We made reservations in September for a Nov 2 dinner. In October, the restaurant closed but we were not notified. In fact, on Nov 1, I received an e-mail from OpenTable asking me to confirm the reservation. Very disappointing that there wasn't better communication.

Great place in walking distrance from the Del Coronado Hotel. They have nice indoor or outdoor seating. The bar area is also great place to eat or hang out. They have TVs situated in ways that you see wherever you sit in the bar which is a major plus. Ordered pasta dish gluten free. It was very average. The shrimp cocktail was delicious with a chipotle horseradish sauce. The salads are great and healthy options. Loved the heirloom tomato salad. You can probably find something for everyone in your party here. Took almost an hour to get our food but it was worth the wait.

Should have had pasta. Ordered expensive filet and scallops. Really weird sauces and sides ruined otherwise just OK steak and seafood. Way overpriced for what was served.

The prosciutto-wrapped dates were wonderful. The pasta was made in-house and was perfect. Our server, Kris, was outstanding. Will be back!

Everything was delicious, service was great, and the happy hour menu is a STEAL — you can assemble a great and satisfying group meal just from that. The rigatoni and the smoked Negroni are also musts.

I went on a date with my husband. We expected the food to be awesome. It’s in a great neighborhood, nice restaurant but the food was average. We ordered oysters, seafood platter and pasta. The best thing were the Baja oysters that were a dollar each.

Oysters on the half shell were tasty. Homemade pasta was excellent. Service was good but we did have to pour our wine and water most of the time. Very close to the Hotel Del and beach.

We love the bar, happy hour menu, and the great love music! We took our family who had just arrived in the area and they loved it. They went back the next night!

An excellent dinner with first-class service from Kris, our server.
We sat on a nice little outdoor deck and enjoyed a terrific appetizer of grilled artichokes with some blistered peppers together with some tasty focaccia.
As an entree, my wife enjoyed the corn ravioli. Our server indicated that it is the chef’s creation and he or she should be very proud, as it is remarkably delicious! I ordered the grilled Snake River Farm’s pork chop in an agrodolce with little onions and more blistered peppers. It was, without question, one of the best pork chops I’ve ever eaten.
My wife and I live in Houston which, while it doesn’t have the beauty of Coronado, is a “foodie town” with more than its share of outstanding restaurants. Thus, please take my word for it that you’ll enjoy your experience at Maretalia.

The food was good but some of the flavors didn't totally work. I had the rigatoni with pork ragu which was very rich tasting. We shared the artichoke which had Chipotle peppers and we're artichoke hearts. My husband had the Cesar salad which had bread crumbs instead of croutons like a typical Cesar. This made it seem like you were eating sand. Instead of romaine lettuce they used Kale. It was not a great salad. Our server was very attentive and friendly.

We came her last year for our yearly visit to Coronado and were amazed how delicious everything was so a return visit was in order. I don’t know if the menu has changed dramatically or not but we weren’t quite as blown away this time. We started with the roasted cauliflower which was fabulous and I don’t even like cauliflower. The spaghetti and meatballs were a mix, the pasta and sauce so tasty but the meatballs kind of meh. Another dish was super spicy and didn’t mention spiciness in the description. Our server Dallas took great care of us, was friendly and helpful and accommodating. Also Lauren was phenomenal. She had to reschedule our reservation due to a private event being booked and was not only darling but totally professional and charming. Based upon these things I believe we will be back next year.

We had gone through happy hour a few months back & were semi impressed. But this time dinner was great! Mostly in part because Dana our waitress listen when I told her about our experience. Not only did she bring me a complimentary appetizer, she was above and beyond in all areas of service.
I ordered halibut with cherry tomatoes , which I cannot eat. So they were happy to exchange it for other vegetable which were amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice quality experience. They’re Ambience relaxing and beautiful. If possible, I would request Dana as your server.
The chicken & fish were great 👍
I’m glad they are there. I can’t wait to go back!

