Fried Chicken Dinner with mashed potatoes and texas toast has to be the perfect meal for sopping up alcohol. The berry bread pudding light on the berries contributed even more alcohol adsorption potential. Prepared me well for a night of watermelon lime coolers at White Oak Music Hall The dripping faucet in the bathroom gives credibility to the Dive in the name

Went to Max's during Restaurant Weeks. The 3 course meals were excellent. Service was attentive and timely. A fairly priced and delicious bottle of Rose' was a great addition. Will definitely return.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Max's Wine Dive, and I can't stop raving about the entire experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the charming ambiance and cozy atmosphere. Started with the stuffed mushrooms and then the hot fried chicken. It was all a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and the chicken was so juicy! Don't forget Max's pickle beer michelada and champagne with Kool-aid! Nothing I have ever tasted, and glad I did! Our server, Anne I believe, was so knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her warm hospitality helped us enjoy the remainder of our only evening in Houston. Kudos to the entire team for creating a restaurant that truly raises the bar for great food! I will always remember the slogan, fried chicken and champagne, why the hell not! Says it all!

I have no complaints about this place. The food is great and I love the wine selection. Fairview was my favorite location, I hate that it's closed. For brunch Saturdays or better than Sundays. On Sundays, the noise level can be a bit loud. The chicken, waffles, french toast,greens, breakfast potatoes, and grits are the best dishes.

We went here to celebrate our 16-year wedding anniversary and also partake in Houston Restaurant week. The ambiance and service were very nice. I loved the music and lighting made for a romantic evening. The dinner portions were small. I'm not sure if that was due to the set menu/price, but I loved the salmon and macaroni and cheese. I was not a fan of the chicken, tho. I hate dark meat, especially thighs, and that was the only choice. The chicken also didn't have much flavor to me, and the crust was like corn flakes. I just feel for cost, white meat should have been an option ...Me no likey, but hubby loved it and the mashed potatoes. The fried deviled eggs were tiny and too hard, and the short rib empanadas had a good flavor but very little meat. I also chewed on a piece of fat, and I was done...yuck. the desserts were perfect, but the best part was the complimentary bread pudding with ice cream , Omg, so delicious. Overall, I enjoyed my entree and will definitely go back!

The food was good. If you’ve been dining here since it came to Houston market you can tell it’s not same as when it started but still pretty good where I would continue to dine. What keeps us coming is the gluten free options. I think I’ve received an item with gluten but it was our fault the way we ordered. Otherwise I’ve been able to dine here safely. For gluten free diners: we tried the crab elote Dip and forgot to ask for gluten free. The waiter said the dip was GF just not the bread so I ate the dip and I started to have some GI symptoms. It appeared to have artificial crab (which is a hidden source of wheat), so I would check with chef first before trying that dish. The gluten free chicken sandwich was very good, I wish I knew where they get their GF buns from, as they are so good and other restaurants need to take note Looking forward to our next visit.

I am extremely disappointed. I love this restaurant and visit whenever I get a chance. The service was horrible. We had a reservation and was immediately seated but that was where the good service ended. We were seated and it took a waitress 20 minutes just to come by and ask had we been helped. There were 2 couples who came after us that were seated and received drinks before we were even approached. Our waitress was not attentive. My fried chicken was cold. We had finished our meal and the bust boy was cleaning our table and had not even been approached about how our meal was or about our bill for our meal. The service of this establishment has severely went done.
