The new Mamma Melina, occupying the south end of the Corydon Apartments near University Village, has more in common with the Varchetta's stylish Barolo downtown.
On a summer day you'd think it was Rodeo Drive and not the Burke-Gilman Trail that runs alongside the broad front patio. Amid shallow pools holding silver globes that glint in the sun, beautiful people in oversized sunglasses sip wine on thickly cushioned sofas or sup on house-made pasta under canvas umbrellas at white-clothed tables.Price points are moderate and the cooking is assured.

Appetizer was good, the desserts were outstanding. The beef entree was dry and overcooked for medium. The broccolini looked bedraggled and the mashed potatoes were tepid. The plate just looked messy. The focaccia was tough, maybe day old? Have had stellar dinners in the past, this wasn’t.
The pasta was perfectly al dente and dish was delicious. Everything was done very well. Our wait person was attentive and excellent!
We had the razor thin beef carpaccio and it melted in your mouth with a hint of truffle oil.followed by a light salad with butter lettuce and goat cheese which was drizzled by sweet balsamic vinegar- yum!
The special steelhead fish with pesto entree was fantastic . It was served with plump Guif prawns and perfectly prepared risotto.
The wines were just the right accompaniment and the service very attentive. Will will be back soon!
Absolutely the best place within 50 miles. The lunch and dinner menu are truly italian, the wine list the same. It's got something for everyone.
This is a favorite business lunch spot for me. The food is great and so is the service! You can have a conversation without raising your voice.
Excellent service. Could easily get reservations on week night. However the special risotto was without much flavor and not creamy. Other guests at our table thought the Bolognese was excellent.
Again the best Risotto I've ever had. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals including our young grandchildren. Will return again and again!!!
Lovely setting. Service slow and hurried. Veal Scallopini unacceptable. Small veal portion with 2 small cutlets. No flavor. May return for pizza
Great food and service always
Excellent service. Loved our waitress. She was phenomenal
Extremely loud and difficult to have a conversation across the table.
Warm and cozy.
Broccoli appetizer was boring; seemed like it was just steamed with some Mama Lils added. Not worth the money.
Butter lettuce salad was very nice.
Egglplant parmagiano would have been better with a lot more eggplant but the flavors were good.
Bolognas was excellent as always but apparently the gnocchi was just kind of basic according to the other diners. Service was slower than usual & they almost forgot to bring out one of our appetizers
Valentine's Day was very busy. We didn't get the booth I had asked for when I made the reservations because they said they needed to save them for larger parties. Food was very good but not spectacular. Same with the service.
Our server was very helpful with the menu and accommodating us. I could imagine dinning here again. The wait was also very short once we got checked in using open table.
Second time we have been here, same great food and service both times. Will defonitely be back.
Could very well be the best Italian food in Seattle! Relaxing atmosphere, friendly wait staff and imaginative food. We have been here many times over the years and never disappointed.
Great place, service was very quick, and the personnel really nice, food is great. We'll be back for sure.
Their food is always consistent in quality. It's our favorite Italian restaurant.
This new location and ownership will never compare to the Mamma Melina ran by the previous owners, the Varchetta brothers, who own two Italian ristorantes downtown: Barolo and Cinque Terre. The food is essentially fine but nothing fantastic. The whole feeling of the restaurant was hotel' ish/corporate. The service was amazing, and that plus the dessert were the two redeeming qualities of the meal.
On the pricey side, but well worth it for a special occasion.
Love this place. Great menu and service. Would have given it a 5 across but we felt the pomodoro sauce was far to spicy.
Wonderful food served in an elegant and stylish setting.
Exceptional Italian restaurant. Food, ambiance and service are consistently well done! Wine selection is varied and price positive.
We went to Mamma Melina to celebrate a late Holiday with one of our children. And left planning the next wedding. The service was excellent; and the food was delicious. The pasta and entree's we ate were delicious -- especially enjoyed the gnocchi and pork entree. We all wished that there would have been ravioli however. A nice wine selection and decor as well.
We love this restaurant. Wait staff is super friendly, food is always terrific. Perfect place to get together before a Husky BB game.
A bit of feedback - while our food was wonderful, as usual, the location of our table was terrible - along the window line BUT against an emergency exit door and crammed between two other tables. It was just odd and should be eliminated. Also, my menu was empty. Thankfully, our server immediately recognized our poor placement and was lovely.
We make many trips to Seattle from down south but we rarely travel north of UW. Finding Mamma Melina's was an amazing stroke of luck. We will return frequently. Great atmosphere, great fresh Italian food, attentive service and free, dry parking. Unbeatable combination!
Excellent ingredients and preparation. Unique menu creates an interesting and special dining experience! We’re definitely going back!
Had to move our reservation back and they were great about accommodating us.
Great service. Food came out fast and hot. Great flavors. One of our favorite restaurants .
This place is amazing! Excellent atmosphere, food and service! We definitely be back 😊
One of my favorite restaurants as the food is always superb, the service very good, but the noise level is so high that I have rather given up going in the evenings. Try lunch if you want to have a conversation. The special menu is a great bargain and the steelhead always delicious.
Food and service was outstanding as usual! A real gem,
Great service, good food including a complimentary birthday dessert.
Our birthday event for a party of six was amazing - everyone raved about the food, the service, and atmosphere at Mamma Melina. We'll definitely be back soon!
First time here. All was excellent. We had a reservation and the host person want to seat us right by the main door. We asked for a booth and were accomodated.
A small group of friends getting together to celebrate a birthday. Reservations were at 06:30 and party members coming from different areas of the city were late. Restaurant staff was very corteous and felt no pressure to hurry our party. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Thank You!! Food was all served within minutes of each other and very tasty.
Wonderful restaurant. Service and food were wonderful. Definitely worth it.
As Always, Mamma Melina's delivers every time :) Our favorite Italian place in Seattle :)
Consistently excellent food and service. Many places rest on their laurels and their location -- but not this one. They try as hard now -- and succeed as much -- as when they were much smaller and over on Roosevelt Way.
Food and service was good.
