Manta is the signature restaurant of the iconic Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and has breathtaking views of the Kohala Coast. The menu is a curation of Pacific Rim cuisine with seasonal, local, and sustainably-produced ingredients.
Chef Bryan Nagao has gained formidable reputation in the international food community. He was once described by American media as "the most notable figures in rendering Modern Asian cuisine in the Northern hemisphere". The creativity permeating his cuisine stems from the diversity of his culinary background. Always excellent. Kapachi was terrific so was Puna chicken. Amazing setting and you can watch the real mantas after sunset.

Very nice experience with our family. We had the lamb and the bouillabaisse. Both were wonderful. Service was great. The view is exceptional and the Manta Ray viewing after dark is worth the trip. We saw two large rays swimming under the light. Majestic. Highly recommended.

We loved our experience here! We were a party of 5 with 2 kids aged 10 and 7. We all loved our food and drinks. We sat outside and had a great view. We had a 6pm reservation, and walked down to the manta ray viewing area after our meal when it was dark, which was one of the main reasons we chose to eat here. We saw a manta ray, it was really cool for the adults and kids to see! The mahi mahi and ahi entrees were both delicious! Desserts were great too, we had the crème brûlée and bombe Alaska. We didn’t care much for the shrimp appetizer, and our waiter was not very attentive, he didn’t come check on us often, but overall we all raved about the meal/experience, and would go back next time we are in town.

Made the mistake of ordering a filet. It was very dry and overcooked. My son’s ahi dish was excellent though! Beautiful setting, and a real treat to watch the Manta swim right by the restaurant!
