Signature Warm Butter Cake
Let me start by thanking Brian the mgr, As i let him know about the disappointment in our evening, he graciously waved his magic wand and took some off the bill, totally unexpected and very appreciated. We’ve been coming to Mastro’s for years, and love it, and our regular server Erin , shes the best , She ended up having the night off tonight and we were given Michael who the hostess a shirt as will take great care of us. Well he did our drinks came after appetizers we had the flag down for everything he had plenty of time for the five tops that he had smelled yes but apparently not a two top that he kept saying do you want me to take these other place settings away when I clearly said it will be shut down our friends are coming closer to the end of a meal so please leave them because they’re going to join us for dessert. I knew when drinks came after appetizers we were in trouble. I noticed when he took our order he did he didn’t tell us the specials, but I heard him tell both the 5 top of gentleman, and the 4 top behind me . I’m in the restaurant business, and know exactly what was going on !! This sever thought “ oh a 2 top on my 4 top table, well i’m super busy so they won’t be a priority!” He couldn’t have been more wrong about us!! Not only being in the business, but normally having Erin, we always tip 50%!!!! Micheal very gave us the impression that he “judged this book by its cover!” We sat for 10 min after our bread and water came, trying to place a drink and appetizer order. Finally I flagged him down . Appetizers came and were almost finished by the time our drinks were delivered!! Normally after we finish up apps the server or SA presets the table with fresh silverware, IE: steak knives and fresh forks, that never happened, So I had to flag someone down for steak knives for us both . I ask Michael for a napkin, he disappeared came back about five minutes later with napkin
It just stayed in that vein for entire meal. Just a real fail tonite
We always enjoy our special dinners at Mastro’s! Last night did not disappoint. Michael, our waiter, made the evening so memorable for our birthday celebration!
Austin is the best server hands down!
Great food and great service as usual. Thx.
Hard to believe they now charge $5 bucks for bread. At $70 a steak and least give us free bread. Out of principal, will now go to a different steakhouse.
They made my daughter’s 13th birthday dinner excellent!!! We will be back.
Great dinner and drinks with my husband! Sat in the bar area. Loved the old fashion drinks and the piano player was so amazing. The vibe is fun and upscale. 5 star services as well.
Excellent quality all around, perfectly prepared and 5 star service, above and beyond from everyone.
Recommend Jalapeño Tuna Sashimi, A5 Waygu Filet, New York, Caesar Salad, 1lb. Potato, Cheese Cake and the Butter Cake was out of this world delicious! Joanna our server was so kind, fun, warm and attentive, balancing all her customers with true professionalism. Manager on duty Britney was over seeing everything and truly hands on. Valet was prompt, warm and professional. Lovely atmosphere and the singer at the piano was truly my favorite ever. Enchanting voice, belting out hit after hit, I did want to catch her name, think I’ll call and ask. A huge thank you to the entire team at Mastro’s last night for making our visit so memorable, you truly know how to host!
We had a wonderful time and the service was both professional and pleasant!
Wonderful all around!!
We had an amazing time last night. Food was exceptional, service was impeccable
They did give us a table behind the kitchen which is a little separate room and our favorite place to sit. Food was great I thoroughly enjoyed myself
Great service, amazing food and wonderful ambiance!
Always a 5 star experience especially with Marco as he takes it to a whole new level 😃😋
This is not the high end experience that it used to be. Items not carried anymore, service was mediocre, not what you would expect for those prices. I would go to Tuscany for a better experience.
This was our first time visiting Mastro’s and we enjoyed it, from the service to the food, our experience was amazing. Definitely a place to visit for a special occasion or just for drinks.
Everything was great as Mastro's Steakhouse as it usually is and then the power went out. When adversity raises it's head the good get great. All in all it was a great night made better by the power going out.
Mastro’s is one of our favorite restaurants and we always have a great meal there. Unfortunately, last night we were disappointed to see that they changed their famous pretzel bread. The new version is nowhere near as good…much denser and harder. Also, the lobster tails that we usually add to our steak dinners were different. Not sure if they changed those as well, but they were chewy and never like that before. Hope this is a one time thing!
Our server was very friendly. I brought wine to the restaurant. We were advised there was a corkage fee, and I expected to pay it without question. I was shocked to see that from July 2021, the last time we were there, the corkage fee is now $50/bottle. I think that is excessive. Furthermore, our server, though very friendly, apparently is unfamiliar with wine service as he refilled our glasses EVERY TIME we took a sip.
