Joyce Farms sirloin* with red miso, shallots, capers, pickled fresno, pickled mustard seeds and topped with a quail's egg yolk. Served with house chips
My favorite restaurant in Newtown, hands down. The food is always fresh, inventive, and delicious. The staff are warm and super duper accommodating. The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming – a cross between fine dining and a dinner party. And as a vegetarian, there are always plenty of dishes for me here.
Seated in a somewhat noisy back room. The food was delayed and hot dish was served cold. They did offer a complimentary desert however we declined as we were now time constrained because of the delay.
This was my second experience- the first time was very good (with the same server) and worth the somewhat higher price. The second was far below out expectations. The food is excellent but you can’t charge those prices with inconsistent service. Hopefully this was an anomaly. Ill give them one more try.
Absolutely delicious food and excellent service right on Newtown’s beautiful Main Street.
Lovely restaurant. Appetizers were tasty but on the small side. Entrees were good.
Beignets were a miss. Overall a solid restaurant w nice ambiance.
Everything was excellent, starting from the house special drinks, the Caesar salad, entrees and dessert. Our waitress Mary was personable, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. Marygold's is going into our rotation of regular restaurants. Can't wait to go again!
All of our food was delicious and Mary was wonderful. We'll definitely be back!
Baked clam app is really good
Fish tacos are loaded with fish
Will most certainly go back and try dinner, lunch was good but menu and portions a bit small for price.
Mushroom bruschetta was phenomenal
Always a pleasure, especially for Sunday brunch
Great service and food. Never disappoints!
All the servers were exceptionally good and very accommodating. Food and ambiance were great as well and will definitely return!
We ended up not eating at Mary Golds. We thought our reservation
was for the back dining room, but they seated us in the front room
(with a bar) and it was so loud that we left.
Amazing food and incredible service!
Excellent food and cocktails. The food has only gotten better since we first started going. Also a great event space
Great location. ambiance, and food. Our waitress was especially helpful in recommending selections as I had diet restrictions.
Best experience! Wonderful food, wonderful service! The fire was warm and the music was great!
We had dinner here a few months ago and it was great. I know having a retail establishment so I understand that restaurants are suffering getting adequate staffing. Our waitress was attentive and very sweet. The food itself was good. My husband just ordered a BLT and loved it with a salad. We were having a light dinner. I order the hummus and crudette and was really disappointed with the presentation and the amount of crudette on the plater. It was very poorly plated (like really poorly presented - the hummus looked like a blob and someone just threw the veggies on top). There weren't many veggies either. Disappointing for the cost. Then I had a Caeser Salad with Chicken. Such a small portion of salad for what should have been at least a dinner size salad. Again a little more substantial plating guys - other restaurants in town do a better Caesar and bigger Caesar (the chicken on top was cooked nicely). I am a daughter of a French Culinary professor who taught at the CIA - so I am very picky about my food. I'm disappointed - the food and the presentation was better the first time we were here. I would recommend them if they got their game up. Otherwise there are good places in town where the food is very good and the sizing appropriate.
Asked for burger cooked medium . It was cooked rare! Drinks were ridiculously expensive. The poutine was good.
We had a great Anniversary brunch. The service was Great and we had the opportunity to eat outside on their deck. It was beautiful! Food and drinks were delicious and the coffee was also wonderful !!
Waitress Giulia was excellent.
My only complaint was the noise. We were seated near the doorway to the entry lounge where a duo was playing. The manager told me acoustic treatments will be installed in the main dining room in November. We'll definitely go back, it's really nice and the food and service are quite good.
We loved our visit to Marygolds, service and food was excellent. The inside of restaurant was so warm wonderful renervasizons couldn’t believe it was the old Newtown Inn. We would definitely go back for dinner,
We would highly recommend Marygold's on Main to anyone looking for a delicious, elegant dinner. The ambiance was great; our server was awesome; and the food excellent. I would suggest the seared venison medallions and the halibut, but everything looked delicious. We can't wait to return to try other items on their menu!
Food and ambience were good. Halibut could have used more flavor but it was good. Salmon was delicious! Noise level was too loud! Waitress was nice but could have been better trained. Mule cocktail was not good. - would be nice to have better cocktails.
our first time there since Old Newtown Inn. renovation very nice, wait staff and hostesses friendly and professional.
we all were happy with our menus choices which were Wagu steak and Braised shortribs.
we will be back soon.
Other than the hostess that gave me problems for bringing pizza for my special needs child, the experience was great. The kids menu is bland and he only will eat pizza or chicken fingers. They have neither. I called ahead and they said no problem but hostess made a scene about it in front of other patrons. If the ritz in Paris didn’t care I don’t know why a small place in new town should! Waitress was AMAZING tho and food delish. If you have kids with special needs hide your food from the hostess!
For the price, I would not recommend Marigold’s. Food was on the bland side. Cocktails were not exciting either. Also, do not get the seared scallops. This dish is not named properly. It’s a bowl of scallops and potatoes in a brown gravy, so more of a stew really.
Ambience just right
Best restaurant we’ve found in a long, long time
A little expensive. But what isn’t these days Otherwise. Very nice
Really one of our favorite local restaurants. Food is excellent, and friendly caring service, in a nice setting.
Beautiful deck dining for brunch. Amazing food! Very helpful staff.
Food and service were really good. However it’s tough to hear the person across from you because it’s VERY loud. Despite that, I’ll go back.
Loved everything about this restaurant except the noise level. Easily the noisiest restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. Excruciatingly loud. Had to shout to communicate with table mates. Waiter had to crouch next to us to hear and be heard. Needs some fabric on windows and elsewhere to absorb some of the sound. Maybe acoustic ceiling panels? To top it all off they had a band with electric guitar playing in bar area adding to the general noise of dining room. I would only recommend this place to a friend with the caveat that thy should not expect a relaxed dinner or an intimate conversation .
Fun atmosphere with well-spaced tables. Service friendly and professional. Food was very good and the menu has good choices with interesting specials. Quality of food was excellent and the portions were generous but not overwhelming.
Second visit to Marygold's since its opening. Food was interesting and well-prepared, selection of wines by-the-glass and boutique cocktails was quite intriguing, server "Mary" was alone worth the trip--kept us informed and entertained.
First time there - have eaten at their sister restaurant though ! Wonderful “ summer “ night in October to be outside . Great staff & waiter named John - amazing calamari appetizer and our main entrees were terrific too . Topped it off w beignets that were scrumptious ! It was a perfect dinner All around ! Can’t wait to have my daughter’s bridal shower there .
The duck dish is amazing.....paired with the cabbage & sweet potato puree......yum! The drinks we ordered were a little on the sweet side, so looking forward to trying others when we are there next time. Super pleasant staff, lovely atmosphere.
We had brunch at Marigolds Sunday and the food was delicious, the service was great and the new decor is beautiful.
We were very disappointed in the food an atmosphere. Being part of an Inn you would think it would be more cozy and the food would be better. The bread was nice an doughy but cold which ruined the beginning of our experience. The calamari was over cooked. It came out so quick that you know if was precooked and thrown into the fryer again. My husband's Wagyu stead had no flavor. I had the cod with lobster sauce. A portion of it was cold and the cod had no flavor. The flavor came from the lobster sauce drenched all over it. The manager very quickly thanked us for coming. He spoke so fast I didn't hear much of what he said, however he never asked how our meal was. For appearance purposes, white table cloths would have been nice and would have dressed the place up. It reminded me of a cafeteria. The best part was the waitress. She was very sweet and attentive.
The acoustics in the bar area leave much to be desired. The service and food were good, nothing exceptional. Fish was slightly dry for two diners.
