Stuffed Veal Chop
With asparagus in pink vodka cream sauce
Kinda gross, vibe was wierd feltnlike you were in an ally, had to send back several utensils for being dirty
Food was very salty. Different sizes of wine glasses for same price.
Excellent food in the North End of Boston! A worldwide food mecca. My family enjoyed everything about it. We had a table at the open window on a beautiful night. Our waiter gave us some value insight on the large menu. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Prices were a good value considering the quality and more than satisfying taste.
Street parking is the only issue that I see folks having but there are plenty of very close lots….
Outstanding food and service! A welcome surprise a bit off the main strip of restaurants. Will definitely return!
Overall we were HAPPY! There was a street fair going on when we arrived so we elected to eat inside. We were shown to a table on their lower level & had to wait until they found two chairs, but just a few minutes. Our waiter was very prompt & brought us bread & took our drink orders quickly. I ordered the Caprese Salad & it was DELICIOUS (I shared with my wife) For Dinner my wife ordered the Ravioli Marinara & she loved it & said the sauce (gravy) was AWESOME! I ordered the Zuppa di Pesce Napoletana, it too was DELICIOUS & I had to ask for more bread to soak up all the Sauce :-). All in all I was VERY PLEASED, the only drawback was it was a little noisy, but it sort of added to the atmosphere. So at least 4 STARS
Always the best.. We had the stuffed artichokes and the fried burrata and both were amazing..
Wow. Just wow. The food here is absolutely wonderful!
Our family made a reservation at 6:30 outside. We arrived a few minutes early and we were seated outside (tables are packed together). Right away we were given waters and bread by a member of the wait staff. We sat for another 14 minutes (I was timing it) without any acknowledgment, menus, etc. There was a table of 2 that got seated after us and were given menus and a wait staff member took their drink order so we get up and left since clearly they didn't care for our business. I should have listened to some of the reviews about slow service. I've never left a restaurant due to poor service - I'd never go back nor would recommend. Disappointed but ended up eating up the street at Tony and Elaine's and had a fantastic meal there instead.
Personally wasn't wowed by the food. The Veal Massimino was drowning in a sauce that was already splitting before it came to the table, therefore i received about 9 small pieces of veal with oil settling upon it. My partner was more or less confused by her Chicken Marsala as there appeared to be chunks of ham on it. Our hopes were that this would at least be prosciutto, but from taste and intuition you could tell that it was pieces of deli ham. Also the marsala sauce was overly sweet and there was no real wine flavor. Overall while the restaurant was quaint, I don't believe it lived up to its hype and overall we won't be returning.
The food was amazing but even with a reservation we had to wait 45 minutes for a table.
Some of the best food in the North End.
My boyfriend and I love this place! Every time we are in the area we go! Great food and service.
My family enjoyed the food, service and ambiance!! Great value!
We had a lovely evening and the food was delicious. The fried artichokes and gnocchi al forno were fabulous. Look forward to next special occasion.
We were able to get a table of 9 seated which is no easy feat in the north end. While the seating was crowded we were comfortable and felt well accommodated. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. We've been before and we will be back!
I love this restaurant so much I don’t usually go anywhere else when I am in Boston and anywhere near the North end. The carbonara is amazing. The Nonna meatball appetizer melts in your mouth and the ricotta it is served with is heaven on a plate. Pork chop with vinegar peppers, chicken piccata and gnocchi al forno got rave reviews as well by my dinner companions. It was a beautiful night and we sat outside but they have it decorated so cute that even the noise of Boston traffic didn’t detract from the ambiance. Can’t recommend it enough.
Great as usual
We wanted to sit outside. The outdoor space is limited, tables small & very close together. The shrimp cocktail was ok, not jumbo shrimp and tasted waterlogged. I had a special pasta limoncello pappardelle which was fabulous, so flavorful. My fiancé had chicken saltimbocca, which was also delicious! It was a nice night and we did appreciate being able to sit outside!
Great service and great food!
Food was excellent!!
Absolutely everything you would want in a Boston North End experience! And the food was excellent!
Everything you think the North End is and more.
Small family restaurant with amazing food and friendly service. I wanted everything on the menu.
Took family to this restaurant in the North End. Not on the well-traveled, more touristy Hanover St, but nice inside with a very gracious host/owner/chef, who inherited the business from his father.
There were 10 of us so we had a family table downstairs, which was set up for large groups (there was another boisterous grp downstairs as well of about 25 ppl). Everyone order something different, all dishes were quite good, some exceptionally good for price = good value. Decent wine list as well with reasonable pricing.
We had a very good time and will return in the future.
Great food and service.
After seeing this place had great reviews we decided to give it a try— biggest tourist trap. Service was OK but the food was actually awful and extremely overpriced. We should have known when even the bread was stale and the ‘olive oil’ was transparent..
Food was excellent. Service a bit slow but it was very busy. We had a very enjoyable meal.
Paulo is terrific and provided just the right amount of attention and conversation. The stuffed veal chop is enough to bring us back all by itself. And, a great wine selection offers a perfect pairing. Plus, the ambiance of the cellar and authentic Italian Ritrovo atmosphere is one of a kind. We shall return!
Absolutely loved this place! Great Italian food at a decent price. Alfredo was to die for!
My family LOVED this restaurant. We were in town from Houston and Seattle and were looking for dinner accommodations for 9 people. I spoke with a young man on the phone to make sure I could make a reservation and he was very friendly. When we arrived we were promptly seated in the downstairs area which was SUCH a nice relief from the heat! Our server, Dom, was very friendly and extremely welcoming to our over-the-top family. He also gave us some amazing recommendations from the menu. Speaking of the food- to die for. It was fresh, hot, and delicious, and every bite had my eyes rolling back into my head. If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine, look no further. I want to eat here every day for the rest of my life.
Had a great experience. Well recommended.
Unfortunately we had terrible service, so much so that tables around us even tried to help us out! We were so excited to try this place and it was a pretty big let down. The food was good, but not good enough to make up for the overall horrible treatment by the staff.
I have been coming here for more than 30 years. Every time I travel to Boston to see family, I make a point to visit.
Love the staff; owners and food. One of the best!
Hands down the best Italian in the Northeast! A must when in Boston..
I had chicken Marsala. Very good. My husband had gnocchi which he enjoyed very much. All our food was very good.
Our meal was very good with the exception of the bread which seemed stale. We usually enjoy bread in the North End so much that this was a disappointment. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars for food.
Difficult to find in with limited seating, make reservations.
There was a misunderstanding about outdoor seating and we had to wait 15 minutes for a table to clear. The waiter was very nice, but very disorganized and we waited quite a long time to get served. The waiter came back after he had taken our orders, and asked what we wanted. He had forgotten that he already had taken the information.
The food was OK but certainly not what I had remembered from being there many years ago.
Fun, spot with convenient parking nearby. Good food and a space that invites conversation above a whisper. Glad to see that it was crowded.
The food and appetizers were fantastic with good sized portions
