I have been going to Maxs restaurants for years. I don’t know what has happened over the last few years but the service and especially the food has honestly gone downhill. Even the presentation of food is lacking. It’s a shame but there are much better restaurants around.

In spite of it being a very busy night with many people there to celebrate Father's day and/or other occasions, our waitress Chloe was very attentive and personable. Our table of 7 enjoyed the seafood tower and everything was cold and fresh. Entrees were delicious for everyone. If seafood is what you crave, and you have high expectations, Max Fish will make you happy.

Granted, it was Father’s Day so I’m sure they were busy; however, the hostess did not advise the waitress that she was assigned to our table. We were not served or even offered water for almost 40 minutes. Although the waitress wasn’t informed, it would have been nice if one of the many servers who walked by asked if we had been helped. Management did come by eventually to apologize and offered us complimentary drinks and appetizers for the inconvenience. We appreciated that, but the food simply wasn’t as good as it has been in the past. We appreciated the effort though, especially on a holiday!

Reservations made on June 1st for Father’s Day, June 15th were not honored. My reservation online included formal dining and my phone call to the restaurant the day before requested a larger size booth due to my husband and I being seated at a smaller booth during a previous visit in which it was very uncomfortable for us. I was asked to hold so that the reservations could be reviewed and then was informed that it would not be a problem and that a note would be added to the reservation made on June 1st. Upon our arrival I gave my name and was asked if we wanted to sit outside which we replied no. I was then brought to a small booth. I explained my reservations and was brought back the the hostess who stated that the only seats available were small booths and outdoor dining due to larger parties coming in. They asked when were those reservations made because there was an empty larger booth set for 3 people. A couple who walked in as we were parking and they were seated at a larger booth. I was able to ask them if they had requested a larger booth and they responded, “No, this is where we were seated.” I did not ask to speak with a manager because I was so upset thy there was a lump in my throat and I did not want to make a scene ruining my husband’s and others Father’s Day. My husband and I had to sit in the informal dining area at a small booth. I use “had to” because other restaurants did not have any availability for brunch. I’m have never had my reservations totally ignored. My husband and I both lost our fathers so we don’t only celebrate my husband but both our fathers.

In all the years we’ve been eating at Max Fish, we have eaten the freshest, most delicious food, time and again. I don’t know what kind of training the staff goes through, but in this day and age it is rare to find such gems!! From the host stand to the kitchen staff, bartenders, servers, and turnover crew, you cannot find a better atmosphere or meal. Every time I fill out a review I don’t hesitate to say we will be back!

We had an amazing dinner there last night! I had the haddock and my husband enjoyed the scallops. Truly the best haddock I ever had - over fresh beet greens, tomatoes and sweet onions, with crab on the top of it. And the chocolate mousse cake! Wow. - To that as well! Thank you all for your hard work- it is most appreciated!!

We love Max Fish. Do not let the name “Fish” fool you because, while fish and seafood are a specialty, beef, vegan and chicken dishes delicious and well prepared are always on the menu. The service is excellent. There is a lively bar and a separate, more quiet, dining room providing a welcoming ambiance.
