Took family to this restaurant in the North End. Not on the well-traveled, more touristy Hanover St, but nice inside with a very gracious host/owner/chef, who inherited the business from his father.
There were 10 of us so we had a family table downstairs, which was set up for large groups (there was another boisterous grp downstairs as well of about 25 ppl). Everyone order something different, all dishes were quite good, some exceptionally good for price = good value. Decent wine list as well with reasonable pricing.
We had a very good time and will return in the future.
Great food and service.
After seeing this place had great reviews we decided to give it a try— biggest tourist trap. Service was OK but the food was actually awful and extremely overpriced. We should have known when even the bread was stale and the ‘olive oil’ was transparent..
Food was excellent. Service a bit slow but it was very busy. We had a very enjoyable meal.
Paulo is terrific and provided just the right amount of attention and conversation. The stuffed veal chop is enough to bring us back all by itself. And, a great wine selection offers a perfect pairing. Plus, the ambiance of the cellar and authentic Italian Ritrovo atmosphere is one of a kind. We shall return!
Absolutely loved this place! Great Italian food at a decent price. Alfredo was to die for!
My family LOVED this restaurant. We were in town from Houston and Seattle and were looking for dinner accommodations for 9 people. I spoke with a young man on the phone to make sure I could make a reservation and he was very friendly. When we arrived we were promptly seated in the downstairs area which was SUCH a nice relief from the heat! Our server, Dom, was very friendly and extremely welcoming to our over-the-top family. He also gave us some amazing recommendations from the menu. Speaking of the food- to die for. It was fresh, hot, and delicious, and every bite had my eyes rolling back into my head. If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine, look no further. I want to eat here every day for the rest of my life.
Had a great experience. Well recommended.
Unfortunately we had terrible service, so much so that tables around us even tried to help us out! We were so excited to try this place and it was a pretty big let down. The food was good, but not good enough to make up for the overall horrible treatment by the staff.
I have been coming here for more than 30 years. Every time I travel to Boston to see family, I make a point to visit.
Love the staff; owners and food. One of the best!
Hands down the best Italian in the Northeast! A must when in Boston..
I had chicken Marsala. Very good. My husband had gnocchi which he enjoyed very much. All our food was very good.
Our meal was very good with the exception of the bread which seemed stale. We usually enjoy bread in the North End so much that this was a disappointment. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars for food.
Difficult to find in with limited seating, make reservations.
There was a misunderstanding about outdoor seating and we had to wait 15 minutes for a table to clear. The waiter was very nice, but very disorganized and we waited quite a long time to get served. The waiter came back after he had taken our orders, and asked what we wanted. He had forgotten that he already had taken the information.
The food was OK but certainly not what I had remembered from being there many years ago.
Fun, spot with convenient parking nearby. Good food and a space that invites conversation above a whisper. Glad to see that it was crowded.
The food and appetizers were fantastic with good sized portions
Some of the worst food I’ve ever had. Burnt chicken piccata. No flavor calamari. The best part was the bread and oil.
Best Italian restaurant in the North end by far
Fantastic pre-game destination!!
Attending a Celtics game, Massamino’s is an excellent restaurant and so close to the TD Garden. The food is always amazing with daily specials
This restaurant was classic Italian. The pasta fagioli was amazing. Perfectly prepared. The veal was also terrific. My daughter had the lobster ravioli. That was the best and. Alone is worth the trip
Wonderful spot for a tasty dinner. Nicole, thank you for being so lovely!
We reserved a table outside and ended up having to have to sit inside, it was incredibly noisy to the point we had to yell to each other as well as very very cramped. The penny vodka did not have a lot of flavor, the sausage vinegar peppers and potatoes were good but only two sausages the veal Parm was excellent.
They accommodate a very large table and we added two extra people the food was delicious the service was perfect overall wonderful experience I highly recommend it
Terrible experience. We booked the wine cellar to celebrate my sons college graduation and when we showed up they told us it wasn’t available and put us at a table near the kitchen and bathroom. Absolutely horrible experience.
Pasta and sauces very good. The best chicken cacciatore I've ever eaten. Fun atmosphere, very Italian, nice staff.
Great food, great service, never disappointed. Always a pleasure.
Excellent food and service. Bone in sword fish was unique and excellent
Great meal and fantastic service. We've enjoyed this place for nearly 30 years. Massamino's never disappoints
Great restaurant!! The food and wine selections were fabulous and I enjoyed sitting outdoors.
Great food and great staff and ambiance - fun place to celebrate
Always amazing in every way!
Service was excellent. Food was good. Very loud so difficult to carry on a conversation.
It is a very small dining room. We could see right into the kitchen. I don’t mind this usually. But, oh boy... the kitchen was disgusting. Food all over the ground. Broken dishes on the floor. Too many people in a very small place. Never again. Especially with everything going on right now. It is a very average Italian meal.
Absolutely amazing food and service! Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent as always, highly recommended. I have eaten many times.
Food was good but service was not as I expected. Ordered apps, soups and entrees. Soup came out with the meal, not before as we wanted. One of the soups was incorrect, wrong soup and a cup and not a bowl. Waited long for the server to return only to tell us that the soup ordered had run out. Server did not bring one of the sides until we prompted him again,. Also he asked if we wanted grated cheese and then forgot to bring it. The only thing he was prompt with was the check.
