Marvee's Food Shop is a playful, soulful nod to the classic Caribbean takeaway.

Named after his mother, Marveline (affectionately known as Marvee), Chef Dom Taylor (Winner of Five Star Kitchen and owner of sold-out fine dining pop-up The Good Front Room at the Langham Hotel) has developed this concept to draw on the sounds, smells and stories of his childhood and heritage, offering comforting recipes cooked by Taylor's family, or remembered from childhood trips to Jamaica.

Located in the heart of Notting Hill, just off world-famous Portobello Road & Market, a stone's throw from Ladbroke Grove station. Our beautiful balcony overlooks the palm tree filled Portobello Green, giving Caribbean vibes throughout your dining experience. Indoors, it's softer, low level lighting, with soulful music.

Signature dishes include dark rum + raisin glazed pork belly, boneless curry goat, corned beef patties & oxtail gravy, and old school cake & custard or roasted plantain + molasses soft serve!

Marvee's has teamed up with UNDR, DPJ and Moetry for an evening of spoken word, live music and food. Marvee’s Food Shop offers a soulful twist on classic Caribbean cuisine, with a £20 set meal available in 1-hour slots at 17:00, 18:00, or 19:00 (before the event begins at 20:00). Menu includes a choice of: Jerk chicken with jerk sauce & plantain jam Escovitch fish with sweet sauce Crispy spiced banana blossom with gungo pea daal (Vegan) All meals come with spicy pumpkin rice and chunky slaw. Drinks and soft serve will be available at the bar (not included in the meal price).

Best jerk chicken I’ve ever had! Great location overlooking Portobello Green and great to get a table on the balcony when the weather’s warm. A hidden gem.

Wonderful welcome by the team, service is good. Food is tasty, took my bestie and had an enjoyable evening, had a table on the balcony which was lovely, the vibe on the inside of the restaurant was like “being at home”, Caribbean home, if you know, you know!

I travelled from the other side of London to eat at Marvee's Food Shop, the food, cocktails, vibe and service did not disappoint! We ordered the Corned Beef Pattie- That Dark Rum and Raisin Glaze, superb!!!!! Cornmeal Waffles with Escovitch Fish, Cornmeal Waffles with the Pork Belly, Mac & Cheese and the Plantain (nice and ripe!!!) I booked a table on a Sunday, and I enjoyed the rest of the afternoon at portobello road market! Great experience, I will be returning!

My God. Where do I start? I saw Chef Dom on Netflix's "Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef" and wanted to taste his food watching the program! I was so happy when he won but could never afford to eat at the Langham where he had a 6 month residency. When I heard he had opened up Marvee's I booked straight away. We went earlier than our 5pm booking to make the most of happy hour and loved our daiquiris on the terrace on a blazing hot Saturday on the balcony under the flyover with the sounds and sights of the offshoots of Portobello Road Market below, and the beautiful gardens directly opposite. Michel our initial waiter was such a sweetie pie, so likeable, and made sure the drinks kept flowing despite them 'closing' between 4 and 5. We were then looked after by an absolute Queen (I didn’t get her name) during their down time and our actual meal. My friend and I had forensically analysed the menu before we got there and knew exactly what we were going to order days in advance. The restaurant area was empty when we entered and I couldn’t help but fan girl when I saw Chef Dom through the open hatch to the kitchen (always a good sign) so I asked him for some recommendations. He came out and recommended the rum and raisin glazed pork belly so we added it to the jerk chicken, escovitch fish (half portion), roast pineapple and heritage tomato chow, mac and 3 cheese, and lime, chilli and maple plantain that we had on our list. The pork belly was the star of the show, we can’t believe it wasn’t on our list! We tried our best but couldn’t eat it all and I actually asked for a doggy bag (haven’t done that for 20 years). We topped our cocktails off with a bottle of Prosecco and all in the bill was incredible value considering the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and incredible service. We even met Marvee! It was such a special experience. We will definitely be back & hope we are remembered / can get a table again when it becomes THE go to restaurant in London.

Great food - punchy flavours and good variation in the offerings. Staff were very friendly, service was slightly slow at times but given they have only recently opened I’m sure these were likely teething issues. Would definitely go back.

I would not recommend. The food was extremely unlike anything that could pass as good Jamaican food. You're better off going to Nandos, sadly.

A great experience, seated on the balcony, a Sunday afternoon of sunshine, amazing food, perfect cocktails and overlooking the vibes of the portobello market. Carribean food is always a topic of debate due to most dishes being connected to a family members recipe but Marvee’s not only connects with the flavours but also the presentation, no debate here, they get it. The Curry Goat coupled with the cassava waffle and the best plantain I’ve tasted. Also the Escovitch fish with Cassava chips and scotch bonnet mayo and slaw was perfect. All complemented with a tropical cocktail called ‘The Market’… A top tier meal in the heart of West London, perfect settings, I’ll be back soon.

Went with a friend on Father’s Day so although it was starting to get busy we didn’t feel rushed and both enjoyed our experience. The food was very tasty and the portion sizes were just right. Loved the waffles with the protein options. The cocktails were perfect too. Thank you very much. I’ve told several friends that it’s worth the trip from south London!
