Beginning in early December 2023, we will undergo an enhancement project that will showcase a brighter and more residential design, and include striking gathering spaces, a new restaurant by acclaimed Chef Kwame Onwuachi, an expanded two-story spa and modernly refreshed guest suites.

While this work takes place, we are committed to providing our guests with an exemplary level of service and a highly convenient base from which to explore and enjoy Washington, D.C. Our enhancement work is scheduled to conclude in Spring 2024 and will be undertaken in a way to minimize impact to the guest experience.

We went to Salamander DC for the Holiday Kids Tea in December 2023. It was a great experience with so many cool things to keep kids engaged. There was a cookie decorating station, ice cream station, cotton candy and Hot Cocoa. There were pictures with Santa and the Grinch. Even the tea treats were kid friendly. It was a great event and I would attend again!

My mother and I brought my opinionated, ornery two-year old to the Breakfast with Santa experience after failing to get a reservation for holiday tea anywhere…and stumbled upon a new tradition we definitely intend to repeat next year! Everyone we encountered from the moment we walked in was so lovely and made a fuss over my grumpy toddler (who recently became a big sis, so we wanted to really make a fuss over her this day). Staff offered to take pictures of us in front of the gorgeous Christmas decorations left and right and we had some coffee in the lobby while we waited for the breakfast room to open. Once it was ready, we were ushered through a wonderfully decorated hallway to get our picture with Santa (who was LOVELY) and then to our table. Pro tip: get up and get there for the 9am seating because it was not even full and I imagine the later seatings are! The Grinch and a performing elf were wandering around the dining room throughout and were lovely at not pushing my suddenly shy, grumpy toddler too much but also helping us get some cute photos and have fun. The breakfast buffet was INCREDIBLE—a raw bar?! Braised short ribs?! And a hot chocolate station with intricately decorated cookies that was a kid’s dream! Overall, I was SO impressed and pleased and already looking forward to bringing my kiddo next year when she is a bit older and can perhaps get into more (and not clam up/be quite as ornery as she was lol). Will DEF come again!

The vibe, staff, service, ambience were wonderful. The food was lacking, you can get better steaks at Texas road house and equivocal pasta at Olive Garden. It wasn’t horrible but it isn’t worth the price. The raw bar was phenomenal though. Again, it’s an awesome place but lacks in value overall.

The food at the Salamander Grille is very good. I tried both the sea bass and the lamb, delicious. The service was good, I got the feeling that our server was still learning, he was trying very hard. I will try them again.

The food, wine and service were excellent. We did have to wait a while for our food even though they were not very busy.

We liked everything about the Salamander Grille. The atmosphere was very nice, all of our food choices (tuna appetizer, raviolio, small filet and grilled asparagus were delicious, and our server, Amir, was excellent and made us feel welcome.
