Loved the appetizers, onion soup croquettes and tuna crudo, and liked the mushroom tart. Really liked the monkfish, the roast chicken was disappointing. A little dry and nothing special.
Parking is an issue - food is good, and service was good.
Another wonderful meal. Creative and delicious!
Disappointing…..a poor attempt at deconstructing some French classics. Coq a vin…..totally unrecognizable and very little flavor. Chocolate mousse was the best thing we ordered. Just so disappointed given the rave reviews and hype
Always an outstanding experience at Maison!
The food was amazing. We loved the sophisticated take on French classics. Wine recommendations were outstanding with our food selections. Staff was attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to go back.
this was the second time we have been here and both times have been memorable. We brought a brother-in-law from Dallas and he said the monk fish (he doesn't eat much fish) might be the best entree he's ever had. Highly recommend Maison.
Food was consistently excellent and service was great
amazing food and service. The daily special (tuna crudo, pumpkin puree ) combined so many fresh, unique flavors. All entrees (coq a vin, steak frittes, rabbit pot pie) were perfectly prepared.
Maison is is not your typical French bistro. They offered numerous dishes that are typically found, but presented in very unique way -- especially the french onion "soup" and the coq a vin. We enjoyed all of our dishes and were impressed with the excellent service.
Fabulous food, service, and atmosphere
Vacation - first trip post covid
Loved Evan and Nate, and the Monkfish dinner that he chose for me!
Not sure why there were negative reviews. Our service was great, the waiter was very knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food is very creative but a bit rich so we could easily have share an entree. The chocolate mousse for dessert was divine! Wish I could have gotten a decaf cappuccino but they only had regular espresso.
Overall, a fabulous place!
Monkfish chop and the chicken were excellent. Service was excellent, and the courses were spaced correctly. Plus, Buffalo Trace was the house bourbon.
Incredible meal. Had the monkfish and chicken. Best of both ever.
Parking was terrible, especially for first time visitors Poor guidance on parking from phone calls. No after dinner chat from manager on our departure. Restaurant is 2 yrs old. Request fir quiet table was a table against a wall next to bathroom
Great place! Had the Wednesday burger special and the onion soup croquette. They had a nice and affordable wine selection. Our server was excellent!
Food and service were great. The Rabbit was amazing as was the onion soup croquette. The only downside was that we spent 20 minutes trying to find a parking space; we almost cancelled our reservation as a result. Very limited parking on site, dead end streets in not the best area behind the restaurant and permit parking on most of the streets across King. Otherwise, glad that we persevered.
Amazing. Everything was sooo delicious, definitely worth a visit.
Server was efficient but a bit aloof. One person at our table has low blood sugar but was unable to order any appetizer until we ALL ordered our COMPLETE meal. Once we got the appetizers, it took really long time to get our dinner. The menu is a bit limited and food was nice but not extra special. We've been before and have had a better experience. Hopefully this was a one time occurance. I'd like to say I'd recommend this restaurant to a friend but would have to try again before doing so.
Great food had a wonderful night will go back again and again.
Jonathan our waiter was just terrific . The food was clearly French bistro but with wonderful twists. With all of the great restaurants in Charleston, this one is definitely a top choice.
Incredible food and wonderful service.
great food, great drinks...fun time...always is...
Amazing French food and impeccable service
Food was fair, too much "stuff" included in each dish. If visiting Charleston, too many superior options
Place was awesome, service was nice, but the food was sub par for what they’re charging. Maybe we went there on an off night, but with all the other options in Charleston, I likely wouldn’t go back.
Good friends on from Connecticut. We wanted to bring them to our favorite. Maison did not disappoint.
I told them it was my husband’s birthday and our server, Mackenzie, brought us each a glass if champagne to celebrate! Food and service were great. We ordered foie gras torchon, leeks, roasted chicken, shrimp tart, green salad and madeleines! All great.
One of the best meals I have ever had! Our group of 4 ordered and shared most of the appetizers. The french onion soup croquette was phenomenal! We loved the tartare as well. I can't wait to go back!
Maison was an Uber for us visiting Charleston and staying in French Quarter. It was worth the trip! The Food was very good and the service was excellent. 3 diners - I had the Monkfish, my wife the Rabbit en Croute and my daughter the Steak Frites. Appetizers were the Steak Tartare and Endive Salad. All were outstanding. Server was first rate. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Even better than we remembered. Nice food choices. Very good French wine selections. service prompt, friendly and well-informed. We will be back soon.
Food was excellent and so was service.
Fabulous....enjoyed everything about this place! Highly recommend...
Sat at the bar and savored every second at Maison. The bar team was warm, engaging and came with all the recommendations. The cocktail and wines by the glass were great (chenin blanc). The food was everything I craved and more, classic reinvisioned, approachable decadence - French onion soup croquette, Foie Gras with Apples, Scallops will be something I crave long term and the Sous was kind enough to accommodate a pesky allergy and swapped the squash for a delightful cauliflower purée and Brussels, pea gratin was something else and delicious with a yolk my egg in the morning. Don’t sleep on the mousse for dessert either. Will certainly be back and requesting the bar.
We have been eating at Maison since they opened and we have never had a bad meal. We always look forward to Vandy's superlative cuisine.
Absolutely fantastic. Sat at the bar for happy hour - the french fries and $5 French 75s were delicious. Had the roast chicken dinner followed by the chocolate mousse. Both were fantastic - the chicken was the best I've ever had. Would eat there daily if I lived in Charleston.
The food was excellent but the menu is somewhat limited. Many French standards such as boulebase, coq au van, beef bourgenon are not on the menu, and no bread is served. Nonetheless,it’s a pleasant venue and the service is excellent.A bit pricey, however.
