About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Innovative
Eight years ago, Maximo Bistrot started as a restaurant for the thinking and execution of dishes from a wide range of techniques with the best of local ingredients; a warmful place that communicated our love for food. After a long and heartwarming road at our current location, we thought for the need of moving. Our new home, located at Alvaro Obregon 65 bis - a much wider space where gleams of natural light shine upon the surface-, is carefully assembled by Gabriela's meticulous look, and a kitchen built within Eduardo García's early memories, while living as an inmigrant in a barn in Ohio. Despite this big change, our principles initially founded remain the same: to offer food that distinguishes the best of local products.

From the OpenTable editors: This French bistro has dazzled CDMX for over 11 years. Led by chef Eduardo García, it offers a farm-to-table concept with influences from his childhood. The menu includes fresh seafood from Baja California, meats, and game birds. All of this is enjoyed in a bright, spacious setting, cared for by Gabriela López. Its quality and freshness, along with its stylish intimacy, make it a must-visit for food lovers.

Amazing ambience, food service overall a top-notch restaurant! Price point is obviously a lot higher than normal, but I will tell you for a full experience like this you need to pay to play!

My husband and two boys ate at Maximo for his 70th birthday. It was outstanding! My foodie son said it was the best meal he's ever had (and he's eaten in Michelin starred restaurants in NYC and Copenhagen.) The service was fantastic and friendly, the vibe relaxed but felt special. We had starters (ceviche, burrata), pastas (ravioli, risotto) and two beef dishes (beef cheek and shank). Plus desert (flan and chocolate cake). Wonderful, wonderful meal and Chef "Lalo" was in the kitchen (open so you can see in) the whole night cooking away! So special, thank you!!

No regresaría.

Skip Maximo. While the food was quite good, the service was aloof, uncaring, slow. Waited at least 10 minutes for menus. Waited another ten before anyone stopped by to welcome us. Waited 30 minutes between appetizers and main dish…while being completely forgotten by the waitstaff. They poured us two bottles of water without us asking (at $8-plus a piece) but did remove them from our bill when I questioned this practice. All in all, it was not a pleasant experience and I would recommend it to no one. We’re not fussy, demanding people but at those prices, you deserve a little attention from the staff. It was our anniversary and we were so sick of being ignored, we didn’t even stay for dessert. Very disappointing.

My friends and I have been to Mexico City several times and many Michelin restaurants, Maximo by far was the worst dining experience we have had. The service was absolutely terrible. While there was plenty of staff, it seemed as though the restaurant operated in absolute chaos. Our waiter didn’t even bother to give us menus for 30min, our water or drinks were never replenished, nor did our waiter ever bother to check on us or our food. Food was subpar as well and super heavy on the cream on all dishes. Unfortunate as this restaurant has potential but hard to see how they have their Star. Highly recommend passing on this restaurant and going literally anywhere else , there are plenty of other restaurants that actually care about their food and the customer dining experience.

Eduardo Garcia is an amazing standout in the Mexico City culinary world. This amazingly beautiful restaurant delivers it all, outstanding food, wine, vibe, and an interior that is so gorgeous. I will definitely be going back for more of this! Thanks for the incredible service during our recent visit. This was an absolute highlight of our visit to Mexico City where the michelin stars abound.
