   This was our first time here for dinner and the food would have been much better if it was served hot. Since it is a one sitting same meal for everyone, they need to find a way to keep the food hotter. I think this is a better lunch place than a dinner spot.

   My girlfriends and I had dinner here one evening during a girls weekend. It was such a special experience! The ambience is really neat and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

   I almost hate to leave a review for Mast Farm Inn because I'd like to keep it a secret. Arriving, it's hard to believe it is real and not a movie set because it is PERFECT. The atmosphere is cozy and quaint. There's a small card room with a fire. The bar is the quiet, intimate place you'd like to end your day with a drink. Your meal is what they are serving (pre-set menu)-OR you can order what you want. And the food-the cheese biscuits are delicious. Simple but lovely presentation. The service is attentive and will answer any question, about the inn, the food, or the area,

   Special evening. Fixed price menu was unimaginative. Cosmo was bitter and way too much lime. High light was our delightful server. The evening reminded me of a hotel catered dinner at a recent conference. Worthy of Marriott, not of a trip to this enchanting inn.

   The “menu” consists of ONE item, a baked chicken breast. If you don’t like chicken you are out of luck! The cost of a chicken breast meal for two with a glass of wine is $182.

   Mast Farm InnResponded on November 9, 2022We served you rolls w/pumpkin butter, fire roasted tomato soup, Blackened Chicken Breast w/Sweet Potato Puree & Ginger Roasted Baby Carrots Finished with a Maple Miso Reduction, & Roasted Peach Cobbler w/ Verbena Whipped Cream and 2 glasses of top shelf champagne (you were warned it is $20 per glass). On the menu this year is trout, salmon, beef wellington, sirloin, pork tenderloin, and more. We had 3 individual diners that night ask to speak to chef b/c they were so impressed with the meal.

    Lovely historic setting, dinner was ok - soup and desert courses were excellent but the main dish underwhelmed. Very attentive service but also thought the wine selection was limited and not well curated. Fantastic old fashioned cocktail - lesson: stick with the booze, maybe try breakfast :)

    The food & service were outstanding…especially the mushroom soup and tiramisu! I wish there had been a sweet wine option like Moscato or a Riesling to enjoy with dinner or dessert. It was very dark walking up the cobblestone pathway at 7:20pm. The porch lights had not been turned on. Better lighting on the cobblestone pathway from the parking area would have helped as well. The parking across the street was also without lights when we arrived. The parlor was not particularly cozy or inviting and the decor was sparse. I have wanted to go inside the Inn since I first saw it in 2001…I must admit I was a little disappointed. Something else I did not expect was mismatched china, that certainly did not look like “my grandmother’s china”. It looked cheap. I would have loved more attention to matching place settings for $56 per person.

Local potters have put their work together and they loaned it to us for the weekend - hours were spent on each setting. They were deeply saddened by your comments. Thanks for telling us about the lights, we turned them on as soon as we were informed - the breaker had gotten flipped. We strongly disagree about the parlor - many spend happy evenings enjoying that cozy space

    Great discussion with Melody who came to our table and chatted us up! Rheanna welcomed us in, recommended a wine for us, and generally made sure everyone had what they needed. The food was amazing. This was my second experience attending dinner and I can’t wait to go back!

    Lovely cozy dining room for a nice meal. It can get a little loud but the night we went it was fine. The food was very good - Caesar Salad delicious, Beef Wellington was very tender and good (although I would have preferred the beef a bit more rare), Orange Marmalade cake dense and delicious. Can't not mention the yeast rolls and pumpkin butter as they are divine! Only meal suggestion is that the asparagus puree didn't enhance the flavor of the beef - a heavier meat-flavored reduction sauce would have. Their brewed coffee is great as well. Service is excellent and Rianna is fabulous! So personable, attentive and knowledgeable. She is an asset to the experience. While this is not an inexpensive meal, ingredients are fresh, often local, and you can tell carefully chosen. I would recommend a wine list considering a small glass of what seemed to be a house wine (just a verbal mention it was a red when we were offered it it) is $18. Other than that I would certainly recommend this for a special meal and intimate dinner.

    First visit. Dinner was great. Best Salmon I have had in quite sometime; actually perfect ( and I don’t care for salmon but endure it for my wife who loves it), in fact if I could cook salmon like this I could have it every 3 days, Everything else was equally good. Service great.

    Mast Farm Inn's breakfast was more than wonderful. Our server was very personable and made sure we had everything we needed for our meal. I am so glad Mast Farm Inn has started allowing the public to come in for breakfast. We truly enjoy the food, atmosphere, and experience.

