Engagement dinner
At least it is open. Outside only...a bit cold. Great food.
Amazing food and 5 star service from Marco as always !!
A birthday celebration. When we expressed disappointment at the adapted menu, our waiter told us to be grateful they were open. Met with a lot of clear disdain to be working and lots of attitude throughout.
Even under the circumstances, we enjoyed our dinner. Great service and server. Food as usual, excellent.
We were happy find an open restaurant during covid. The outdoor area was nice and the food was fine as well. Our waiter was kind so this doesn’t go against him... but the corkage fee of $50 per bottle was extremely high and unexpected. We feel we should have been told beforehand since we brought several bottles to celebrate my birthday.
Safe and enjoyable. Always a favorite place to dine!
Very amazing food. The service was friendly and helpful.
The early pack up was a distraction but understandable
The food is always exceptional here. You just can't go wrong. The butter cake is second to none. Service was very disappointing this time. Not the norm but this trip was not good. Food is amazing so will for sure be back.
Dining was outside due to state wide ordinance. But they made the best of it. Food was outstanding as usual.
Service was great and the accommodations were nice given the situation.
We had and early reservation and were lucky enough to be sat at the few tables located in the front lawn of the restaurant (reminder this was during COVID-19, so outdoor dining only). The accommodations were nice and the outdoor heaters and string lighting made it feel intimate. Overall the meal was good, my steak (porterhouse) was cooked to near perfection!
food was absolutely amazing! take this with the fact we are in a covid environment, outside dining was good but when inside dining opens again, beautiful place!! quality of the food, service, and cocktails... hard to beat!!
Noosha was great and our food came in hot with no issues
Great service by all staff and our meals were truly outstanding.
Outside dinning not the same experience as regular dinning.
Outstanding amazing 🤩 experience must go back for sure !!!
First time at Mastro’s. Overall, was wonderful experience. Had nice outside tent in place for outside CoVid dining. Server was friendly and attentive. Food was fantastic. My daughter and I split a filet and crab legs. Biggest crab leg I have ever been served! We also had a Cesar salad and amazing big baked potato with all the toppings. Only 2 complaints. Very, very, pricey and you could smell employees smoking marijuana in the parking lot on break. But would still return.
Very obvious that the manger has zero hospitality experience. We understood that there is a 10 pm curfew, but to have the busboys come over to you table at 9:25 and start clearing your table...while we are eating..is absurd. We are very patient and supportive of the industry with the current shutdowns...but when we are spending $500 for a dinner, at the minimum we expect some courtesy. The manager was unapologetic and dismissive. She acted as though all the customers there were a burden and was very rude. To really top it off, they began to turn off all the heaters at 9:45...literally freezing people out on purpose. Last time we will go to a Mastros!! It you are looking to spend 500 for a dinner and be treated horribly, this is the place for you.
After CA shut down restaurants in LA County we opted for Maestros in Thousand Oaks and it was FABULOUS!! Staff were great, food amazing, eating outside under an Oak tree and lights was fun. My husband gets chilly so he opted for the seat nearest to the outdoor heater. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and look forward to returning soon.
BF visiting
Service was amazing
The food is amazing. The lobsters are gigantic. The food is served warm.
The creamed corn was congealed and inedible. Had it not been Thanksgiving, all of the food would have been sent back. The price per pound for crab legs and bone in rib eye cost more for shell and none than the meat. NEVER again. It was disgusting, way too pricey for awful food, and it ruined our holiday.
We went to Mastro's on Thanksgiving expecting a memorable evening. Unfortunately it was memorable but in not a good way. They basically put tables in front of the street on Thousand Oaks Blvd. and expects customers to enjoy their experience. It was freezing and the heaters did not make a dent. The wind was blowing hard. Basically, they never should have seated people there. It was insulting. Raymond, our server, was the highlight of the evening.
The service, the food, and overall, Mastro's deserve 5 stars.
Ambience - It was a cold and very windy night. It would have been nice to have more heaters close to each table. We were pleased to see one between ours and the next table as we were being seated. Before we knew it, the heater was moved right next to the other table but it did not ruin the evening. We came prepared with coats and scarves.
Value - Comparable excellent cuisine in other fine dining restaurants are available for less but Mastro's was one of the few open for Thanksgiving, so we knew what we were getting into. We read reviews so we were aware that you charge $2.50 for a bread basket. Since your servers do not let diners know that, it would be a good idea to list that on your menu.
This was a holiday dinner and the service and food were horrible.
I love Maestro's, but the filet was not juicy or as tender as in my past visits. It seemed dry. I was disappointed. The crab cocktail was the best item of the night. It was excellent. I appreciated the birthday cheesecake on the house. Service was very good.
