   My wife and I enjoyed dinner in the heated, enclosed patio with a river view. We had a delicious Caprise flatbread appetizer. The wife had fish tacos and I had prime rib with jasmine rice. It was all done well. We shared a bottle of Juggernaut cab that was very good and reasonably priced. Wendy was personable and efficient throughout. She made recommendations and was responsive while allowing our dinner to proceed at our desired pace. We’ll be back!

   We came here for my brothers birthday. It was a nice intimate dinner. The server Daniel went above and beyond. Unfortunately I left my iPhone charger there. Will come back.

   This was our second time coming to Madigans. I must say I was severely disappointed. The service was terrible the waitress was new and she seemed like she had zero training.(not her fault) We ordered the crab app and wings and quesadillas which were all fine. But when it came to the entrees that was a different story. We ordered the big fish which was supposed to be a haddock filet but it turned out to be a Gordon’s Fish patty. It was awful. But the manager was nice about it and took it back. I regretfully will not be returning

    The menu prices were out of date, service was poor (had to wait for silverware after food was served), the food was mediocre, the portion were large, outside seating was nice, things were clean & the wait staff was engaging.

    Cold and unpalatable food. Much of seafood was out of stuck. Restroom is dirty and the overall restaurant looks like any other hole in a wall and not as an upscale restaurant they position it.

    We arrived early and restaurant was quiet. We had requested outdoor table and understood it was based on availability. There were tables available but were told waitlist is 45 minutes. After being seated we watched as people walked straight down and seated from off the street. Waitress was pleasant and took our order. The food was tasty but long gaps from appetizer to entree. Rarely saw waitress, no refills on drinks or just a check in.

    Food was good overall. Service was extremely slow. Cigarette smoke from the outside bar blew over to our table which was unexpected but not much we could do about it.

    Arrived right at opening with a reservation, we asked for seating outside and it was perfect. Covered patio seating and fans kept us comfortable. Overlooked the river, great summer ambiance seeing lots of folks kayaking. Ordered crab variety appetizer (lots of crab and lots of cheese, good if you are into cheese lol) also oysters in half shell (fresh and delish!) steak salad and fish and chips. Banana choc cake for dessert. Also super bloody marys. First time there and will be back!

    Madigan's restaurant is probably the largest restaurant in historic downtown Occoquan. A big plus besides the size (they can accommodate more people) is the fact that they take reservations. The other restaurants in downtown are small and don't take reservations. It's right on the waterfront so there's a nice view and you can sit outside on the patio if the weather is nice. Our server was very nice. We ordered mostly brunch items so we can't say what the rest of the menu is like. We liked our crab benedict and crab omelet but the crab alfredo had way too much sauce and not enough pasta or crab. Still, we'd go back for the view! Another big plus is there are lots of inside tables so you can sit in the a/c if you don't want to sit on the patio. Would recommend

    Delicious seafood, though didn't see the "steak" part of the "seafood and steak restaurant" advertised. Not a real complaint though as the seafood was phenomenal. Very quiet but it was a Tuesday, the bar has the look of a place that can get pretty lively, while the dining area was surprisingly well-appointed. Service was very good and ensured our needs were met without being overbearing. It's not *cheap* but not overpriced either. Definitely a worthwhile choice for a seafood night, especially the full boil and poke bowl.

    Overall mediocre at best. During a non-busy time we waited over 20 minutes for a server to arrive. Avocado toast contained surprisingly little avocado. We won’t be returning.

    We were celebrating life!! With all respect I just believe service could’ve been better; from picking the table for us, (accommodation) to the service itself; but food was good and not loud. My husband and I go often for our date nights, get together with other couples often and we love it & recommend it a lot. I’d like this to be the “to go place” for my girls and I. Overall, one of the best places to have a very good experience.

