Great food, great drinks, great service, great value. A must try the $79 set dinner. A month waiting list, but might luck out on cancellation.
Very friendly and knowledgeable waiter- the food was OUTSTANDING!! We went for dine out and the 2 of us ordered EVERYTHING on the menu and shared which was they way to go. Small and intimate setting- very COVID safe distancing. You must order the cornbread and the flatiron steak with plum sauce. Will definitely be back
Great Meal as part of Dineout. Exceeded expectations.
Did Dine Out to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is quite small proving a nice ambiance however it also meant that people’s conversations were quite loud.
Aside from the 3 course meal, we also added the corn bread with honey butter. That butter is so good with caramelized bits. I’d come back on a special occasion.
The added touch of taking a Polaroid photo for us for the occasion was sweet.
Small boutique restaurant in Kitsilano - great host/server, friendly staff, but unique and great food. For the Dine Out, I wish there was one more course - perhaps a small one just to round out the experience.
Elegant. Exquisite dishes. Worthy of a Michelin star
Very well designed plates with balanced and complex flavours. A very good experience and interesting sake and wine selection. Cozy space perfect for a dinner for 2.
It was my husbands birthday and I took him and our 4 years old son there to celebrate, very boutique size restaurant, but nice and quiet, except the smell of oil from the kitchen is a bit heavy. Other than that, no complains, had fine out menu, food was great! Loved all the dishes. There’s no high chair or booster seat at the restaurant but they gave us a corner table with the bench chairs so my toddler was sitting pretty comfortably. Overall a good experience!
First time guests but we will be back for sure. We opted for the tasting menu and we were very impressed. The presentation was very professional and the variety was amazing. The food was exquisite. Our deserts were so special. We don't often dine at super high end restaurants but this was well worth it for our special occasion.
I can say that Mak N Ming is my favorite fusion restaurant in Vancouver. Their food consists of pretty presentation and great balance. Definitely worth trying it and visiting again.
We loved it. The recipes were innovative and unique to this restaurant. The ingredients were very fresh and expertly combined and prepared. The presentations were beautiful. I had cold sake instead of wine and it went perfectly with the food. We will definitely go back.
This has become one of our favourite neighbourhood haunts. The food is always outstanding, creative, and memorable. The wine list is perfect, off the beaten path, with interesting pours that pair extremely well with the cuisine. Trust Joshua to steer you through the wine list. It’s small and intimate. Don’t pass up the opportunity to try the once-a-week bento box takeout. Again, it’s a treat, and you can take a bottle of wine home with you!
kind of fusion and omakase mixed together，no matter the taste and the food quality I love it
The food is not as good as expected for the price.
We had the duck breast and udon for our main course. And they are really bland. The dishes flavours are not delveloped. Not worth the hype and won’t be back.
The food was good. The scallops were excellent. We always have good experience dinning in Mak N Ming.
The food was excellent. The freshest ingredients combined creatively and presented beautifully. The service is worth mentioning as well. I recommend the tasting menu! We will definitely return.
Mak N Ming offers consistent quality in terms of service and food.
Excellent restaurant! Definitely top 3 in the city.
We had the bento box. Dishes were very refreshing n innovative. Service was excellent.
Appetizers and desserts were great！ But the main course was just so so. Also, I booked a table for my bf's birthday. They didn't say ''happy birthday'' to my boyfriend. But gave another table a birthday cake with candle and say ''happy birthday'' to them. Well, I guess they forgot us. Overall was great.
This is our celebration restaurant for birthdays, anniversaries, and just good food. Having traveled the world for holidays, we have found that a person would be hard pressed to find a better restaurant any where in the world for the price that you pay.
Looking forward to our next visit already.
The food was great, also the service. Will definitely dine in again when they have new menu.
Very friendly service. Food options are limited due to covid. I hope they would expand their menu or change there menu from time to time. Regardless I would be back. Thank you for the delicious food n friendly service, Ming!
We love this place. It's intimate, the food always surprising but always good. The new format (either a la carte or menu) is even better than before.
Marvelous food, some of the best we have had anywhere in the world.
Amazing professional and warm service. And the food took me away. My first time but not the last time. Sablefish was mouthwatering and the duck was addictive.
The food and service are excellent and using local ingredients are a plus to the menu.
The Japanese and French combination never disappoint.
Great work Mak N Ming.
Food is the best in Van
But dessert is different place.
We feel we came in different cafe after eating food.
Doesnt match with food
Not good quality.
Great food and great service !
Good quality! We had the wagyu beef and it was just a bit too well done for us. We liked it medium rare. Overall great experience.
Small, intimate environment. Fantastic, innovative, and fuss free food. Staff & owners take pride in their restaurant. Would definitely go back.
Mak n Ming serves great food.
Fusion of Japanese and French.
Great environment and food.
Poor ventilation, smoke everywhere. Food way over priced. Didn't even finish the dinner due to eyes burning up.
Incredible meal. Can’t wait to go back!
Came for Valentines/anniversary and had the Chefs menu. I can’t recommend it enough. Each dish was more delicious than the last, and the attention to detail was impressive. I love that the menu changes; we will definitely come back and try a new menu!
Brilliant flavors and excellent service!
Really great experience, exceed expectation in almost every way. Chef’s menu definitely worth trying, especially the Wakyu option. Had a really nice time and can’t wait to go again! Well done!
My wife and I were unable to get a Valentine's Day reservation - understandably, the place filled up pretty quickly - but Mak N Ming made sure our February 13 date night was a magical one, one to remember for sure. We were served a delicious meal in multiple courses, dishes brought one by one to us, always together, giving us plenty of time to connect with each other in close, intimate comfort. The slow build up by means of many, MANY small, appetizing treats to a magnificent, filling main course, followed by a sumptuous dessert, left us happy, filled, and more in love than ever before! Thank you, Mak N Ming, you and your wonderful cooks and excellent servers! You have given us a wonderful night, and we shan't forget it! We'll be back - see you soon!
Came for dineout and overall the experience was just ok. The beef katsu was unfortunately too rare for my liking. The server and restaurant should let people know about the rareness of the meat in case it doesn't suit their tastebuds.. so they can consider that when choosing the mains - 1 here for me for the lack of service in this regard. The brown butter cake was a let down. It was uninventive, bland, and tasted like a muffin you would have from a cafe in the morning. At a $45 price point you would expect a better "cake" dessert option. Lastly, I had requested a booth option but was not given one even though the entire time we were dining there was a booth available. When a customer writes a request in the reservation, good service means that you would try to accommodate this. Other than that the sablefish, tuna, and coconut pudding were delicious. However, I'm not sure I would return here anytime soon.
Fantastic food and exquisitely attentive service. The environment and ambiance were soothing. Our favourite dining experience in Vancouver.