I took my husband for his birthday. The server didn’t check on us as she should have. It took them 20 mins just to bring our drink. I noticed the server asked all other tables if they are celebrating anything but we weren’t asked about it.
Food was delicious. We really enjoyed our meal despite the service.
We had a great outdoor dining experience. We sat in the front and it was nice with the lights in the trees. The food was great as always. Our server was awesome, sadly I forgot her name. Felt very safe and clean.
Good as always. Ambiance was good given the COVID limitations.
I was disappointed with the accommodation of the latest indoor dining shutdown. My reservation was bumped to a far less desirable time. The reason given was new COVID restrictions taking away the INDOOR seating at the restaurant. However, my previously made reservation was specifically for OUTDOOR seating. Whether I made the outdoor arrangement out of caution or foresight or desire to be outside, and whether the other diners made indoor reservations out of convenience or disbelief in the danger or whatever, I do not understand how an OUTDOOR reservation is bumped due to an INDOOR reservation losing their table. The reason given was that the reservations were viewed in the order made. Clearly unfair. When I questioned a manager who randomly came by our table to ask how things were with our evening, he was rude, taking an "offense is the best defense" approach, citing COVID. I expect more from a high end place!
We had never been here before and were looking forward to a nice birthday dinner.
I had looked online for the menu ahead of time and was sold on the French onion soup and scalloped potatoes. Both were not on the menu when we arrived. This may have been a Covid casualty, I don’t know. I ordered the New York médium-medium well and my husband ordered a bone in rib eye medium-rare. Our appetizers were good. Salad and lobster bisque. The steaks came and my husbands was cooked perfectly but he said it lacked flavor. Mine came and was completely gray all the way through. Having converted to pink meat in my young adulthood, I still ate my steak because I had eaten many a well-done steak in my day. It was acceptable, but not for the price. The sides were good - I don’t recommend going crispy on the French fried potatoes. Garlic mashed potatoes were not filled with a garlic flavor, which was fine for me, but if you like garlic there definitely wasn’t enough for you. The star of the show was the butter cake for dessert, which we devoured.
Overall it was a pleasant meal, the server was very helpful (sent back our fries and didn’t make us feel weird about it), and the butter cake was a birthday surprise ordered by her. Some of the larger parties were loud but that didn’t take away from our experience.
My biggest reason for not recommending it highly is that for the price of that meal, we expected solidly phenomenal steaks and memorably good sides. We probably won’t go again, and will try out some other local steakhouses instead.
Our server Brittany was a pleasure. Attentive without being intrusive. The food was great as always. The only done side was they didn't have the Key Lime pie.
I’m not sure who dropped the ball here but I made a reservation for a table inside on open table I arrive and they didn’t have my reservation said I don’t know who made the mistake here either Mastro’s or open table but either way it wasn’t what I expected
Awesome service and still amazing food. Great job as respects Covid 19 protocol.
Best steakhouse in the area! They do an excellent job of managing the restaurant during Covid19. Steaks are always cooked to order perfection, our favorite is sharing the porterhouse. The Chef cuts it and it is served with the bone in the center of the table. The Dungeness Crab cocktail is a favorite, and the service portion is worth the splurge. The side dishes are always good, and always hard to narrow down which ones we will order. Our fantastic server, Brittney, suggested we do a half order of the fries. Thank you - it is perfectly sized for two people, in fact plentiful. As for Brittney, she is a gem - you will be very happy if you are seated in her section. She is personable, attentive without being intrusive and makes certain that we were taken care of and happy thoughout the dining experience. Kudo's to Matthew at the reception desk, he accommodated our special request - thank you. Honestly, Mastro's Thousand Oaks is a wonderful dining experience. We will be so happy when restrictions allow the entertainment to return. Its a classy steakhouse with exceptional quality food, classically prepared to order and service with Brittney makes it an evening to enjoy. OH - and we actually found a reasonable and quality wine on the list tonight. Sometimes the wine pricing is a bit much here.
We always enjoy Mastro‘s , The food service is usually on point , The problem was in the end of the meal when we requested to check it took the waitress proximately 30 minutes to bring the billWaiting for this was a long time and very annoying
Went to celebrate our daughter-in-law’s birthday. The food was amazing! Everyone loved what they ordered. The staff was so friendly and accommodating!
We were there to celebrate my parents 65th anniversary. And had a wonderful experience. The food and service were outstanding.
Love dining here. I come 2-3 times a year. Service and food is always excellent. Chefs cut rib eye is my go to. Mac and cheese and sautéed shrimp are delicious.
