A great 89th birthday dinner for my father. The food was great, including steaks as well as the seafood options and the service was exceptional.
Thank you so much for the personalized menu for our birthday celebration. Our waiter, Rice, was fantastic.
The food was excellent. The service was impeccable. It lived up to its reputation
A big disappointment. The food was OK, but many steakhouses in the District (Ocean Prime, Bobby Van's, St. Anselm, just to name a few) are better and less expensive. Sparking water (no other drinks), two appetizers, and two entrees (no dessert) ran $275 with tax and tip (around $40 more than the competition). The service was also deeply disappointing. The server was somewhat arrogant, a bit patronizing, and overall not particularly helpful. We will not be going back.
Beautiful restaurant. Our service Rice was amazing. The stone crab claws at $35 each were supposed to be collosal (7 oz each.) What we received were medium at best. They did offer us an extra small one but that was unacceptable.
Excellent dining experience! We dined at a table close to the live entertainment. It was an awesome experience. The service was great. Nicole initially served us in the dining room and she was outstanding!! I don’t recall our server in the bar area.
So dimly lit, everyone required a flashlight to read menu. Steak ordered medium comes on superheated platter that overcooks it. App of smoked salmon, while good, could serve 3. Better to downsize it and charge less.
Three of us had an intimate dinner for my son's 21st birthday. Mastro's delivered as expected...great service, great food, and great ambiance! Craft cocktails are really good. Love the volcano drinks!
The live duo was great!
Great food and service! We will be back whenever we are in Washington!
Great food, nice ambiance and Evan recommended the perfect wine.
Everything was great... from the food to the service. Our waiter was Sam and he was brilliant! Very knowledgeable and personable. I would definitely recommend him.
Fantastsic dining experience! Perfect!
Restaurant week is a great time to go, but still an expensive meal with drinks and add-ons. The food was excellent!
The service was to bad to reccomend to a friend. The waiter was more concerned about the party of 8 than myself and my wife.
Absolutely!!! I would also recommend that they request "Rice" as their server... He is the BEST!!! We have been to Mastro's quite a few times... I consider it one of my favorite restaurants, if not my favorite...
The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Can’t wait to come back!
My first time here. It was simply amazing. From the wait staff to the live music. I can’t wait to return!
Awesome!! Loved the steak
My friends and I went for a birthday party. I cannot explain how delicious everything was! Our server Madison was wonderful and explained the menu to us very well. The warm butter pound cake dessert was to die for! It was a great experience!
I enjoy Mastro’s especially when you have live music and the atmosphere is very effervescent! On this night, we were celebrating a birthday and the wait staff seemed to be taxed and it showed in how short they were and unaccommodating.
I had to send my steak back because it was undercooked but outside of that it was great.
Excellent waiter that provided great service. Thank you for a great experience.
The food is incredible. Such a great vibe. Friday is live music and we had a blast. Thank you for a great experience
Our experience at Mastro's was hands down the best one I've ever had at a restaurant. Our waiter Evan treated us like we were the only patrons in the place even though I know he had several tables at one time. I'm going to request him every time we go. Bring deep pockets, Mastro's is expensive, but worth every penny!!
My friends & I went to Mastro’s for dinner during restaurant week. We made the reservation in advance, thankfully, since the place was packed! The food was delicious & service was excellent! We all committed to coming back for another incredible meal soon. We enjoyed the perfectly cooked steak, jalapeño tuna sashimi, and warm butter cake with ice cream. Yum yum yum!
The only minor downfall was the noise...it was loud. The music is played louder than it should be on the dining floor. At times, we realized we were only having convos with the people on our side of the table as opposed to our friends across the table because we couldn’t hear them very well.
I went for restaurant week and I thought it was a great idea to check an upscale restaurant during that week. The food was disgusting especially the Mac n cheese and the food presentation was terrible. The waitress was nice but I wouldn’t go back to try other things on the menu.
My steak was undercooked. The only thing I enjoyed was the butter cake.
This place has been on my radar for a while and I wanted to scout it out for a potential special occasion spot (birthday, graduation, etc) so restaurant week was a perfect time to stop by. We were seated promptly and greeted by the waitstaff however we had to ask for bread several times (our first course arrived before the bread did). After our first course we sat for 45 min waiting for our main course, in fact they brought our first course AGAIN by mistake so I could tell there was some confusion in the kitchen. Finally our meal arrived and wow it was delicious, but no apologies or acknowledgement of the wait. Our dessert was yummy but nothing spectacular! Hesitant to try again with the heavy price tag
Food was great but barely any time between splays d enter which was not acceptable as my entre day for while . Bread cake out with entre vs with drinks . Expected much better timing for this type restaurant. Although it was RW timing was really off. I’ve gone to other high end places during RW and never experienced food coming out that fast or not timed out between courses
Big restaurant with 2 levels of dining space. Upper level (street level) with louder music and dimmer light, lower level much quieter and more relaxed atmosphere, get seated here if you want to have quieter conversation, upstairs for more clubby ambiance. Excellent food and service, great desserts!
Always great to come during restaurant week - it's the only RW meal that's DEFINITELY worth it. Love Mastros!
Yes, service and food was excellent. Outstanding service and food during a busy restaurant week.
Note noise level a little loud in entry, otherwise great!
Yesterday I had a 7:00pm reservation at Mastro’s for two people under the name Pitts. We arrived promptly at 7:00pm. We reserved a high top table but there were none available when we arrived so we were seated else where. Our table was located near the doors to a large private event so we were forced to deal with lot of people walking in and out to the event all evening.
When our food arrived the waiter placed everything on the table but did not serve us our side dishes. We were the only table in our vicinity that was not served. The food was great, as always, but we were rushed out by our waiter because of restaurant week.
Once we exited the restaurant to retrieve our car from the valet we were handed the keys as the valet pointed to the block our car was parked on. The valet said he was extremely busy and was unable to retrieve our car. We then walked to our car even though we paid for valet service.
Overall I was highly unsatisfied with the service we received. As a loyal Mastro’s customer I expect a certain level of service that was not received last night. I understand it was crowded because of restaurant week but there is no excuse for the poor service.
Our waitperson, Al, was fabulous. Attentive without being a nudge. It was restaurant week and a great value for the price. We ordered a cocktail first. They were all delicious and the presentation for the Lemon Drop Martini was a wow factor. With regards to the food...onion soup was delicious but scanty; the Mambo salad was very soggy and way over dressed; filet and pork chop both delicious. We ordered a baked potato and split it three ways. The presentation of the meat was lacking. Plates way to big for the portion size. Basically unattractive. Bare looking. Desserts were well portioned and delicious. Overall ambience is nice except the music was so loud we had to lean in to talk. We all decided we would probably not return for dinner because of the loudness of the music and the selection. If you are spending $150 (or more) per person for dinner, you expect a certain vibe.....this would not be it.
Wonderful experience while celebrating my birthday. THANK YOU!
My birthday dinner was amazing! Amazing food and service.
Someone has just supplanted Ruth’s Chris as a favorite!
