The new Mamma Melina, occupying the south end of the Corydon Apartments near University Village, has more in common with the Varchetta's stylish Barolo downtown.
On a summer day you'd think it was Rodeo Drive and not the Burke-Gilman Trail that runs alongside the broad front patio. Amid shallow pools holding silver globes that glint in the sun, beautiful people in oversized sunglasses sip wine on thickly cushioned sofas or sup on house-made pasta under canvas umbrellas at white-clothed tables.Price points are moderate and the cooking is assured.
Wonderful evening at Mamma Melina. Sunny Seattle evening so the deck was open. We opted for inside and had a fabulous dinner. Halibut was amazing. Risotto as well. Service couldn't have been better and overall just a great experience. Thanks, Mamma Melina!
I’ve written reviews before. Mama Melina’s is always great. Food, service great, courteous- you name it.
Mama Melina’s is a terrific neighborhood spot. Never disappoints!
Good happy hour! Will return!
Always good. Each time we go food and service is excellent
Amazing ossobucco and gnocchi!! Would definitely come back again!!
Good wine, great table location, thank you!
Yes I would, but I recommend choosing food from the menu and not the daily specials.
Sudden visitors from Bellingham and Seattle dropped by at the last minute and I was able to get a perfect reservation (outdoor table) at 5:45pm with very short notice. It was a beautiful afternoon and
not crowded yet. It's always a pleasure to be on Mamma's outdoor patio. We had a mix of of dishes including fish, pasta, salads. I had my "go-to" meal there--two appetizers--beet salad and carpaccio.
Seattle's best "light dinner."
Amazing service, great food, will definitely be back.
The calamari was very greasy and dor the price way to small amount.
The fetuccini was dry and you could hardly see the salmon.
the grill chicken and salad was a 1/4 of a breast plus a hundful of arugula, too small to be a main dish salad.
The service was cordial and slow.
We have had consistently good meals at Mamma Melina in the past, but the last experience was very disappointing. The chicken parmigiana and pasta Bolognese were both well below average. The meals were very slow coming out and we were told the kitchen was “backed up” even though there were many empty tables at the time. The only thing we really enjoyed was the antipasto plate.
Mamma Melina is a go-to spot for me. It's great for couples, outdoor seating (in the warmer weather of course), good wood-fired pizza, upbeat atmosphere, and a great happy hour. There are some foibles (over-dressed caesar, sometimes slow service) but overall a solid dinner choice.
This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. The food is consistently good and the staff is always friendly and accommodating.
Birthday- great service!
Always superb! A very diverse and large menu and they will do anything special for you based on your diet needs, allergies, preferences, you name it. They want to make you happy customers...and they will. Highly recommended!!!
Food was delicious, staff was very nice. A bit loud but I’m pretty sure that was due to a few big groups. It was a bit pricey, but we did go here for a very nice dining experience, which it was. I would definitely go back again.
From out of town and could not have been happier with service, food and general atmosphere. Never felt rushed and was treated as the only customers in restaurant.
Fabulous all around!
Good food. Good service. Pleasant dining room. Clams and cannelini bean appetizer made a meal. Calamari crispy and light. Nice wine by the glass list. Will return!
Had the beet salad at lunch. The goat cheese and walnuts were good, but the sliced beets looked and tasted like they were from a can.
Troy our waiter was great. He was attentive and not intrusive. The food was excellent although my shrimp was a tad dry.
We were pleasantly surprised by Mamma Melina, as this was our first time. The portions were large and the meat and seafood were cooked to perfection. I had wild salmon cooked perfectly and my husband had the lamb (incredibly sized serving!). The service was top notch and I loved the patio with the water art. Would certainly recommend! (we didn't have dessert, but it looked devine!)
They were very busy and a bit short handed this visit, but we were in no rush as we were celebrating our birthdays. Service very friendly. Food delish and they surprised us with a free dessert. Mamma Melina’s has been a long-standing favorite.
I have been a frequent diner at Mama Malina’s. It is conveniently located to where I live. It is the restaurant I invariably take my out of town guests too. I know the food and service will always be superior. My guests and I have never been disappointed. Invariable someone from my party comments on the excellence of the food and how much they enjoyed the experience. Thank you Mama Melina!
Great service and good food.
The food is consistently good and friendly service. It is our go-to restaurant.
Great service and great food.
I was a little disappointed in the noise level. I had asked for a quieter part of the restaurant for my elderly parents. Other than that everything was great. Food was delicious and server was wonderful!!!
Halibut was absolutely perfecr
Our server Trevor was amazing!!! The flavor of the fettuccine Bolognese was a bit tart and not as flavorful as the salmon past special we had. All ingredients were fresh and overall it was a great dinner
Pretty restaurant, poor service , the seafood in the linguini was bad and the pasta in the Bolognaise was mushy and bland, the halibut and risotto was the only tasty dish. We will not return.
We love Mama Melina and eat there whenever we are in the city. The food is always beautifully presented and very good. It is comparably priced to other restaurants of its caliber. I think the desserts are a little overpriced, but if you're going to splurge on calories, splurge on the dollars too. It was super busy this last time for a Monday night because of graduation parties, but service was still pretty good. Our favorite time to go is during restaurant week because we get to try things that are not always on the menu. Recommend you give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
We enjoyed our experience there. We would definitely go back. The servers seemed confused as to who was to take care of us, so we ended up overly taken care of by 3 separate servers.
An elegant location with delicious food! All 4 people in our party ordered the two-course meal. Just the right amount of food!
Family in town
We have enjoyed going to Mama Melina's for several years, both as a family plus girlfriends for bi monthly luncheons.
The restaurant and staff have always been very attentive.
The food is fantastic and very nicely plated. Great value for the price.
Free convenient parking is another extra we appreciate.
We will continue to trek from Issaquah to the University District for as long as MM is there.
Food was okay. Service and atmosphere was awesome. Very pricy for not that great of food
Great service and food. I plan on going back again soon.
Mamma Melina is the perfect place to celebrate any occasion. Whether you're having happy hour with friends or want the multi-course dinner experience, there's a table for that and the ambiance for that. The food is lovely, the location is great, there is actually parking, and the service is always top notch. We are big fans of Mamma Melina's and will be back soon!
