisiana shrimp - cooked to tender perfection in a tangy but not too spicy sauce and served over grits. Then we enjoyed outstanding mustard-glazed salmon, cooked through as we asked but not overdone. It was served with an unusual combination of farro, brussels sprouts and turnips in a light herb sauce - delicious! It was one of the best overall meals we've had anywhere. We ate so much we couldn't stay for the desserts which we usually look forward to (those warm chocolate chip cookies...yum!) Note that there is a hefty surcharge for the workers' healthcare - we'd rather see an overall bump in pricing than have a surcharge, but that's a personal matter that doesn't affect our willingness to dine here.
Server was very nice but kitchen was really slow. Burger was cold and fries soggy.
Nice atmosphere and service

Mayfield Bakery is a great spot for a meal before a concert at Stanford. We had the chicken pie and the impossible burger. Both were excellent. The bread and other baked goods are what makes this place special. Would like to see meow vegetarian options.
The food is ok, but otherwise too loud and too expensive. With the room two-thirds full, I couldn't hear the person across from me at a table for two. A turkey club sandwich is $19. The side salad is tiny and only has greens. Not one cherry tomato!
I used to go to mayfield a lot and something has changed. The food was partially cold and not that good.
Great food, great service, but it was very loud and alarmingly expensive
They told us they have a new chef. Thumbs down.
Pumpkin soup yummy, bread too....
Entree was delivered the same time as the salad which prevented us from enjoying the salad.
But the salad was terrible - dry with no salad dressing and hardly any chicken.
For the price, the size was a joke.
The fried chicken sandwich was mushy and it didn't taste like chicken. Worst fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. Very skimpy on the fries.
Asked for water with ice. Was brought a separate glass with ice that we could put ice in the water. Why couldn't they just put the ice in the glasses for us?
When we told the server about the salad, instead of apologizing, he just said he could hold the salad back..........completely missed the point about "coursing".
Food not great and completely overpriced for what you get.
And very noisy in there, not relaxing at all.
It was extremely noisy and crowded. The food is good but definitely overpriced.
Server was little too business like and wished to have more charm to match the great atmosphere.
great waitress. cold ribs. miserable food. very very loud. late delivery of food. v expensive for what you get. truly never will go again. the bread isn't nearly as good as manresa. sorry but you asked!
For the lovely ambiance, setting and service, I was sort of expecting a little more flavor from the food. Instead, I felt the food was a second to the setting. Just a picky note to a great brunch, otherwise.
I was seated right away but the hostess moved me to a better spot when a table opened up. The table decided upon chicken pot pies, but when we went to order them were informed they had already sold out. We were quite disappointed, but I guess our waiter felt sorry for us and gave us each a very nice loaf of bread to take home when we paid the check. Wait staff are friendly and the food is always good at this spot. The only downside is the headlights from the parking lot can be problematic if you suffer from migraines. For that reason I prefer it as a lunch place.
Good food in a nice ambiance. Don't forget to pickup great bread and pastries at the namesake bakery on the way home!
Thank you for the kind comments!
The food was ok overall
Celebrated my wife’s 50th birthday with her family including several picky eaters and the service was outstanding. It allowed my wife and I to not worry about anything but celebrating her day. The waiter was simply one of the best we have ever had ever. The food was also outstanding.
We highly recommend this place.
Hi Carlos, Thank you so much for celebrating your wife's 50th birthday with us at Mayfield! I am happy to see that she was allowed to have a great day not worrying about anything but having a great time! We would love to see you and your family again soon!
Great food and service. Loud but fun!
Thank you for the positive feedback! We are so happy you had a great time here at Mayfield. We hope to see you again soon!
Noise is a big problem for us. Also, please consider removing the mirrors inside the booths. We do not have to see ourselves while eating. Otherwise, a spectacular place to eat and enjoy.
Food was cold, service was spotty... Friendly wait staff.
With choir members on Christmas eve between services. Service was very friendly and helpful on a busy busy night. Many families were there bringing a festive atmosphere. Food was good. Beverages were good. Menu needs more interesting veggie options and the brands for hard liquor were good standard options, nothing special. Overall we will go again.
Xmas eve with family. Food (prime rib) was simply quality and prepared perfectly
Very overpriced for the quality of the food. Will try some pastries from the cafe next time.
The waiter was attentive and jovial. He did a great job managing our orders. Food was yummy.
