We really enjoyed the ambiance!
Got together to enjoy a late evening dinner that was absolutely delicious
Loved it, exceptional food.
Great vibes and ambiance. Beautiful place for intimate dinner.
Creative upscale Mexican inspired cuisine. Beautiful surroundings
The food was excellent, they recommended small plates. The wine list was extensive and had good quality. The overall prices were expensive, but the service and food was very good.
Everything about this restaurant is perfect. I rated the noise level as moderate because there was a live band, which was so tasteful. The band added to the ambience, will definitely be back soon!!
Oh yeah the Food, A1. I will recommend the lamb chops on small plate, guac and the Wagyu tacos😋
And the cocktail with the egg white in it!
loved my experience! all the staff was so nice, definitely would recommend
The food and cocktails are excellent as well as the service. Recommend the ceviches, guacamole, and fried Rockfish platter. The tacos are also excellent.
Everything was great!! Our server Alex gave fabulous recommendations and timed our meal out perfectly!! Thanks for such a great evening!!
It was GREAT . Our waitress was well educated with what to offer new customers. The atmosphere was awesome as well, we felt spell because every serve came and said Happy Anniversary to us. It made it even more special. We will be seeing us and friends again.
Love the vibe. Great food. Thoughtful , restrained , well-executed cocktails!
My trip to Maximon was a last-minute but surprising reservation. Having previously been to Wit & Wisdom which was previously in that location, I was absolutely blown away about the change in decor. It felt like I stepped into a restaurant at a high-end Mexico resort. Sadly, that's where my positive time here ended.
My party was late joining me but that should not have been a reason for why I was not promptly treated and at least given water. It took about 10 minutes for that to happen while the restaurant was not busy at 11:30am. I ordered the egg white cocktail, Parhelio, which was fantastic...but came 20 min later.
I did speak to Coalie (sp?) and mentioned to him that the service was less than desirable and he aided in taking care of me. I ordered the Hamachi as an app and while it came out absolutely beautiful...it tasted less than desirable. I then switched to guacamole which was amazing. The figs in it were an extremely nice touch.
For my brunch, I ordered the Torta Bendicto and my friend ordered the Norteno. My eggs benedict came with prosciutto on top that was dark and chewy tasting. I did not particularly enjoy my meal however my friend enjoyed her food a lot and would recommend it.
All in all, I'm disappointed in my first time visiting this establishment, and considering that this is owned by the Atlas Group (which I didn't know until I signed my check with their name on the pen) I am not surprised. I don't know if I would give this place another try but it sure is pretty.
We went to celebrate my birthday at Maximon and we had a wonderful dining experience! We’ve never been there before and didn’t know what to expect. The service was excellent, food came out quickly, they cleared our small tables quickly to fit more plates, and our drinks came out delicious. The waitress was informative and had great suggestions for which plates to get. The food was delicious! Everything we tried was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Presentation was excellent. Yes, it’s quite expensive for what you get but we left feeling satisfied. Will definitely come back to try a platter next time!
Food and service was very good! Portions are a bit small, but prices are very good so maybe get an appetizer.
Great experience overall! Nice location and exceptional service.
Terrific food. The ceviche was wonderful and the guacamole fresh and bright. Loved it.
The decor and views are amazing, the staff are friendly, helpful and very professional, and the food was very good! We will definitely be back, bringing friends along!
I’ll start with the positive. The food was absolutely delicious, and the dining room is beautiful. There was live music, which was quite lovely. I came here with a friend after a UMD alumni event that was held close by. If I’m honest, maybe I was underdressed for the restaurant in a Maryland tshirt and Adidas (not that this was stated anywhere, just making a personal assumption based on my experience). We only came here because my friend had been here once last year, and had a nice experience and loved the food.
When we arrived, we were greeted cheerfully by a male employee who kindly walked us over to the host stand, since we entered from the patio entrance. The hostess was also kind as she checked us in for our reservation (which was at a non-busy time - just before 2pm) and walked us to our table. Even the gentleman who brought our food out from the kitchen was very nice to us when he came to our table. These 3 are the only reason I have chosen to leave any stars at all for service.
