We enjoyed our brunch at Max’s! Tasty mimosas.
I had the French toast with fresh berry’s. Huge portion and cooked perfectly. The hubs had the hash and enjoyed it immensely. Great mix of flavors.
Top notch service and sweet tunes during brunch.
The staff was incredible. Appropriately socially distanced and the food and drink was remarkable.
Service was excellent, food too! Perfect patio to catch up with good friends. Only suggestion would be to include a non-alcoholic wine and/or beer on the menu for those that are staying away from alcohol.
The waiter was attentive. Nice atmosphere. Food was ok. My husband ordered Mahi but they ran out and gave him Sword fish which he did not care for. My son and myself split the fried fish which was just ok. Not sure if we will return.
Food was good mimosas were good service could of been better but overall great time we had
Despite having the word “dive” in its name, the food was not typical or mediocre. Best beef short ribs I’ve ever had at a restaurant and superb wine choices. Ambiance is perfect whether you want to be casual or dress up, and has the perfect rock cafe vibe. Loved it!
The waiter and manger on duty were phenomenal. The chef was by herself in the kitchen and was turning the meals out fresh and hot. If I could go everyday I would very much worth my drive from Austin
I have eaten at many Max’s across Texas. Unfortunately the food here was subpar. I didn’t experience the flavors and quality as I did at other Max’s in the past.
Great food, drink, and friendly service!
The famous chicken with mashed potatoes was good. The ambiance was very nice and they had a large wine selection. My short ribs were slightly overcooked and my risotto was undercooked.
Great food. Big portions. Great mimosas!
Came with some friends and sat on the patio, weather was beautiful, it was clean, and safe. The service was just okay. We enjoyed the food!
Brunch was great as always. But dessert...you had me at bread pudding. But add peaches and white chocolate and there are no words. If that is ever on dessert menu when I am back, I am going for double order and double order of my favorite sparkling...Domaine Chandon.
Well Mimi that's why we did it!!
Overall great experience. My wife has Celiac Disease so going out to eat poses challenges, but she’s been wanting to try their GF fried chicken. Visiting during Covid of course changed a typical dining experience, but Bobby our host, server, busser, one man show for the day, was great! He never missed a beat, never left us waiting, and was very knowledgeable on what additional GF options they could prepare. Highly recommend!
Hey George It was a pleasure taking care of you and your wife and making sure her restrictions were observed. I thank you for your kind words. Bobby General Manager
Normally a great place. However, no sure if it is the limited resources with COVID, but my most recent visit was subpar.
Jay I am sorry to hear that your last visit was not up to expectations. We pride ourselves on over delivering and we obviously did not do that on your last visit. We hope that you sill give us another chance to show you an over the top experience. Bobby General Manager
Food was very good and the server's were on top of it and happy!
Hello Scott We appreciate your feedback!! We are a happy bunch and we are glad it shows!! See you soon Bobby General Manager
Relaxed environment and great service
Max’s Wine dive did not disappoint! We enjoyed a fantastic meal for San Antonio Restaurant Month! Bobby and Niko made our experience extremely wonderful! The favorite of the night was the Brussel Sprout appetizer and Fish and Chips! Highly recommend to go and enjoy!
My boyfriend and I went for San Antonio culinary week. We got some wine, an appetizer, entree, and desert each. We had lot of leftovers to take home. It was a lot of delicious food for a good price. It was perfect for our date night!
Enjoyed the service, food, and atmosphere!
We had a good night there. Food was OK nothing bad but nothing outstanding. Service was pretty bad. I server for the whole restaurant and he would literally run away and disappear for a while. Hard to ask questions or ask about restaurant week specials. We will try again when CV19 allows more staff to work.
Great choice for Culinaria week!! You can't go wrong!
I enjoyed the ccx 3 course restaurant week menu, my husband had the fish and chips xss and some of my fried chicken. We both enjoyed everything!!
Sat outside. Great service.
We always love the food at Max’s wine dive. It is always wonderful and the portions are great!
Bobby was a fantastic server. He was able to recommend different wines for us to try based on what we liked. His recommendations were spot on and the food was top notch!
We LOVE LOVE Max’s! Love the food, service, and great wine selection! Will return again and again!
I had a leg and thigh and it was the smallest chicken and had no flavor what’s soo ever!!! The waffle was not the same either! If your gonna serve a smaller portion than the price needs to be smaller as well ! Never going back again!
Food and service is always great.
There seemed to be a large number of fruit flies in the building. It was quite bothersome to keep swatting away, better control of the problem would increase the ambiance.
It was my 30th birthday brunch. I noted it when booking, but was not acknowledged for it.
Food was great and services from our server Nico was awesome!!
Service is great and food was delicious. Will dine in again for sure.
Waiters that served us had their masks around their necks the entire time.
I would describe Max's Wine Dive atmosphere as casual intimate. The menu selection is very good with a leaning towards comfort food. The fried egg sandwich is my usual go to for a visit. Excellent wine selection and decent beer selection.
It was a very disappointing brunch experience, and a let down in comparison to previous experience.
1.) The host/ server had a bandanna to wear in reference to a mask, but never treated it as such.
2.) One of the line cooks ran outside and came back in and never changed their gloves.
3.)There was dirty sticky hand prints on the window, food crumbs all over the floor as if it was just a quick rushed cleaning.
4.) The service was absolutely horrible as if we were a forget me knot, because that same hostess/server welcomed another couple whom seemed to be good friends and right away got them bottle service and put their order in.
5.) The fried chicken plate was a major let down. It seemed as if it was yesterday’s food reheated and the mash potatoes where hard to define as such.
We have been there before and had a positive experience, but they have definitely dropped the ball on food, service, and cleanliness.
Wanted to try something new. Had to see what $21 fried chicken was about..... and I’ll tell you, not much. 1 and a half small drumsticks and an itty bitty breast/wing. Even if the portions were bigger it was still plain fried chicken, figured they would have brined or seasoned the chicken a little..... all in all it was good typical fried chicken. Now we also ordered the braised short ribs, I’d say it saved the experience. Lots of flavor and very tender and a decent sized portion. Would I go back, maybe if I was in the area to try something different, but wouldn’t travel 25min again....
It was a family outing with small children. They loved the fun decor and we all loved the food. We were definitely blown away and will recommend this hot spot to everyone I know!
We were expecting brunch, but what we got was sooo much better! The food here was great! Can’t wait to go back.
