   MALA is AMAZING! I made reservations months in advance knowing that my party of 7 would be celebrating a special birthday on the evening of the London Marathon (41,000+ runners.) We were running late; they accommodated us. We got lost on St. Katherine's Dock; they guided us in. We were initially seated next to a noisy crowd; they created a special table for us elsewhere. EVERYTHING and ANYTHING they could do to accommodate us they did with a smile...and they rewarded our good cheer with champagne, a delicious assortment of vegetarian appetizers and, most importantly, gracious good cheer. The food? Well beyond our expectations; the best, most delicious Indian food our group of semi-foodies had ever experienced. We were a group of seven from all parts of the US, including such Food Towns as Portland, Oregon and NYC. MALA wowed us all. In a 5-day getaway that included lunch at Ottolenghi, suffice it to say that we voted MALA #1 for food, service, value and over-all experience.

   I used to go here at least once every couple of months when I lived close by and it was always good. This visit was disappointing. Nobody else was dining when we arrived, but the waiting staff were inattentive and busy talking between themselves. I actually felt like a hinderance. The food was average. The onion bharji was a very small portion, with a high price. It was tasteless and in my opinion frozen shop bought. The main was poorly presented and was about as appetising as cardboard. For such a premier location and prices the bathrooms are old, dirty and need attention. I’m sorry to say it’s overpriced, poor service and complacent.

   Food is simply awesome and priced appropriately for this part of London. They will add 12.5% service charge to your bill. Service was a bit aloof. Not bad, but not very attentive.

   Very nice view of St Katherine's Docks. Service was great and (curry) food amazing. Will be back soon to taste other recipes and enjoy restaurant and location.

   We loved the plush yet relaxed feel of this place – in a beautiful location. All round 5-Star at affordable prices. We have visited MALA numerous times over the years with friends or family or for business dinners - always has been faultless and memorable. The cuisine is absolutely authentic, one of the best Indian restaurants in London. Service was well-timed and friendly staff especially one of the pleasant managers Mr. Farook. Will visit again on another occasion soon.
