Maison Pucha Bistro
Honestly, I would not recommend this place for seafood. We ordered the $130 seafood platter that was maybe $50 worth of food. It was insanely skimpy and overpriced. I do not mind paying for seafood if I know it is worth it. The drinks were also subpar. There are lots of other places better suited for ordering seafood platter/towers.
This was our first time at MPB. It was our daughter's birthday so we wanted to take significant other and her someplace special and MPB delivered. We found the food and service to be excellent. We started off with oysters, both raw and cooked; the oysters were somewhat small in size but that only increased their delicacy and flavor. Next my wife and I shared a watermelon salad which was not only refreshing but wonderfully flavored. My daughter and her significant other shared a caesar salad and it was prepared tableside and tasted like a caesar salad should (which is something most restaurants don't get right with their already made dressing). For main courses, my wife and I split the Duck l'Orange and my daughter and her significant other shared the trout almondine. Both were visually appealing and tasted exquisite. Our final course was the chocolate duo souffle, which came with a candle and a rendition of the happy birthday song. We split it four ways and would recommend to anyone dining at MPB that they order it for dessert. The cocktails ordered before dinner were well made and very tasty. The wine list is extensive. The service was impeccable and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the history of MPB, the items on the menu and the cocktails and wine lists. I acted on his suggestion for a wine, a pinot noir from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, and very pleased with the selection. We were there early as we had a 7:30 show to attend so the restaurant was only starting to get crowded as we were leaving at 7:00; as a result, the noise level was quite good while we were there and we really didn't have any problem with hearing across the table or with hearing conversations from nearby tables. All in all, a most enjoyable dinner and MPB will be a place to which my spouse and I will return.
Perfect food, service and decor. Great attention to detail in all areas, Maison Pucha never disappoints!
Ponzu crab was excellent. Surf and turf very good.
Cocktails were sub-par
Server was difficult to understand and unfriendly
Better choices to be had for the $$$
the incredible food! the excellent service! Widely recommended!
Staff on top of their game and food was outstanding
Always one of the best tables of Houston!! Love the place and the team!
The food was fantastic! My wife and I went for out anniversary dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, ambiance, food, and service! Top pick!
Love the food here - delicious! The only thing I really don't like is that the table cloths are covered with white paper, which feels a bit cheap and doesn't match the ambiance and food.
My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary here after having our wedding reception here last year. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They greeted us warmly and we even had the same server! The food was amazing (as always). We left full and happy and excited to return soon. Whatever you do, don't leave without trying the souffle. It's all that and more. Thank you for a beautiful experience Maison Pucha!!
Keep up the great work! We can’t wait to visit again.
It was our first visit, but it definitely won’t be our last! We loved everything we ate! The service was exceptional!! Thank you for a memorable experience!!
A trip to Maison Pucha is like a trip to a chic restaurant on the Left Bank without the Jet Lag.
Excellent food, service and ambiance.
Great service and wonderful food!
Fabulous experience the food was unique and really good, we enjoyed ourselves. had a great time and great service.
I have dined here twice - the first time was Valentine's Day, and the service was on point, even on such a busy day. Not so much for brunch, recently, even though there were not many other diners. The service was very friendly, but very slow. it must have taken at least 15 minutes to get a cocktail. The food, however, is wonderful. Flavor, presentation, and concept (French with a bit of Latin America) are outstanding. Half price wines at brunch and Happy Hour are a bargain, and there are many interesting choices on the list. Everything I have eaten here was beautiful and delicious.
Every aspect of the evening was first class. From the happy hour to the dinner. They have 1/2 price wines and we got one after a few drinks and brought it to the table. The tuna tartar, crap Pucha and empanadas were excellent first courses.
Food exceeded expectations! Everything was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The flank steak was one of the best I’ve ever had and our evening was finished off by a chocolate soufflé that we fought over who would get the last bite.
This is a delightful restaurant! All 4 of our dinners were beautifully presented & absolutely delicious. It a really pretty restaurant inside, & lovely looking outside.
