The food is good, one of the best in town but to be honest nothing really impressive and remarkable. The service is exceptional. The lower points are the cocktails and desserts. Makal is hands down the best restaurant I’ve been to in Puerto Vallarta and I’ve been to a lot! We came here for my birthday and did the tasting menu, and it was absolutely incredible. Every dish was so thoughtful and full of flavor, from the ensalada criolla to pancita de lechon. The presentation was beautiful and everything tasted amazing. Their cocktails are also great, my favorite was the Tuba Makal. Super refreshing and unique. Highly recommend doing the tasting menu if you go. The service was excellent and the whole experience felt really special. Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in town!

Es una experiencia sorprendentemente inovadora y bien lograda. El balance de los sabores y las texturas es increible. El lugar muy simple, para mi gusto, pero lo compensa con la excelente cocina. Muy recomendable.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience. We did the 10 course menu. I did pairing with wine, my partner did cocktail pairing. The staff made it a special event for us. Food was delicious. There was 1 item on the menu we didn’t eat, the staff suggested a replacement for us too.

This is a great place for foodies. The menu items are delicious and unique. The service is exemplary. We did not do the chefs tasting menu, but loved our entree selections. However $35USD corkage fee and $20 a.glass “house wine” is a bit much in our opinion. Glad we went, probably would not go back, we just aren’t that sophisticated.
