Maui Brewing Co - Kailua
Arriving to Maui Brewing Co for dinner, we got seated before our reservation time, which was probably the only great thing about our visit. The menu was very limited, very limited, which left us choosing an entrée that we did not necessarily want and it was near the cheapest ($20) for a small pizza. The food was over priced compared to other breweries (Kona) and although our server was great, the food he brought out to us had very little toppings on our pizzas. The crust was already thin, so when you see the cheese nearly blending in with the crust it was not worth the price we paid. I will not recommend this place to anyone if they want to eat dinner here, and we did not drink any other their alcoholic beverages so I would assume that is the only reason people visit.
Great food! Amazing drinks! Incredible service!
Happy Hour prices makes it everything worth it. Best part is that you can make reservations during Happy Hour! The service started off good, but as it got busier, the service started to slip. Overall, I would recommend going to Maui Brewing only during Happy Hour.
Got seated at around 8:45, on time for our reservation. After the server brought us water, we didn't see him again til about 9:00 when he only took our drink order, saying he'd come back for our food order. We finally were able to flag him down at about 9:20 while he was bussing a table near ours and said he'd come back to take our order. Then at 9:30, he finally took our order -- didn't even apologize for the wait or anything, we were starving. Fortunately for him, 9:30 is when happy hour started so I guess it worked out in some ways, but still, took 45 minutes just to order food with only one beer.
The food and beer is good at MBC in general, but the service at this location on that night was terrible. Waikiki service was wayyyy better.
Bar atmosphere, music was pretty loud hard to hold a conversation.
We had the best waiter!! Thank you Noah!! You took such good care of my family..you made awesome recommendations and made it such a fun evening for all of us. My husband loved the Pearl, I really liked Guava Lava that you suggested and wasn’t expecting the food to be so yummy and surprise it was all yummy. Thank you.
Savannah was our server and she was great! Food was on point and she recommended a great beer! Awesome last minute dinner!
Such an Aloha place! I typically stick to more mom & pop places but meeting the girls for dinner so we were looking for fun.
Found it! Good beer, great food, and super friendly service👍
outside table around 4:30 was really hot and bright. they don't have any shade or blind to give shade to the tables.
The menu was limited and items
First time and def not the last!
Service was great. The food was ono and it came out quickly. Drinks were fabulous! We will be visiting again =)
Dining from out of town. Food was subpar at best. Burger was juicy and fries were tasty; but nothing special to make me yearn to “have” to go back. They were “out” of ice tea (odd). Wings could have been cooked more and drink refills were hard to come by. Prices were on the high side considering it’s a local brew pub. Air conditioning duct was sweating water on to our bench and my head which was a little annoying: but even knowing it had been a “problem” sat us there nonetheless. It’s a good place to grab a quick bite; but 4 people ordering burgers was $100
Fantastic beers and even better pizza in a really cool part of O’ahu.
Great beers, great staff, stellar service coupled with good food and music. Expensive for what you get if not eating during happy hours and the high-bay space is extremely loud so I've found it hard to have family conversations but still a great venue for eats and drinks in my town!
Awesome Happy hour!!
I really like the aesthetic of the restaurant, also the service was excellent and they fulfilled my special request which was also amazing! 10/10
Great service and happy hour prices!
Solid, but unspectacular. Pretty busy and lots of energy.
Made reservations for Father’s Day dinner. We were seated and placed our order with our pleasant server. After a few minutes she informed us that the pizza oven was broken. We left to find someplace else to eat.
The food was delicious. I had the jalapeno burger and it was very good. Our server Sam was awesome. She was on it and got our orders right.
Highly recommend this location.
Unfortunately as the restaurant gets busier, the service goes downhill. However, this is still one of my favorite places! (I probably come here once a week.)
Live music was exceptional...when we could hear it. It was loud & very difficult to carry on a conversation without shouting. The service was great, very friendly and efficient. the metal chairs were a bit uncomfortable, but ok for 30 minutes to an hour. The food was ok, nothing to brag about. The place was busy so they're doing something right. Great place for drinks with friends, but not for a family dinner.
