   Oysters were delicious, Ribeye had great flavor but was slightly overcooked (I ordered mid rare & it was more of a medium). Service was very odd. Our server never asked if we'd enjoy an appetizer, dessert or anything else before we received our bill. He never checked back on our meal after it was delivered (he did a "walk by" a couple of times) & after we ordered an appetizer, he then proceeds to tell us they were out of 3 main dishes and ALL vegetable sides (all of which we tried to order - Filet, salmon, the bone in pork chop, Asparagus & Broccoli). We were at Harrahs 4 nights and NEVER saw this establishment busy. At all. Especially to be out of 3 main Entrées & on a Friday evening. We most likely will not return & this seemed to be the general consensus of numerous other guests. Very very overpriced menu, odd & lackluster service and to top it off they were out of everything.

   This was our fourth dining experience at Magnolia House inside of Harrahs Gulf Coast Hotel and it was exceptionally good! All of our previous dining experiences have been delicious and enjoyable but this time, on Wednesday, Oct. 3, it was an exceptional dining experience! Thanks to our server, Andrea, who provided excellent service as well as gave us insight on what was good on the menu. Iwe started off sharing a giant CrabCake appetizer, that was all fresh & delicious crab meat and then I enjoyed the mignonette filet topped with the ‘Oscar’ and my hubby had the seafood pasta(that had more seafood than pasta) both entrees were so delicious, the shrimp, crawfish, and crabmeat in the pasta were all cooked just right and the pasta sauce complimented the seafood as well as the pasta as the sauce was a light creamy tomato based, but not heavy! My filet was cooked just as I asked, medium… and the Oscar topping… omg, it had lots of fresh crabmeat (all yummy!) set on top of my filet, with my filet sitting on top of freshly whipped red potatoes with two delicious asparagus spears … the whole plate looked like a food network pix! We were seated in the far back dining room which we both enjoyed as this room is quieter than the other dining room. We also enjoyed as dessert (that we needed to take out & enjoy later) the yummy triple chocolate cake. A big thank you to Andrea and the entire Magnolia House staff for making our dinner so enjoyable.

   The food was okay. No one in my party was “impressed”. In fact, no one acknowledged the “birthday” we were celebrating and yet the table next to us had a slice of cake given to their person who was celebrating a birthday that same day! Insulting for me since I recommended this place! For $250 for 4 individuals, the fried catfish was really good but the bed of “chips” that accompanied the meal didn’t sit well with me! The smashed potatoes (which I ordered to accompany my fish since it only came with the chips) had some potato skins in it which I don’t like and I was t informed ahead of time by the server. Some of my guests enjoyed their dishes: the seafood pasta and the steak (well done; it came out about 4 sizes smaller than what we ordered). Overall, the dinner was okay, but my low rating was due to the lack of attention paid to my party and the catfish chips which I am not a fan of! Jazz was our server. She provided exceptional service, but said she didn’t know we were celebrating a birthday, which led me to believe the person who sat us at our table did not share the details placed in OpenTable (i.e., celebrating a birthday) with her, which has left a sour taste in my mouth for this establishment! Maybe they’ll do be more attentive in the future for someone else, but we will not be retuning to dine here.

   The filet was just ok. Nothing remarkable. They were out of many menu items. Dessert, bread pudding, was very nice.

   Seafood fettuccini was $49 and the pasta was not even homemade. The menu was a rip off in a room with no ambiance. Just terrible.

   Very cold in the restaurant. Smallest steak was 8oz. Too large of a portion for older diners. I wouldn't request the waitress we had. Moved to the bar where the atmosphere was much better, bartender was awesome. Her name started with a K, Kiley maybe.

    Very nice and enjoyable atmosphere. The filet was perfection. The baked potato and lobster Mac n cheese amazing. The catfish cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. The service we received from Andrea was perfect
