Cowboy Brunch on Sunday's with live country music artist was wonderful for our family gathering.
Food was very poor, overcooked and very salty vegetables, pork chop special was covered in thick salty gravy and the pork chop was extremely tough.....pork bolognese advertised with bow tie pasta was served with fettuccine instead without any explanation and was all ground pork, no sauce at all...unedible. ....service was unprofessional and unattentive, I had to stop a random waiter to attempt to order an appetizer..was given 2 salad forks on my rolled silverware, not ideal to eat a tough pork chop......the place is not well run and must not employ a proffesional chef.....will not recommend and will not return
Thought the food was just frozen junk with jar sauce. Mash'd in Frisco is better. If we ever go to Marcus again I would get a burger, which will probably be a frozen patty. I know I sound harsh, our friend likes the place, my wife felt like I did. I had some sort of pork wrapped in pork belly. The "fake" bacon was just greasy, if you're gonna do bacon type product it needs to be crispy. The spuds we nothing special, but the sauce was awful. I swear it was from a bottle. Stupid as it may sound, the lobster bisque was very nice, had no lobster chunks in it but the broth was good.
Recently visited this neighborhood restaurant. It was on our "To Try" list as well as several others in Richardson. Since it was my husband and I's Anniversary, we decided to give it a try. We were very pleased. Food was very good and prices were reasonable. We would recommend it as 'a touch above' the normal, but not too expensive. I especially like that several items on the menu could be ordered as whole or half. This way we could taste more options.
Good food. Staff accommodated our opentable reservation even though they were full by seating us at a table at the end of the bar. Food & service were good.
My husband's office has met at this café several time for celebrations. He was so impressed, we invited our best friends and met them there on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is very warm and hospitable. The menu was specialized and there were many things that we will return to try. Hard to decide on just one entrée! The appetizer was delicious, the service was outstanding. Overall worth becoming a usual place to go. Prices are very reasonable as well.
We came here for Christmas Eve dinner 2015 amazing food and wonderful service. They made us feel like it was their pleasure to help us on Christmas Eve, instead of us feeling bad for making people work on that night. The food was great and the drinks were fantastic. We have never been before but will be back for sure!!!
Marcus Cafe is our go to place for work related celebrations. It's also a great place for smaller groups of two or four. The menu is diverse enough for those who eat a fresh, clean diet and satisfies those who aren't following any food plan at all. The service is always great whether you're in a large group or theirs just two of you. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet. You can actually carry on a conversation without yelling over a bunch of noise. It's one of my favorite places.
Great ambiance and service. Our server was very kind but not extremely knowledgeable. Food is very good but some things could be improved. For example, the cheese board appetizer came on a plate, not a board, and the cheeses were nothing special. The salami was basically deli hard salami sliced thin, like you would find at the grocery store, not like a nice Italian variety. But we still all love this place when we go to shows at the Eisemann.
A great place to gather with friends after work. Happy Hour specials vary. Add a pizza to the 1/2 priced bottle of wine on Monday and Wednesdays, grabs some chairs on the patio and you have the makings of a good time.
Visited once with out-of-town guests and once w/family. All 10 entrees over the two different nights were great. Thoughtfully created, presented nicely and very good flavors. They seem to be popular enough that another waiter and cook should be something they consider to keep up with the demand. Thumbs up and enjoyable experience. Barkeep was VERY friendly, fast and attentive.
This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and excellent service. We sat outside in their beautiful patio by the fireplace and would definitely recommend that weather permitting. Every dish our party of four ordered was delicious from their chef's signature hamburger to their create-your-own pasta and chicken caprese. They had a nice wine selection and we would recommend the coconut cream pie for dessert.
Fun and vibrant café nestled in a Richardson neighborhood.
Delicious food. Good service.
Our food was really good, the waiter was attentive, and they had some light live music that made it even more fun. I took my 11 year old son with me, and that worked out fine, but it is even better for couples or larger groups.
Lovely laid back atmosphere with some of the best steak I have had in years.
We arrived on time with another couple and were seated immediately. The patio was wonderful but the fan-misters were misting a little too much spray. Other than that, everything was wonderful. I was very surprised that our very young waiter knew so much about the menu ingredients ... he was great!
Love going to Marcus Cafe, especially when we can't agree on what we want. They have a great variety and friendly service. Whether you want pizza, pasta, burger or a great salad, try this place. Nice place to enjoy the outdoors, so many places seem to forget you when you are on the patio, but not here, they take good care of you. My favorites are the grilled caesar salad with grilled salmon, very filling with yummy smoky flavors. We also like the pizza, very generous portions, great leftovers at home.
This is a great little place nestled in neighborhood Richardson. Their outdoor patio is secluded and a great venue for live entertainment. We had a large group (8) that came to see Jimmy Barcus (sp?) and had a wonderful time. Good food, good wine and excellent entertainment. Check this place out for sure.
While acceptable, it is not a destination site. The food is average although service is friendly and very pleasant. The access is what would be called obtuse, difficult and maybe even dangerous for elderly. Parking is very limited and the path to the restaurant can entail many steps and more inside. Seating is cramped. Clearly the neighborhood folks love the place so they have a future without any of our outside help.
We like Marcus, have been there repeatedly. It's a place for reliably good food
And a pleasing atmosphere, both inside and on the patio.