Pros:
-Our waitress was great!
-Host and staff were accommodating when we arrived and had moved our party to another area and table because we had 2 extra persons added last minute to our party.
-Staff was great and brought out our birthday guests dessert with candles.
-Beautiful interior
-Great food

Cons:
For wheelchair accessible, there's a down ramp on the side of another restaurant/bar below the Maretalia, there you'll find the elevator that takes you up to the back entrance to the restaurant. Host will not know that your party is there unless you walk towards the front of the restaurant.
-Music was blasting from the speakers.
-No non-alcoholic wine.
-Cold Air blowing out the air vents is okay but not when you have elders with you.
- We waited a bit until we mentioned if only we had chips or bread to snack on and then we were offered the bread and dip.
-One of our guests had ordered the lobster tray and mentioned the dipping sauce tasted like ketchup, the waiter or gentleman who works behind the bar walked by our table and we asked for fresh cracked black pepper told her that no, it was cocktail sauce, she said is there another type of sauce for dipping and he shook his head, no. and walked away.

Great service by Dallas...and good flexibility by the kitchen, meeting our desire for a full meal at lunch, which was perfectly cooked halibut, with a stuffed tomato, and fries. The lobster, avocado, peach, tarragon salad was beautiful, fresh and delicious. Could have used more lobster though.

We drank a 2014 Montalcino red, excellent.

Gorgeous view out our window of the sea, on a perfect August day.

We will return.

My family and I, including our two small children had several off their smaller dishes. They were excellent. We sat outside and it was very nice. The staff did an excellent job. We definitely plan on returning when we visit next time.

Food was very good. Server was friendly and helpful; however, read on.
We were offered still or sparkling water, but opted initially for tap water -- that was a mistake, as it had the aroma of an aquarium, so we got still.
Focaccia and flatbread and an olive oil plate with garlic and butter were served -- delicious. We had drinks and appetizers -- we avoided the entrees as they were pricey. The small plates all came in three servings which was annoying for a table of four. A fourth piece was available but also boosted the price by 25%, of course. My cocktail came in a cracked glass, which was replaced when I pointed it out to our server -- but both he and the bartender should have noticed before delivering. We had to ask for salt and pepper, and the pepper shaker showed up empty -- no stopper in the bottom. There was no offer of fresh ground pepper. But fresh grated parmesan was offered. Overall, needs some attention to detail to improve the dining experience and earn the prices.

We had an exceptionally enjoyable dinner at Maretalia. Our waitress was so sweet, knowledgeable of the menu and food preparation, and wonderfully attentive; you know the kind who’s there when you want or need them and then they disappear. We had the tasty lobster stuffed squash blossoms; they were delicate and excellent. Followed by salads and their made in house pasta. Oh so good!! Our plates were clean and our wine glasses empty! Maretalia is busy - yet is able to give you a very private personal dining experience. A wonderful evening.

The food, drinks and service was great! Very friendly staff. My only complaint is when the managers family members came in. They were EXTREMELY loud and inconsiderate of the other patrons that were in the restaurant trying to enjoy their meals. A couple sat down next to us but left shortly after due to the noise, my boyfriend and I left as well..we would’ve stayed longer but the noise was unbearable.

Great ambiance and layout. Food was wonderful. Server Miles was good however his performance was challenged by the extremely slow service. From the bar to the kitchen it was very very slow. . He even brought us another appetizer as dinner was taking so long and gave us a dessert. For three of us it took two hours for dinner. Loved everything but not sure we always have that long to invest.

Also not a good place for young kids.

The Bread was stale - ugh. The Oysters were perhaps the most tasteless I have ever eaten. Is there a CA law that requires Oysters served in this State to be washed in tap water I wonder? Avoid them, at all costs....a complete waste of $37.

The Cheese and Charcuterie plate on the other hand was quite delightful. A variety of meats and cheeses, served alongside honey, pickles, jams and toasted bread - highly recommended.

Cocktails and Wine were great. Atmosphere was overall very good. And the upstairs/ outside location is wonderful.

The service however is quite awful. And for that reason alone, we will not return anytime soon. Nor will we recommend to friends and family. We are not alone in this regard. The table next to us had the General manager apologizing for the poor service.....
