Opened in 1991, Max a Mia was named “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine in its first year, and “top-grossing restaurant in its size” by Restaurant Hospitality. The restaurant is now in the good hands of Executive Chef Bob Peterson, who has brought an exciting new energy to the restaurant.

Max A Mia is the quintessential Italian experience in the Greater Hartford area. It also continues to garner awards and accolades. Featuring a traditional Italian menu, it utilizes an authentic brick oven that produces stone pies with unmatched flavor. Traditional veal, pork and pasta dishes, as well as inventive risotto offerings, set the mood for desserts including tiramisu and white chocolate polenta cake.

Meat lasagna was OK. Salmon was very good. All things considered, we all had decent or better meals.

Well we did get off to a slow start as we requested Bonnie and while our request was honored the hostess put us at a table that was not hers😂. Well when we told Bonnie (we are regular) she more than made up for it! Our meals were delicious as usual but my crab dish did not really have the flavor of crab. But delish.

Always a great place to meet friends for dinner and cocktails! Our server, Abby, was professional, funny and attentive. The food, as usual, was delicious. We love Max A Mia and highly recommend it to our family and friends

We had dinner at Max A Mia last night (6/5) and it was an extremely hot day/evening. We had made a reservation for 7 PM and when we walked in the hostess asked if we would like to sit inside or outside, we said inside because it was so hot out. When we walked into the dining room It was very, very warm. We sat down at our table and our waitress was lovely. We mentioned that it was very hot and she said that yes, several of her customers had mentioned the heat and that it was probably because it was such a hot day and the air conditioners just hadn’t kicked in! Our dinner, despite the food being very good, was unpleasant due to the very warm conditions in the dining room. We were frankly appalled that the restaurant hadn’t closed due to the lack of air-conditioning or that at the very least the hostess didn’t mention that it was very warm in the dining room so that we could make a decision before we sat down as to whether we wanted to eat there. Also, we wondered why the manager or someone else didn’t come around and apologize to everyone about the lack of air-conditioning and offer everyone a free drink or some kind of discount. Very disappointing and unprofessional.

We sat outside and it was a lovely evening. Service and food were excellent. It’s our go-to restaurant.
