Nestled in the heart of Houston’s West University neighborhood at 6119 Edloe Street, Maximo is a progressive Mexican restaurant from the Local Foods Group team that combines authenticity and adventure. Nearly everything is done in house under Executive Chef Adrian Torres with mentorship from Local Foods Group Creative & Culinary Director Seth Siegel-Gardner. Nixtamalized tortillas are just the start; corn kernels are boiled, soaked and ground into masa, imparting maximum flavor into a dedicated masa section on the menu featuring sopes, tetelas and even cornbread, along with a list of ever-changing taco options. Shareable plates, from crudos and salads to entrees and desserts, entice guests to explore. The restaurant is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 - 9 p.m. for dinner service and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. for brunch and dinner service.

A great experience. The food was excellent. The cocktails were excellent. The service was excellent. We had the Shrimp Queso Fundido, Heart of Palm and Strawberry salad, Redfish, Squash Blossom Tetela, Brisket Suadero Taco, Short Rib, and Bunuelo. Delicious!

Delicious food. Everything is home made. And you can tell. And the service was top notch. Can’t wait to come back.

Highly recommend the Chef’s Tasting - but not sure how they make money. Not that we minded the low price, because that was a phenomenal meal. $75 per person for a 5-course meal with 5 drink pairings. Best part is everything was really good, especially the service.

Landon, we love you enjoyed the food and service. Our staff appreciates it when our guests really enjoy themselves. Our ownership allows us to focus on the lifetime value of our guests, which allows us to have some smaller margins on things, sounds like the strategy is working!

We had wanted to try Maximo’s for a while and decided to do so for my husband’s 50th birthday dinner. We decided to go with the tasting menu and enjoyed our dinner very much. Our server, Miles, was amazing and added to the enjoyment of our experience.

The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food and drinks are outstanding and very unique - the chef and bartenders are so creative and always coming up with new menu items. I personally love that so much of the menu is naturally gluten free; much of it is also dairy free for those who need that. Highly recommend!

This was the first time visiting Maximo. Very impressed by the young chef, food was excellent. The staff were awesome and so attentive. I enjoyed the Brunch menu and will definitely will be back.

Wonderful experience, everyone was very knowledgeable and wait staff knew everything about every item on the menu, everything was very fresh and unique, will come back again and again.
