Pronounced ‘mum’ and referring to the art of fermentation, the menu focuses on skewered meat cooked on a robata grill. The skewers predominantly feature cuts of chicken, but the kitchen also showcases weekly specials such as rare-breed beef and seafood. Served sharing style with rice noodle parcels, chopped veg, colourful pickles, an abundance of fresh Vietnamese herbs, lettuce leaves and rice paper wrappers, diners are encouraged to choose their own way of eating them.
The light, airy 40-cover restaurant, divided between a bar area at the front and dining room conservatory at the back, also offers a refined cocktail menu.
Local charming restaurant with simple Vietnamese food.
Could work on improving hygiene levels especially during Covid 19, no hand sanitizer offered after having to turn door handle to Street and loos not very clean.
Pretty average experience. Food was good but overpriced. Service wasn’t very good, waitress was rude. Music was blaring the likes of Hips Don’t Lie and other terrible club music from 15 years ago (on a quiet Sunday afternoon). Lovely setting and such good potential but we were all disappointed.
Love this place. A great, cosy local with consistently good food.
Our service was a bit slower than normal on Friday but it was super busy.
I’ll be going back again soon
We we’re delighted to have visited Mam during our visit to Notting Hill. The food was fantastic, great wine and the lovely atmosphere. The staff were very friendly too- I’d highly recommend booking a table here.
Mam always has the most amazing food paired with great service and a lovely informal welcoming atmosphere.
We have been to Vietnam a lot and the food at Mam is very authentic and so fresh. There is a very widely varied menu so it’s not just lots of Pho!
Try the crispy chicken wings which are divine
Delicious food, the happy hour was also really good value and the cocktails were yummy
Worst run restaurant I have ever been to in London.
Terrible, complicated menu - When we asked about it, we just got attitude and rudeness back.
There was a dish that came with skewers, we asked the server (pretty sure he was also the manager) what's a skewer, like how big? Kebab shop skewer or small BBQ?
He just replied angrily "IT'S A SKEWER, I DONT GET WHY YOU DONT UNDERSTAN"
Anyway, it was my mum's birthday and the waiter/manger really ruined the vibe. No apology when we confronted him by telling him he was being rude. No offer to to try and make it up. Just terrible.
Would definitely not come back — food is good though
Great food. Lovely atmosphere. And not too pricey for London
Adriano was uninterested in serving our table. I had to send my drink back 3x because it was gross each time. I had asked for a virgin mojito- I got cold water with sugar syrup. I asked why, they said they didn’t have: gingerale, lemonade or mint. I then asked for sprite or 7up and a bit of basil (if they didn’t have mint) they eventually sent me a lemonade with mint. So, clearly they had the ingredients, they were just being lazy.
Every time I tried to order something and asked for a recommendation or suggestion, Adriano would yell at us and say ‘I cant choose your food for you!’
Our food was constantly late, our server was rude. I don’t suggest this restaurant.
Tasty food, though the lettuce leaves were not very fresh. The food on the plate was a bit cramped and would benefit from a bigger plate.
The service was appalling ...once it got busy ...1st round of drinks was great ..but once more people came in the quality of the same cocktails went down drastically . Orders took time to come ..they need more staff on hand .
Booked, for there and it was closed. Still haven’t heard back from them
Booked Mam for New Years Eve only to get there and it be shut. Spent the night searching for a last minute place to eat. Extremely rude and disappointed - and have not even reached out to apologise.
Having made a reservation through the Open Table app, we arrived at the restaurant to find it closed!
I didn’t actually dine at the restaurant. The restaurant ended up being closed on the night I made the reservation.
Booked a table for 4 on the 28th December through Open table. Arrived but the restaurant was shut. Never experienced anything like this before. Incredibly unprofessional. Total disgrace. Wont ever be going back. Avoid at all costs!
The restaurant was closed. No indication on opentable that it was closed. Tried to call, no answer. Party of 8 had to find another local restaurant.
Service let’s the restaurant down from the abrupt greeting on arrival to the ambivalent attitude of the waiter delivering the food to the lack of knowledge of the menu and the wine list. Food was good on arrival and the environment pleasant enough.
Great food and a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely go back.
That was an amazing meal. The short ribs were incredible. You guys are definitely on target for being one of the best places in London for Vietnamese Cuisene. 👍👍👍
Overall nice place, had a reservation but needed to wait 20min to get seated. At the time when got to ordering broth was finished so could order any Pho.
The woman behind the bar selfishly runs the restaurant with heaps of negative attitude and little care for any of her dinners or service team. The food is great, but service is a real let down, stay miles clear of the counter seats, and count on spotty service.
The food was decent but we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated and then wait another 30 minutes to eat. And for all that inconvenience we were offered a bottle of sparkling water!!!
I visited MAM on a Friday night with some friends. I was really impressed with the ambience and interior of the restaurant, really relaxed but still cool and welcoming. The service was also very good. However I was not impressed with the food. The fried chicken had a strange taste The fried chicken had a strange taste and the dumplings were very oily. Also I did not enjoy the pancake. This is a shame because it is a great place to hang out in and the drinks are good too.
The best Vietnamese I had in a while and would recommend this little gem to others for sure
Nice place with decent food but quite overpriced for what it serves. Pho was lacking taste intensity. Excellent Vietnamese coffee must taste!
Decent food and cocktails...
One of the waiter's (Asian Guy) wasn't too friendly or responsive - Always felt like we were bothering him.
Think it was a race thing in all honesty because we are black - He seemed much more polite to everyone else.
Other staff were great.
We felt that the food was not as tasty as expected from past visits. It all seemed half hearted. I had the Pho and my friend had the skewers - neither of which tasted particularly seasoned. The spicy dumplings that we shared to start were the best things out of the meal and even those weren't very warm. The service was TERRIBLE! Anytime we wanted anything at all, we had to go up to the counter to ask. The servers only came into our part of the restaurant when they were clearing away after guests who had left. Ours was not the only table who had to request service. Overall I was disappointed. I feel I could have spent £25 somewhere else and enjoyed a much more delicious and service conscious meal.
When I first visited I couldn’t sing it’s praises enough... now...I wouldn’t bother. The staff bear in mind there were 4 other customers in, were less than attentive.
There signature dish in which you wrap your skewers lettuce leaves came with 4 lettuce leaves for 3 people... the order was missing an extra skewer.
The rose was delicious though. The floor was greasy as were the stairs.
Such a shame.
The food is really delicious, particularly the Vietnamese barbecue and the chicken pancake starter. Service isn't the fastest, but the people were lovely and it's a lovely space to sit and chat. A great experience.
Great place for couples or groups and the food is really tasty and good value!
Yummy food and super nice people. We will be back! francesx
Nice food - toilets filthy throughout our evening. Really not acceptable in this day and age!
The service is a little slow and one of my starters never made it to the table, but the food is outstanding and worth the wait.
Amazing food, great atmosphere
Food was really good. Everything else was terrible. Took an hour for our starters to arrive, then another 40 minutes for our main course. It was truly amateur hour at MAM, the staff seemed erratic as be clueless.
Food was good but no variety of garnish. All plates had the same. Pancakes were good but did not understand the skewers. Quite expensive for what you got. Noodle soup a bit tasteless. Liked the atmosphere and service but the volume of the music much too high + wrong kind of music I think. Asian of some kind would have been more suitable. Could hardly hear what the waiter said because of the noice.
Love the service, the food, the cocktails and atmosphere.
Poor food and poor service . Shortage of food and drinks .
the food is fantastic especially the short rib just a lovely place to go and eat.