Took forever for our server to greet us and take our order. Two drunk people next to us were obnoxious and harassing customers. They should have been reseated at the bar not dining room. Took 20 min to get a glass of wine poured. It arrived with the glass dripping in wine. I order a burger every time and each time I have to ask for it to be cooked rarer and rarer because it is over cooked. This time I ordered medium rare and it came out almost well done and dry. Less fries this time and it was served with marinara sauce and not the homemade ketchup. When I asked for the homemade ketchup I got a dismissive look from the server and was given bottles ketchup. My husband ordered the nachos as usual and we got a plate with 2/3 the amount of nachos that is regularly served and it was a half effort attempt at making nachos. Which is odd, because nachos should not be difficult to make. Time to get our check took awhile too. Was very disappointed since we like coming here every two weeks.
Great service and excellent food. Enjoyed the environment.
It was so loud i could not talk without shouting to the person sitting next to me!
Friendly staff and good service. Food was mediocre and underwhelming. This is a sports/beer bar. Not suitable for families with young children. Not family oriented.
Good food; good service; good music. Friendly staff and servers
Service was great. However the food was average but the price was enormous. Got the Chicken Katsu sandwich. If you wanted fries it was an extra $4. Meal was just ok.
Sat on the patio, music was pretty loud. I love live music, but I couldn’t even hear my daughter talk and she was right next to me. The musician was very good tho.
Food and Service were great! Portions of appetizers were great for sharing with friends- the beer was also amazzzzing! Will be coming back soon
our waiter was phenomenal. he did a great job of helping us decide on what to order and giving us the chance to catch up without leaving us feeling like he had disappeared. he was friendly, kind and a really good guy. the food and drinks were also very good. we enjoyed the live music as well.
The food was only ok, the beer was only ok. Good took a long time and was lukewarm when we got it.
The worst part was a negative experience with the GM who scolded us for letting our kid draw on the blank side of a paper menu, and admonished us not to do that next time.
I understand the frustration, but there are more constructive ways to provide that feedback or approach the situation. Like offering some blank paper.
Chicken katsu was yummy. The rib eye was a bit overcooked and not worth the $35. Kids pasta or cheesy Mac was good.👍
1) WAAAY too loud!!! customer voices off the concrete wall aside, then ALL the people and then the musician, who may have been playing & singing well but we're not sure, was so over-amplified no one could hear anything else, including our servers
2) when our group ordered drinks, 1 person asked for a taster. drinks and sampler came and then it was almost 10 minutes more til the actual drink for the sampler person came. when another drink came, it was PURE alcohol with no flavor but burn. no offer to remake or discount or anything- we were a party of 5 ordering several drinks and food too....
3) server called everyone "M'am" we're not in Charleston, it isn't appropriate here
4) we ordered the buffalo wings, we got asian style ones. fries were cold
5) wow, not a good showing for 3 of 5's first visit to MBC Kailua. I won't be back
The server was nice, but slow. We kept having to ask her for things and a couple of times she forgot. I had the beer sampler, but it was served at room temperature. Beer is best served ice cold. The food was ok, nothing spectacular or made you want to come back again for more and there were limited options on both appetizers and entrees. It was basic bar food, but more expensive.
Fun place great drinks hard to converse though.. food was good
This is my third time dining at this restaurant. Went for a regular dinner to have with friends. Food this time was much better. We noticed many improvements that we never seen before. The avocado toast was actually toasted this time. And our request for no cilantro was considered more seriously this time.
The pizza was perfect. Not as aromatic as we loved before but the flavor was still spot on. My friend had ordered a lemon refresher (non alcoholic being for our Designated Driver) but the error of having left the lemon sticker label in the drink was super quickly noticed by our waitress, and we got a replacement instantly. That was greatly appreciated. We also noticed that the noise levels have somewhat improved this time around, which is better, but still difficult to hear each-other.
Overall we could tell that improvements to everything is slowly being integrated, and if the food keeps getting better we will continue to keep dining there. Sadly this time around I tried to order a crowler to go, but the crowler machine was out of service. I agree with my waitress, next time we come, I hope to be able to take a beer home. (Growler is a bit too much, but still nice to see as an option.)
The service and food was amazing; we definitely had a very positive experience there. Would definitely go back again! Only thing was this the food and drinks took a little longer then we would have liked but totally understandable seeing as they were super busy on that Friday night.
Great location, fun atmosphere, very good food, fun choices of beer, good live music.
I enjoyed the singer but the noise level made conversation impossible. Maybe adjust tables or add textiles to deaden sound. The atmosphere was extremely loud.
Love the pork belly bao and coconut based Hiwa beer
