I ordered a $30 halibut. It came with 3 thin slices (not fillets) of fish, a small amount of white polenta and 1 slice of asparagus. While it tasted good, the portions were way too small (especially the asparagus) for $30. Too bad. We will not return in spite of its convenient location and lovely ambiance.
Great food! The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Very happy with our experience and we will for sure come back!
A birthday celebration. The service was excellent as usual. The special Halibut was so amazing. Everything from the shrimp cocktail starter to the Waldorf and Cesar salad were delicious.
Great piece of fresh halibut perfectly cooked, service was excellent and even though it was warm outside, it’s the best place to sit and watch Walnut Creek come alive on a Friday night.
Very nice for granddaughter’s birthday. Great service & delicious food.
Anniversary dinner. Service was amazing. Food was great, but the Angus steak was not up to par.
Excellent food and service. Never had a bad meal in the 9 years of eating at Massimo's.
Great food and great service. First time there in over 20 years and we weren’t disappointed. Will definitely return.
The food and service never disappoint. We enjoyed my birthday dinner there.
Always a great dinner At Massimo. Food and service are first rate. Good value.
Both trips to this restaurant resulted in great service! Carbonara is delicious!!!
I indicated on the reservation and informed the waitress that my wife has a shrimp allergy. As we were eating our appetizer, we saw a shrimp in the food. I informed the waitress as my wife went to take Benadryl, I was floored when the waitress said that she didn’t eat the shrimp! My wife has had severe reactions to food just being cooked in the same oil as shrimp. Regardless of the severity of her reaction, the oversight was very disappointing and changed the tune of my birthday. The rest of the food was great but not sure if my wife will ever trust the restaurant to return.
My wife and I have been eater there for years. We've eaten all over town and there are a LOT of excellent restaurants in Walnut Creek, but Massimo is just plain consistently excellent time after time. We have never had a bad meal or experience at Massimo and I'd guess we've had dinner there alone and with friends at least fifty times over the last decade. The owner, Max, is often there. He ALWAYS makes us feel at home. He's a true gentleman, a quality person, and he keeps the standards consistently high. If anyone asks me for a restaurant recommendation for anywhere in the East Bay I am going to name Massimo first and then list a few other excellent alternatives (Va Da Vi, Telefernic) -- but Massimo is number one on my list.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. This place checks all the boxes and we love it.
Our first time at Massimo. Wonderful experience. I had the special of the night, halibut with artichoke risotto. Delicious! The halibut was perfectly seared and the risotto the ideal accompaniment. My wife had the truffle ravioli which was to die for. The wine from the house wine list was half price. A nice surprise. Service was excellent. Out waitress was friendly and very helpful in our selection process. We are definitely going back.
We sat outside. The food was delicious. The carpaccio was awesome. We had the bean/sausage soup (daily special), pasta, flank steak, fish of the day, etc. Each dish was very well prepared. You could tell the ingredients were fresh. The service was excellent. Daniele was around enough to ensure we had what we needed but did not hover. Overall, a very nice experience.
An amazing salmon entree cooked to perfection. A very attentive waiter who was very personable which made for a very enjoyable birthday luncheon for a dear friend!
I’ve lived in the area for over 30 years and just haven’t been to Massimo before. I went there for lunch the food was excellent the service was excellent and it was a good value. Definitely going back.
Excellent food; excellent service. It was pleasant sitting outside on the patio. We will be back!
Massimo is my favorite restaurant in Walnut Creek, it has been in business since the 1970's and always feels warm and inviting and the food is always excellent.
Consistently excellent food and service. The grilled salmon is perfection.
Great time great food will go again. Nice place to celebrate
We have been to Massimo's many times and will return many more. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding, Danyel was attentive, very pleasant, and professional. We will see you again soon.
I had the special: Halibut with polenta. It was delicious. My client had the Carbonara pasta. The service was amazing. The wine selection was very detail and inclusive. I will be back.
We have been going to Massimo for many years, which in itself is a positive review. Max and the waitstaff are so welcoming and warm that we look forward to each visit with anticipation. The food is consistently good and the service is excellent. Listening to the pianist in the evening before going to the theatre is another added delight.
Has a nice atmosphere but I was surprised to pay $18 for 2 (yes 2) scallops. They were okay. Wowza! Pricey place. I don’t mind paying for good meals but I do t like throwing money away.
We enjoyed our meal and the wine. The service was excellent and the evening was very enjoyable.
Great food and wonderful service. Little light on the alcohol in the drinks. We were celebrating our 5th Anniversary and they sat us at a really nice table so we can sit cozy next to each other. I would travel the extra distance to eat at this restaurant.
We have been coming to Massimo for several years now and have never been disappointed.
We love this restaurant because of the ambiance and the good food and service. It is also conveniently situated very near the Lesher Center for the Arts with ample parking across the street.
Was greeted as we walked in, seated quickly, waitress was awesome (Very attentive, made sure we were doing alright our entire meal, very friendly). Food was amazing, cooked to perfection. Atmosphere is upscale, but not uptight. Highly recommend Massimo Ristorante, will be dining there again. Thank you Massimo Ristorante staff, Christopher Crismon.
Enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner at Massimo and as always it was lovely. Our server was especially attentive and courteous.
We had an outstanding meal celebrating our 48th Wedding Anniversary! Service was very attentive. Highly recommended.
Long time favorite. Max, the owner is always welcoming. Paula is positive, friendly, helpful and efficient.
We love dining at Massimo! Host Marcus, bartender David and server Shawna all made a sincere effort to make our dining experience so much fun. Already looking forward to our next visit.
Have dined here several times. Always a consistent value with great service. Really enjoy the live piano--so much nicer than the places that blare annoying loud music while you're dining. Recommended!
This is our go to place for special occasions. Can be noisy when full, so I could do without the piano player on busy nights. ( Not there this time. ) Wedge salad and bean soup both excellent Crab Ravioli and filet Mignon both reliably very good.
Mothers day and restaurant was moderately (not so) busy. Waiters rushing around and literally crashing into each other and guests as well. What's the rush? Our waiter and others bumped into tables, guests and each other multiple times. As we were getting up to leave a waitress with a full platter of empty glasses bumped into my wife who was on her way towards the door. Waiter spilled ice on the table and forgot one of the desserts. Entree Meat was hot but pasta and veg under the Chicken Parmesan was cold. The plate was sitting waiting for the final entree to finish? Apple Tart dessert was ice cold from refrigerator. Generally apple tarts are warm/hot when served with ice cream? Salmon and seafood entrees were good. Wine by the glass was pricey at $13/glass for a Bay Area Chardonnay.
Magnificent food. We came in from a performance across the street. The restaurant got swamped with similar people. They handled it beautifully.
