MARCUS DC, by celebrated chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson, blends modern American cooking with Black culinary traditions from D.C. to Ethiopia, and beyond. Inspired by heritage, the seasons and a sense of place, the menu features mambo-sauced roast chicken, grilled whole bass and dry-aged tomahawk steak. Swediopian, a dish of cured salmon, goldenberry broth, fennel and a teff crisp, mirrors Saumelsson's birthplace and the land where he was raised. Executive chef Anthony Jones, a true Marlyander, brings his own story with dishes like Mel's Crab Rice with early summer mushroom, hot sauce pickled okra, and uni béarnaise, an ode to his favorite crab shack in Calvert County.
Located steps from the NoMA metro, Marcus DC is both a neighborhood gathering place and destination restaurant in the greater Union Market neighborhood. We look forward to seeing you soon.

    Fantastic experience from start to finish. As we checked in Chef Marcus introduced himself and welcomed us to his restaurant. Our server was engaging and personable from explaining the menu and dishes as they arrived to our table.

    Service was good. Flavors were good, however most of items were too salty. Favorite item was the blue corn bread and Swediopian.

    Amazing experience. Our server Gi was well informed and provided stories for various dishes. Even got to meet Chef Marcus!

    I know some folks have a stigma about Hotel restaurants. I don't. When I knew Marcus Samuelsson was opening a restaurant here, I didn't care where it's at, I am there. Marcus DC is located at the very chic Morrow Hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hostess who was very welcoming. I dined on a Tuesday at 8pm. It wasn't packed but it wasn't empty. Brenden, our server, 5 stars. Very personable and down to earth. He was able to answer all my questions about the selections to ensure I chose what I wanted. We ordered the Blue cornbread and the Black Sea Bass. The Yassa butter was the star for me. Delicious. The Black Sea Bass- the swiss shard, mint, crab curry, lime, fresh garlic= party in your mouth. The fish was just a touch salty for me, however paired with all the other ingredients I was able to balance the saltiness out. The sweet potatoes were out of this world. I had some leftover Yassa butter that I put on the perfectly crispy yet soft sweet potatoes. It was so good. All those flavors together. I was dancing in my seat. I am super excited about the rooftop bar and the speakeasy coming. You can start and end your day at Morrow hotel thanks to Chef Rachel, Chef Rachel, and the team.

    Outstanding meal of really inventive and delicious dishes. A bit on the salty side, could dial that back and achieve perfection. As it was, a truly memorable meal. Thank you!

    Managers, Executive Chef were super attentive to us. Our waiter was knowledgeable and super friendly. We stopped in DC on our way back from the Kendrick Lamar concert and wanted to eat somewhere new and special. Food was impeccable and thought provoking me. Delicious.

    Interesting food in a cool setting. Still a little green on the service as they have only been open a few weeks. Should be a good place as they figure it out. Not strong on wine with as very light list and some miscues on service. Stronger on their cocktails. Definitely check out the rooftop Sly bar.

    We visited Marcus DC a week after opening. It located in the Morrow hotel. The decor was fantastic. We had excellent service. Drinks were great. We had the steak tartar one of the best I have had and the fantastic Blue cornbread. We opted for the Black Bass for two which was amazing. WE had sorbet and the cake presentation. The cake was excellent but I sorbet with vinegar could be left off. All in all a great dining experience.