However, our assigned server was quite rude for almost the entire visit. The first 3 times she came to our table (once to “welcome” us, once to bring water and take our drink order, and once to take our food order), she spoke to us in a very condescending tone. We felt extremely uncomfortable for our entire meal. However, she was suddenly kind when handing me the check. Sorry, but that’s just too late for me.
The atmosphere is great and the food is overall good. Lovely wat to start your mornings. Love to walk from my home and have early morning breakfast and then slide into an early afternoon drink at the bar. You will feel like you have been transported to a resort
Delicious, well-seasoned food, incredibly friendly staff, and attractive and cozy ambience!
Great food and service. The staff was amazing. For contemporary Mexivan food, this is the place. Highly recommend.
Holly a great server
Food was very fresh and the atmosphere was great-would recommend fried rockfish main dish to share.
Went to Maximon for wife's Birthday. Atmosphere was pretty chill & the service was friendly & attentive. I'd recommend the crab & shrimp tacos & the giant prawns.
Great service and food was outstanding! Took a little to get cocktails but server was on top of it and super friendly and helpful. Great place for an outdoor event on the water!
My experience surpassed my expectations! Ambiance was amazing, the food was top tier. However our service was a little slow, but to make up for it we were offered drinks on the house! I’d definitely recommend this place to all of my friends for a date night.
Adriana was AMAZING.
The simply great food is enough reason alone to go, and the service and space are equally good.
Everything was so delightful! The music, the ambience and most importantly the food! I’ll definitely be returning!
The food was delicious, but the portion sizes are too small. Our dinner cost more than $100, but we left the restaurant feeling hungry. Please increase the portion sizes.
Service: Adriana was excellent, although she might have been covering too many tables. We are pretty impatient, though, so that might have tainted her in our assessment of service.
Food: duck confit tacos. Very good but a bit expensive for two
Oysters: tasty but really small! Lamb: delicious but fatty and we had agreed to split so we each got one good bite. Halibut: the star of the show! So good we were sorry we didn't order two plates of it.
My husband had two margaritas and raved about how good they were (It was his 75th birthday but no bartender comped them for us like one reviewer below says happened to them.) They were $18 each.
Desserts we each had one, and loved what we got. Husband's $12 was complimentary.
Our bill with tax and tip was $180. That was less than we expected but for a really small amount of food.
Finally, the MENU. A disaster. There are platters meant to be shared (like the fried rockfish for $66). Then there are the small plates, which advertised "meant for sharing." No way. The portions were really small. The two tacos were also small. We had to ask what many things were because there were no translations. I felt sorry for the servers; they must spend half of their time explaining the illogical and confusing menu itself.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves because it was a special occasion. We'd go again with lower expectations, I guess. The location on the waterfront is prime and the restaurant is beautiful PS If someone asked for advice, "I'd say get an order of two tacos for an appetizer and each order 2 plates--not to share.
Really delicious, they nailed the Latin vibe. Felt like we're on vacation in Mexico, but we took an uber! It was pretty pricey, but i would say the experience was worth it with the outdoor seating and perfect weather we had. Rockfish was sooooo good.
Great ambiance and tasty food
As always a great time, meal and service!!! The Carnitas Platter, Chips with Guac & Salsa, Queso Fundido were delicious as usual! The spicy margaritas were perfect per usual! Can't wait to go back!
The place is beautiful, service is amazing and everyone was always cordial with us. Food is ok but I believe it's over-priced, portions are very VERY small and for the price, flavor isn't something extraordinary. But I still feel is a good place to come and have a good time.
We had many options for dinner, and were thrilled with Maximon. The food and atmosphere were perfect for an a delightful meal and conversation.
A truly exceptional restaurant. World class. Drinks are expensive but worth it. I'm from the UK finally I relented & that is rare in restaurants these days. Most of my restaurant experiences post-pandemic have been slightly (or very) disappointing. Maximon was the exception.
Beautiful place with great food, but minimal food options
The food was good, the service was great. The overall ambience was nice. Only problems was the WiFi connection in there was bad and with spotty cell service these days, one relies on WiFi at times for important calls. The restaurant does not seem to have WiFi of its own.
