Nestled in the heart of Houston’s West University neighborhood at 6119 Edloe Street, Maximo is a progressive Mexican restaurant from the Local Foods Group team that combines authenticity and adventure. Nearly everything is done in house under Executive Chef Adrian Torres with mentorship from Local Foods Group Creative & Culinary Director Seth Siegel-Gardner. Nixtamalized tortillas are just the start; corn kernels are boiled, soaked and ground into masa, imparting maximum flavor into a dedicated masa section on the menu featuring sopes, tetelas and even cornbread, along with a list of ever-changing taco options. Shareable plates, from crudos and salads to entrees and desserts, entice guests to explore. The restaurant is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 - 9 p.m. for dinner service and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. for brunch and dinner service.

My only complaint is that they are getting too popular and they are so small they can only accommodate so many each night. All the food and drinks were great - make sure u try their mushroom tacos and patatas bravas!

This was the nicest brunch I’ve enjoyed in a long time. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to go back.

Raul provided exceptional service. Not only did he provide exceptional service, he was very detailed with curating every dish that was presented. Everything on the tasting menu, including the drink pairings was superb. Thank you Raul for creating a memorable experience.

One of the best food experiences I have had in Houston. Food was delicious. Short rib …omg. Deserts. Mmm. I will try the tasting menu next time. Service was superb. Miles is an amazing server. Knowledgeable / attentive…can’t say enough about the service. Truly the best.

Saw their segment on Chris Beard's "Eat like a local" on Channel 2. Went there for my wife's birthday and it was perfect. Not usually a fan of small plates, but they were so enticing and fairly priced, that we had quite a few and were stuffed after dessert ... and we didn’t have to take out a loan when the check came. A great way to experience Mexican cuisine that isn't just TexMex. Kudos to Adrian and his team. Go, SaberCats!

Great service. House margaritas were amazing. All good dishes are unique and tasty. Patio was beautiful.