Lunch came with complimentary bread and dried tomato spread. This spread was one of the tastiest things ever. Fantastically addictive. Nachos and salmon salad were very good too. Topped it all off with awesome homemade coconut cream pie with strawberry sauce. Less expensive than similar competitors.
This is a wonderful change for good food. While there are some 'Mexican dishes", the menu is filled with general favorites served in a no rush atmosphere with outdoor dining and entertainment
Food was slightly below average. I had the salmon and the only thing that allowed me to get through 3/4th's of it was the sauce on top. I've never been very good at preparing salmon at home and this tasted just like mine. My girlfriend got some kind of pork chop dish. It was fried and dry as paper. We had an appetizer, 1 glass of wine each, 2 entree's for $95 without tip. If I had paid $30 for the meal I wouldn't have cared but I wouldn't recommend Marcus Cafe to anyone.
The service was good. Our waiter was attentive for the most part and friendly.
Tucked away in a little neighborhood center off Custer and a bit south of Renner. Quaint cafe with good quality food off of a pretty interesting menu. We had lunch on the covered patio on a 97 degree day and because of shade, fans and misters were very comfortable. A little delay and mix up with the wait staff on who was going to serve our table but once that was solved service was great. Will definitely go back!
Very comfy atmosphere and friendly staff. Their broad menu makes it a great place for different tastes; Italian, Mexican, burgers, sandwiches, steak, seafood and really good beer selection with moderately priced wines and full bar. Too hot to enjoy their outdoor seating now, but looks really nice for Fall and Spring in Dallas. We'll make it a constant in our rotation!
We had reservations and were seated once our group arrived. However, it look over an hour since we placed our order for us to get two pizzas and two dinner salads.
I enjoyed the ambiance and live music - It gave off a very European dining experience (dined outside). I just wish our service was better, especially since we invited friends (it was little embarrassing).
The wife and I treated our friend to dinner at Marcus Cafe. I wasn't wowed by the ambience ( classic rock playing) and our server was friendly and knowing. I'm one to test a restaurant and to do so I had the special which was a prosciutto wrapped Mahi filet on grits with a spinach sauce. I've been served " prosciutto " before and it was sandwich ham. Not here. It was as advertised. And yummy. There's talent in that kitchen and it shows. Worth a visit for that alone.
Laid back atmosphere with great service and wide ranging menu. Grilled Caesar salad was wonderful and smoky tasting, great that you can order a large or small. Had the california and meat selections pizzas. Pizzas were very generous in size and really yummy....had enough to take home and feed 3 people. Service was friendly and attentive. Will certainly go back.
Love that this restaurant is in our neighborhood! Easy access, good food!
Had a 7:00 reservation Saturday night - was promptly seated and given water and bread. After 20 minutes my husband checked with the hostess to see why we had not seen our waiter/waitress as all the tables around us had been served. Waiter finally came up all sweaty - said he had been out on the patio putting up umbrellas. Took our drink order and brought them out. Again, we sat! After another 15 minutes flagged down the busboy to get our waiter so we could order appetizers and our meal. Finally got our food at 8:30! Incredibly slow service. Waiter did come back out to see if we wanted dessert, but at that point we had had enough. Great ice cream place across shopping center. Was unfortunate as it was a cute restaurant .
We hadn't been to Marcus Cafe in a while and now we are wondering why we waited so long. The food was excellent as always. We love their patio. We arrived late so there weren't a lot of people there and we had choice seats on the patio. Our server Jose was as nice as he could be and his service was excellent. We will return soon and often!
We love Marcus Café. The back patio is delightful and charming. Music on the weekend is a treat. The food here is truly scrumptious and with the ever-changing monthly lunch specials that are fresh and innovative we go there as an office group at least once a month.
This is a great little neighborhood find. Very quaint with an unusual menu. Service is always good.
They have a good happy hour as well.
Great neighborhood place in Richardson. Been here twice now and have tried their salads and pizza. Both were very good. Great outside patio for springtime dining. Staff was very attentive. Will be back soon. There is also a full bar on one side of place.
Good food nice ambient service a bit slower than usual
I was aware that the Marcus Cafe existed, but had never dined there. Wanted someplace new for Mother's Day, so.....
And I am so glad I did. Both my wife and I were blown away by the ambiance, the food and the quality of the wait staff. I could not have found anything wanting if I thought about it for a day.
I plan to return with a large party for one of our monthly meals together. I'm sure they will be just as impressed as I was. The deviled eggs appetizer is excellent. We both like BLTs and their's is amazing! Oh, so is the creme brule'. The custard is the best.
My daughters and I wanted something special for a Saturday when my husband was unavailable so I found Marcus Cafe on Yelp. We were looking for a nice patio and there's was great.
My daughters both loved their food as did I.
Will definitely take my husband there for our next date night.
Full bar, nice ambiance - tablecloths & lights - cloudy, so ate inside. We shared tempura shrimp appetizer - well presented - could have been a bit spicier. We both ordered Reuben's - very good & we both took half home - comes w/ their freshly made potato chips. We shared a French apple pie w/ vanilla ice cream - not our favorite. Excellent wait staff - very attentive. The restaurant is tucked into a nice strip mall - My 2 grown children took Yamaha piano lessons in this strip mall back in the 1980's). Will have to return to listen to the music.
This is a nice, yet affordable alternative to the chain restaurants. We had a wonderful time.
