We have been overwhelmed by the support and interest of our fellow desert dwellers. Please know, with every ounce of assurance we can give, this restaurant was designed with you in mind. My wife's people first came to the High Desert in 1930 - dirt road and a Ford Model T - and finally built a house and retired in Twentynine Palms in 1949 and stayed. She spent years - as we moved from major urban area to major urban area - trying to explain the hold this small desert town had on her heart. I didn't get it. Now, seven years after moving to that same small desert town (following her father's passing), I do. And I hope we've captured a bit of that magic. Come see us and let us know how we did...

This restaurant has been permanently closed. I’m surprised OpenTable allowed this booking and was going to send us to an out of business restaurant.

I gave it four stars even though the restaurant is closed permanently. I called on the day of the reservation to ask a question, and the owner answered and told me they had closed. He apologized for the confusion. He said he notified OpenTable, but I guess they did not update. Really, OpenTable still shows them open, and that was almost two months ago. So I suggest you check your reservation on OpenTable before you drive there to find out it is closed.

I dine at Mara with my husband most Friday nights. The service is excellent. I love that Mara comes up with a new menu every month. The chef has a knack for using sometimes unfamiliar ingredients and fusing styles.

The food and ambience of this location is absolutely amazing! Nothing from the menu has disappointed since our first time coming when it opened! Looking forward to every new menu each month!

Mara restaurant is wonderful. It is romantic, the food is inspirational with an eye for details of flavors, textures, and presentation. The service is great. There are gorgeous desert mountains paintings. Did I mention the food? One of us is a ‘special needs’ customer who is always happiest when dining at Mara. Thank you to the chef and team. We loved Mara! We were traveling from Northern California and made a reservation for Thanksgiving. The food was all excellent! We met the chef and you can tell he really cares for his customers and puts 100% into his cooking. We loved it all! The stuffing, the Turkey, the prime rib, the deviled eggs, the desserts…everything!!! Wish we lived closer and we would be frequent diners.

We had a wonderful experience both times we ate at Mara. We had a delicious dinner and Thanksgiving buffet. They use quality ingredients. I want to go back for the breakfast buffet. Family, chef owned. Ambiance, delicious food and a welcoming staff.

I came here with my partner for our anniversary and everyone at the restaurant went so much out of their way to make our day special! they got us flowers, complimentary champagne, and the restaurant owner's wife even got us a WHOLE CAKE!! the chef came out to congratulate us and the servers kept checking in on us. There was a guitarist playing in the restaurant as well which made the restaurant feel so romantic and sweet. I am forever grateful for the happy memories they provided us this last weekend.

Wonderful meal. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and attentive. The Chef/Owner even came out to introduce himself and make sure we were taken care of. Very glad to have another elevated food experience in the high desert.
