Everything was outstanding from the minute we sat down until the time we left. It was our first time dining here. It was very expensive but the perfect place for a special occasion.

My husband and i took my daughter to lunch after her graduation. The food was exceptional especially the mushroom risotto The ambiance made the special occasion extra special. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and quick. Gave phenomenal service. Would definitely return.
Service was a little slow at first. We were at the table for about 15 minutes before anyone came to welcome us and offer to take a drink order.
Food was good although all of us in the party agreed that the cheese on the lobster escargot and the regular escargot appetizers were too overpowering for such a simple dish. Steaks were cooked to the right temperature and the sides we chose were excellent. We chose a sampler dessert to share where the cheesecake and chocolate cake were very good, but the banana bread pudding was a little too dense and we needed a knife to cut it.
Now comes the question of price. If Mark's Prime was in a major metropolitan area then the price may be appropriate although the shortcomings identified would most likely keep me from returning if I had other options. For Gainesville, Fl I think it is a bit overpriced based on the quality of the menu, ambience, and service. Unfortunately, there are little other options in the area other then Shula’s.
Although I would recommend Mark's as a place to go once I would preface it with the caveats noted above.

We were there to celebrate a Florida graduation. Our waiter was one of the best waiters I have ever had, she was wonderful it is explanations and made us feel very special. The wine was great the food was surprisingly disappointing as we just expected a better level of steakhouse food. With that being said it was still an enjoyable evening

We were fortunate enough to make a dinner reservation for our son’s UF graduation. Once again, everything was outstanding! Best way to celebrate a special occasion with great food and amazing service. We are excited that our youngest has graduated, but we are sad to say good-bye to Mark’s Prime!
Mark's Prime is an old-school steak house. The food and service were very good, especially the escargot. The menu wasn't overly creative and could use a little more imaginative items to go along with the steak house standards to make it a more contemporary dining experience, (think fresh/farm to table/something lighter.) The host was a bit stiff and unfriendly and the atmosphere was pretty loud and bright not very intimate, but hey it was graduation and Covid protocols were in place, so overall it was a nice dining experience for the time we're living in. With its brick walls and moody colors it could a more interesting dining experience if the menu was tweaked to add food for lighter diners and if the atmosphere was freshened up and a little more intimate.

It’s one of my favorite place to celebrate special occasions. I always order the filet and it’s cooked perfectly delicious every time. I even got a wonderful free dessert since it was my birthday:)
I called the night before to inquire on the bourbon list and the host told me the manager had to answer my question and that he left early (Friday night). I asked him if he could ask the bar tender and he told me no and that he was busy. Should have trusted my gut after this treatment. I came in the next night with a friend for our reservation to have dinner and we sat for 35 minutes while every table was greeted and served. We spoke to the hostess who rushed over our server who didn’t apologize but blamed the front of house for not letting him know he had a table. His attitude was terrible and he had no idea what drinks were available and thumbed through his receipt book as if it were his menu. After brushing us off for the second time we informed him we would take the check for what we ordered so far, escargot and top shelf bourbon, and take our business elsewhere. The manager came over after 45 minutes to apologize and was very nice. He comped our appetizer, offered us gift cards to come back and give them a second chance, but at that point we had made reservations at another downtown eatery and moved on. It was the most uncomfortable I have ever been in a restaurant and while I give the management top marks for trying to fix the issues we had there is clearly something wrong with the culture. I don’t know if we will ever go back.

Spectacular meal. Cooked to perfect. Lamb chops were delightful as well as the filet. We started with the smoked salmon Tartar. (Pictured)Amazing flavors. Dessert was S'Mores cheesecake which was perfect. We love Mark's.

Great time out in Gainesville. The ambience is warm and cozy within the unexpectedly lively downtown are of Gainesville (away from campus). Service was friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent. On par with a top big-city steak house at a lower cost point. We'll definitely be back.
A true classic steakhouse experience in every respect. Definitely THE place to go in Gainesville for that.
Excellent service, place, atmosphere, wine and food.
The lobster bites were out of this world!!! My sea bass was also out of this world, however my husband's steak was perfectly pink but on the dry side, don't understand how the two can go together???? Our server was top notch, constantly checking on us. As we were leaving we did let him know about the steak so he could pass the information on to the kitchen.
It was my fathers birthday, food was good. I got the Delmonico steak, medium rare. I had reminded the server and host when I called that it was a birthday celebration but we didn’t receive a complimentary birthday dessert.
When I spoke to the manager and addressed this, he gave me a gift card for $10. Course I’d rather it was done earlier but oh well.
We enjoyed the dinning experience. It wasn't as interment as we would have liked, a little to noisy. Service was good. The food was overall very good. The Lamb was outstanding the steaks where great. My sons steak was ordered medium rear it was past medium. My wife's and daughter in-law steaks where reversed My wife ordered medium rare my daughter in-law ordered medium+. They couldn't swap the steaks because my wife's was Oscar style. The Lobster mac and cheese was out of this world good, the creamed spinach as well. The calamari and bacon wrapped scallops where a big hit.

It was a very good experience and wonderful service. The food was good but a little over priced in my opinion. But the 207 price tag for two will only make us come back for a special occasion.
We were in town from Ohio and looked for a steakhouse. We found Mark’s Prime Seafood & Steak in Gainesville since we were there for another event. We made reservations for a Friday night at 5:30. It is close to the campus and has a parking garage across the street. The server was very attentive. The food was excellent. The steaks had a great taste, seasoned perfect and so tender you could cut with a butter knife. Definitely highly recommend.
This time we had dinner at the bar and got great service and conversation from Sion our server. Excellent food and a fun evening out!
My husband and I were both excited to come here for our 8th wedding anniversary, but ultimately left disappointed. We are generally not ones to complain about our food, but the quality of the food was not what we expected at all. We both ordered the filet mignon and were disappointed when it was actually slightly chewy. For the amount of money we spent on the steak, it should have been tender like butter. The flavor was good, but the quality of meat did not live up to the name of a restaurant that calls itself a steakhouse. The sides (twice baked potato and bacon Brussel sprouts) were good, but nothing extraordinary. The desserts (chocolate cheesecake and the chocolate paradise) were okay.
Our service, on the other hand, though, was excellent. There was a slight hiccup with my steak. I ordered the blue cheese crumbles on top but did not receive them, so our waiter immediately brought it out to me and did not charge me for the added item.
One other thing I would like to mention. When I made our reservations, I made a point of saying it was our wedding anniversary. The hostess acknowledged it, but our waiter did not, though I imagine it was because he was not told. In our past experiences at other upscale restaurants, we received our dessert plates with "Happy Anniversary" written in syrup. I guess I would have liked some similar treatment.
Delicious! Bread, appetizers, main course and wine were all fantastic. Staff was friendly, helpful, and professional.