    Staying nearby we stepped in for breakfast. Great location and very friendly staff to start; menu is fixed daily and it was amazing with the tartlet to start and stuffed french toast for the main course. It was a great experience and we definitely want to return and stay at the Inn!

    We chose Mast Farm Inn so we wouldn’t have to drive back into Boone. The restaurant was very cozy and nice. The food was tasty. It was a 3 course dinner - salad, pork chop with risotto & asparagus and dessert. My only complaint was how expensive everything turned out to be. The cheapest glass of wine was $9.00 which is a little on the pricey side for me.. Plus for the price, it seems it would’ve been a filet or something comparable. My bill with tip was $190. If money is no object, I would definitely recommend but if you are trying to watch your spend, I would suggest somewhere else.

    Took my daughter for her birthday and it was the best experience ever. She loved it so much she said next time we are in Banner Elk we need to eat here again. The breakfast was amazing and the service was amazing. Would highly recommend.

    Whenever I step into the doors of Mast Farm Inn the inviting atmosphere makes me I feel like I’m getting a refreshing hug as all my cares and woes melt away. It’s a shelter from the storms of life. You feel it through the friendly server who makes you feel known and cared for, through the staff who are confident and caring in all that they do, and through the heart warming food that soothes your weary soul. Can’t wait for our next visit!

    Delicious and refreshing watermelon salad. Tasty apple pie for dessert. Unremarkable main course - chicken. Friendly and efficient service.

Our dinner chef and dessert chef were in a cheerful competition and you gave the dessert chef her first glance at victory as all of our other diners went on and on about how amazing the chicken was. Empty plates and to-go boxes were the story of the night as no one wanted to let a bite of that beer-can chicken go to waste. And friendly service to boot! So, while we disagree with the 3 stars, our apple pie baker isn't mad about your opinion.

    The filet was excellent with a generous amount of sauce that was delicious. The brownie with the peanut butter custard was decadent. The perfect meal for Father’s Day. Even though we live here full time, I feel like it is a mini vacation in the country. Service was excellent. I appreciate the follow up email from the owner, a personal touch. Looking forward to our next visit.

    Front desk (darling young lady whose name I’ve forgotten) and even housekeepers we encountered while touring property- all so thoughtful, helpful & cheerful. Our server Velva was delightful. I guess it would be difficult to ruin that place. We enjoyed everything! The temp sauna service is a very cool add on.

    The new owners have outdone themselves with all the new features of the Inn. As a local, we were not able to enjoy the Inn as much in the past unless staying there. Now, they have opened the beautiful Valle Tavern where we can stop by for a drink, they offer breakfast and lunch for locals and host wonderful meals like the Mother’s Day brunch we went to this past weekend. The food and service were outstanding and the quaint Inn is so beautiful! We are looking forward to enjoying many more visits to the Mast Farm Inn.

    We had booked this as our family’s Easter brunch thinking it would be a good variety of many choices. Instead it was a fixed menu of very limited choices. While it was very good, it just didn’t meet our expectations. But in all fairness the food was quality and delicious. Great setting.

    Mast Farm Inn is an absolute gem - whether you want a well crafted cocktail in the adorable newly renovated bar or a full blown 3 course meal for a special occasion; this is a spot in the High Country not to be missed. We started off as tourists here, even staying for our honeymoon almost 10 years ago and fell in love with the charm and the insane quality of food. It seriously is one of the best brunches I have had and I lived in Manhattan for 3 years. We are now full time residents in the area and this is our first choice for holidays, date nights or "just because" experiences. They have preserved the historic nature of the property but have also done some impressive modernization in the past year. It is the perfect blend of quaint and hip!

    We booked a quick weekend trip to the mountains and was able to nab an early breakfast at Mast Farm Inn. We were quickly seated towards the back and had the room to ourselves. Our food was served promptly. It was a great little adventure that we highly recommend.

    The Mast Farm Inn is a jewel in Valle Crucis and now under new ownership. My wife and I visited the Inn to participate in a special Valentine’s dinner. The overall experience was impacted by a couple situations which should be corrected. Our table was next to the swinging door which leads to the kitchen. Every time a server entered or exited the door, a rush of air hit me in the back of my neck/head. The wine pairings were not served in a timely manner. The bar tender couldn’t provide a bourbon with one “rock”. The bar did not have the bourbon I ordered from the menu. The wine pairings were not the same quality as the food. We love the Inn and will return with confidence that improvements will be made.
