MARCUS DC, by celebrated chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson, blends modern American cooking with Black culinary traditions from D.C. to Ethiopia, and beyond. Inspired by heritage, the seasons and a sense of place, the menu features mambo-sauced roast chicken, grilled whole bass and dry-aged tomahawk steak. Swediopian, a dish of cured salmon, goldenberry broth, fennel and a teff crisp, mirrors Saumelsson's birthplace and the land where he was raised. Executive chef Anthony Jones, a true Marlyander, brings his own story with dishes like Mel's Crab Rice with early summer mushroom, hot sauce pickled okra, and uni béarnaise, an ode to his favorite crab shack in Calvert County.

Marcus DC need to improve on customer service! The food took forever to arrive to the table and when it did the order was not complete. The management on duty failed miserably.

I celebrated my birthday at Marcus DC and had an amazing time. EVERY dish was thoughtfully curated and extremely flavorful. My family & I cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

It was exciting to visit Marus Samuelson's new place in DC. The food is creative, and excellently prepared. The place was lively and busy. We had delicious cocktails, rock fish, misu cauliflower, Swediopia (cured salmon), scallops and cornbread. The use of teff and bebere was especially lovely as a testament to Ethiopian cuisine. Our only disappointment was the service. From the minute we arrived we felt very rushed. Our server was excellent and kind but we had very little time to relax and enjoy the company and the meal because of the many interruptions: asking us to order, asking if they should take away our plates (when we still had food on the table), bringing all the food at once rather than pacing it (the option was not offered to pace the meal). Too many people with too much interaction and too little time to relax, in summary. It would be good to let the client breathe. In the end we were even asked to vacate the table at 10:30 as they were closing.

This was my first time at Marcus DC and it was great. Beautifully decorated. Great service - our server Junior was fantastic. He gave us wonderful recommendations and was just a whole vibe. The food was delicious. I tried several things like the blue cornbread, crab rice and sea bass. The flavors were wonderful and the food presentation was perfect. I definitely recommend this spot for celebrations.
