   We had an enjoyable experience at Mala. The service for our party of nine was excellent, very friendly, competent and knowledgeable. The menu variety and food and presentation was very good with well prepared choices, that suited everyone’s taste. Overall Mala represents an excellent dining value at a picturesque Maui waterfront location that feels lmore like a restaurant than a tavern.

   Great food. Average atmosphere. Really expensive like everything in Maui - especially compared to virtually anywhere in the Mediterranean, Australia or New Zealand. Been here many times. Now they even ad a 4% “kitchen service charge”.

   We started with some delicious calamari and then had their fried whole fish - so good. Cute place with good service.

   The salad was excellent. A nice bib lettuce with roasted almonds, feta, a smooth citrus dressing. The Whole Fish (Poca Pcoa) was disappointing. It was portrayed as fresh, whole and fileted at the table. In reality it was scored and deep friend which (in my view) is a terrible thing to do to a beautiful piece of fish. Pan fry or bake it but not deep fried. The server demonstrated to us his technique fileting the fish but left that to us. Also disappointing. The veggies and potatoes were clumped together under the fish. It was kind of a sloppy mess.

   Although they serve great food, it is bit on the pricey side for the portion size. Greet service. Tasty cocktails.

   This place is tremendous, beautiful spot, small, quaint and the experience is fantastic. The wait staff from the top to the bottom are courteous attentive and on the ball. The food is second to none and the price is more than fare. Go enjoy and have a good time. If for some reason that doesn’t happen, you got big problems so don’t worry about that place. Enjoy!!!

   Excellent service and food. Our waitress was wonderful and we got lucky with a beautiful sunset. Great birthday celebration.

    This is one of our favorite places to go in Maui! Food is amazing! The service and ambiance is superb. We had the table outside next to the water. Gorgeous sunset to follow. Thank you Mala Ocean Tavern you did it again. We come every time we’re in Maui.