The food is delicious and beautiful presentation. It’s the only reason we keep coming back. Service could be better— the servers aren’t as attentive as you would expect for such a nice restaurant.
What a disappointment. The restaurant bills itself as a French Bistro, but if it is it's in name only for myself and wife and another couple. Following is a list of issues: They wanted to seat us at a table in the back next to the restroom door; we objected, the hostess first said there are no other tables for four, and then relented; 20 minutes after seating, no one had asked us what we wanted to drink; we eventually ordered wine from the wine list that contained only about 6 choices; looking around, it was obvious that the wait crew was totally confused about what food was ordered by what table (they twice brought meals to our table and other tables--we had not even ordered; when ordering the duck l'orange, the server volunteered that the chef recommended that it be cooked to medium; when the duck arrived it was pink rare to medium rare; I asked the supervisor if the duck was medium, and he said no that it was medium rare to rare. I sent it back and had a lame excuse for salad nicoise for dinner; our server never apologized for the duck; throughout our time at the restaurant, the noise level was so high that the four of us almost had to write notes to communicate, and we like buz in a restaurant, but this was beyond buz. If you enjoy good cuisine, service and ambiance, go elsewhere. You won't find it at this restaurant.
Interesting menue and dinner. The wine was a bit warm. Steak tartare average and too runny. The filet was very good and the pepper sauce quite good. Very good fries. The room on the right was warm compared to the rest of the restaurant. The major negative for us was the noise level making conversation difficult.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We show often and have a table we regularly sit at.
Wonderful food and attentive service. A great spot for a business dinner.
Excellent food and amazing service. We will definitely be back.
We had Steelhead Trout. This was a new fish to us. We would highly recommend it. It is has a very fresh, mild taste. Call to make sure it will be available when you plan to go. This is a lovely restaurant in the Heights area. We also ate the chocolate soufflé. Wonderful! Definitely a "5."
Just right for a comfortable, special evening. Attentive staff. Great half price bottle of wine the night we dined there recently. Wagyu Steak Frites entree was delicious, perfectly cooked and just the right size, neither overindulgent nor skimpy. And lovely souflee... need I say more??
It's always a pleasure coming to Maison Pucha, I've been coming for a while with my family and it was still great to come with just friend
Really like the brunch here, but service could improve. I had mentioned wanting a table to the side and we were celebrating 2 anniversaries, neither were acknowledged. Also, they got my order wrong and made no attempt to comp anything for the error. This place could be great if they just made a few changes in the service dept.
STOP! It’s a trap!! This place looks nice from the street but do not be fooled, it is completely awful. I honestly feel as though someone just stole $140 from my wallet. There are lots of great places to eat in The Heights but this is certainly not one of them.
Everything great, as always. Took some friends visiting from out of town
I highly reccomend this restaurant, the food is exceptional! Order the duck, you will not be disappointed. Also, the chefs chocolate souffle is so delicious. Very friendly staff.
As always, the food here is spectacular and the service impeccable. Chef Manual’s steak frites is perfect, the extra crispy fries, were melt in your mouth delicious. We shared the lemon mousse dessert, and besides being delicious was in an edible shell that looked like a lemon, what a beautiful presentation!
Great service and atmosphere. Large wine selection that is priced competitively to other venues.
We celebrated our anniversary with a lovely quiet dinner in a beautiful setting. The service was wonderfully slow so we could enjoy each course. Order the soufflé, saving room for the best chocolate dessert in Htown. We had the surf and turf. Delicious and enough of both to be able to enjoy. We will be back soon to work our way thru this excellent menu. Latin bites going on in June! Great opportunity to try Maison Pucha Bistro.
All just perfect (food and service) excellent recommendations from our waiter Jose
We celebrated a birthday on a wednesday night and the service and food was excellent. we totally recommend this restaurant to all foodies especially all HEIGHTS foodies and to those that need a new adventure in excellent food
Wonderful new addition to Houston's dining scene. Very interesting Ecuadorian take on some dishes but classical dishes such as Duck L'orange were superb. The service was excellent and the wine list was adequate.
