I went to try a crab boil for the first time and wow. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Its such good value for the sheer amount of food never mind the quality being top notch. 10/10

I recently visited Maneki, a Japanese seafood restaurant in Dublin 2, with two friends, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. From the outset, we encountered a lack of flexibility when trying to make a simple menu substitution the staff were completely uncompromising, which set the tone for the rest of the evening. We decided to go ahead and ordered their massive seafood platter for €114 and a sushi platter for €70. The sushi was, to be fair, delicious and beautifully presented but the portion size was far too small for the price. The real disappointment, however, was the so-called signature seafood platter. While it looked impressive at first glance, it quickly became clear that the bulk of the presentation was a filler — a mound of chips and vegetables piled high to create the illusion of abundance. Hidden beneath this were two small lobsters (questionably fresh), a crab or two, a few calamari rings, and tofu. For €114, we expected something exceptional not a plate that felt both cheap and hastily put together. The seafood was bland and poorly prepared. Adding to the discomfort, the service was overly invasive. Staff hovered constantly, making it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. It felt less like fine dining and more like a performance with no soul. In all honesty, I would not recommend spending your hard-earned money at Maneki. It’s a place that seems more interested in flashy presentations and inflated prices than in delivering genuine value or quality. A deeply disappointing night out and one I won’t be repeating.

The food is always nice there but the prices has gone way up to the point that it’s not worth it. An 8 piece roll for €27 is beyond me. I was going to have the new holy crab section but 4 people for €216 is absolutely bizarre… Maneki’s food is always so nice and delicious it’s the prices that put me off when I can just go to another japanese restaurant to have the same food.

Myself and my daughter really enjoyed the experience of eating in Maneki. We were initially the only diners in the room - but it was an early sitting. We ordered a Calfornia Roll to share as a starter - it was divine. My daughter had a PojecBowl. The presentation was beautiful and she really enjoyed it. I had Yaki Soba. It was very tasty. My only criticism is that there could have been more prawns and chicken - it was mainly pork - and there were only 2 prawns. Would recommend this resteraunt for friendly staff and excellent food.