I understand that there are expenses, but now the bread service, which had previously been complimentary, is now a $5 menu item, which was not explained to us. We were simply asked if we wanted bread for the table. Lesson: READ the menu before agreeing to anything.
Also, the house salad, which had been previously a mix of baby greens, was now a generic chopped iceberg lettuce salad. There is already a chopped wedge salad on the menu.
Our 46th anniversary and the staff made it perfect! Thank you
Love Mastro’s in Thousand Oaks. I have celebrated almost every holiday, birthday & special occasion there for many years. But when a restaurant that charges $75 for a steak and almost $20 for a martini is greedy & tacky enough to start charging $5 for bread on the table it becomes such a turn off that I’m not sure I’ll be going back. I wonder how many thousands worth of customers they’re losing in trying to make that extra $5. 🤷♀️
800$ for dinner for six people….and the food/service not worth even half that. We asked for bread which took 45 minutes. We felt ignored by our waitress, having to repeat things several times to have them brought to the table. The food was ok. The cream corn lacked flavor. The Brussel sprouts were too saturated with oil. The steaks simply lacked flavor. We were so disappointed.
Food was not up to quality as in the past. Lobster was dry. Steak was chewy
Service and ambiance great
We were extremely disappointed in the food and service. The server wasn’t friendly and he kept leaving for long periods of time so if we needed something, it took 20-30 minutes in between each time he came back, we would have liked to order more drinks but this made it near impossible. Our entire party ordered filets, 1/2 of the steaks were over cooked when we all asked for medium rare. Nobody likes an overcooked filet that has a consistency of beef jerky, especially when it’s $53 per person including children. The manager was VERY arrogant. This was not the first time we’ve been disappointed by the food and service but it will be the last. We’ll stick to Larsen’s and Ruth’s Chris where we’ve never had a bad experience.
It’s was our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Sadly, my medium plus filet was more medium rare. By the time I was able to get our waiter, and then get my steak back, my party was done eating AND my steak was still medium rare. Not a great Christmas Eve dinner, and really no compensation for it. I understand the staff was busy, I really do, but for the price I expect perfection.
Went on Christmas Eve for a special family dinner and was very disappointed. After being seated it took 40 min to receive our drinks. We ordered the 40 oz Tomahawk for $175 and requested it medium +. The steak was beyond rare. We were 20 min into our disappointing meal before anyone checked on us. After 3 hours I needed to track down our waiter to pay so we could finally leave. I'm sure they were busy and understaffed but we were tucked in a back room and forgotten about. We spent $800 for a very underwhelming meal. Sad to say I will not be back.
Once again Mastro's was everything I expected. Was not disappointed.
Our dinner was a very important business dinner. We made reservations a month before. We were put in this back room after walking through the kitchen. So disappointed. We will not be back
Food was fabulous. Our waiter was wonderful and the butter cake is Devine. Happy Holiday's!!
What a great meal with great service. Had Chris as our server and he was amazing as usual. Just love this place. FYI corkage fee now $50 buck so make sure your bottle is worth it.
Arrived a few minutes early and waited in bar to be seated. Service at the bar was great. When seated we had to wait over 25 minutes to just place an order so instead of ordering an appetizer we just ordered all the food. Time waiting for appetizers was good but felt unattended for most of the night which makes you have a bad taste to want to go back. When spending this kind of money the service should be exquisite not mediocre. Will probably not go back to this location but overall food is great which always brings us back.
Waiter seemed to be more attentive to other tables . We were a group of 4. Waiting for drink refills, bread refills ect. Had to ask for more drinks, to see a dessert menu. In all my visits to Mastros this was the worst
Very nice atmosphere, we were there for a special work dinner and everything was perfect, the service, the friendliness, the food.
Food was perfect and service was great. Really enjoy this restaurant group. Wife and I have dinned In many of their locations over the years. All are great.
Absolutely rude staff - inept and not thoughtful. Had no desire to stay and pay for overpriced food. From entry to exit, incredibly disappointed.
Great service doesn’t begin to describe our experience. The food was amazing! It was a memorable event to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The Raspberry Martini and it’s amazing presentation will be remembered for a long time.
Excellent service by All the staff
We will definitely make Mastro’s a frequent destination .. Great Job Mastro’s
Good meal. Food was good, service was excellent. Very Pricey though.
You can’t beat Mastro’s! It is the best of the best! The food and the service is above and beyond!
I have eaten and entertained at Mastro's more than a dozen times. I have never been disappointed in the service and food, although the main dining room is too loud for me, so I always request seating in the quiet room.