    I enjoyed my meal. I got a stuffed Flounder which was excellent. The sides were great. My husband ordered a medium rare Filet Mignon. It came out well-done. Our server kept forgetting about our requests. When our drinks came out they were not filled all the way. We didn't have silverware at the table. Server kept forgetting about our 2 year Olds drink. I think when you have a reservation, the table should be set with silverware before the arrival of the guests. As I was looking forward to this and reserved it a whole week prior. When we asked about a regular menu, our server gave us a bit of an attitude because we reserved for valentines day weekend therefore we didn't have a choice but to get the special which was $75!! I enjoyed the food but nothing went as expected. My husband didn't seem to care for his entree but loved the crab chowder soup. I believe if we had a different server our experience would of been better. Our server seemed rude, in a hurry, and very forgetful.

    First time here but heard lots of good from others, not disappointed. Food was excellent and service was great. Bar service was slow, especially given so few customers. Minor point, mentioned wife's birthday as occasion on the app but no comment by anyone at restaurant, would have just been bonus points otherwise outstanding.

    It wasn’t the worst, but I won’t ever go back. Food was alright, not terrible, but weird flavor combos and clearly the chef didn’t have much experience. I had the scallops over pesto—scallops were over cooked, and the pesto was all over the scallops and completely overtook the delicate flavor of the scallops. I had the seasonal bread pudding for dessert: apple, walnut, cinnamon. When it came out the slice of bread pudding was on top of a pool of Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Not only was it poor quality, chocolate is all wrong for that flavor profile. The part that really got me though, was after we were served dessert our waiter completely stopped coming by. We finished dessert and waited for the check. I put my plate at the edge of the table and he swooped by and took it but no check. We waited and waited and waited. I went to ask the host if he could find our waiter so we could get our check. He was nice about it, went to the back and said it would be just a minute. Fifteen minutes later we got our check! By the time we got our check from the time our dessert plates were cleared: 25 minutes! I want to make it clear, there were only two other parties in the entire dining section! While we were waiting the restaurant turned from fine dining to low class bar! At 9pm a terrible band started, way too loud in the restaurant section so my husband and I couldn’t even talk to one another and the I think the patrons in the bar were clearly either already drunk or on drugs. We aren’t going back!

    Madigan’s has a great atmosphere overlooking the water. We sat in the enclosed patio which was decorated for Christmas and very festive. They even had a fire table, which we sat right next to! It was warm and homey. We would come back for the atmosphere! Service was very timely, but our waitress didn’t know the answers to our questions. Instead of checking with someone, she made up answers that were not correct. She under quoted the cost of the special and said the piano player came on every Thurs - Sun at 8pm. We discovered later that it is only Saturdays at 9pm. My husband had the pasta that was like a jambalaya and he thought it was very tasty. I had the special, which was salmon topped with crab. It was expensive and underwhelming. The crab was a smashed down, very thin coating on the fish. No lumps at all. It had good seasoning to it, but there was no sauce or anything else so it was kind of bland when eating some bites of fish without the seasoned crab. Garlic mashed were too creamy and tasted like they came out of a box. May be a better place to enjoy drinks and apps.

    Decided to give this place a try and were severely underwhelmed. The food was mediocre bar food at best. i ordered the wedge salad and was impressed that a salad could taste so bad. the crab chowder tasted like they had just reheated it in the microwave but not even enough to heat it all the way through. my daughters chicken nuggets were something i would never buy at home - even the ones we buy taste like real chicken! it's a nice restaurant and has a lot of potential but we will never eat here again. it was not worth it at all.

    Made a reservation with my wife for a casual weeknight out. We were greeted and seated right away, which was nice given that the restaurant was empty (maybe that’s the norm for a weekday dining, first time here). We were also told about the specials for the evening. So far so good. We decided to order the Tropical Crab Stack and Fried oysters for starters. When our server came to take our order, only then were we told there was no fried oysters available. No biggie, stuff happens. So we replaced the fried oyster for Shrimp cocktail. Few minutes later, we got the tropical crab stack order, but was told that the shrimp cocktail was also unavailable. (Hint: would be nice if staff knew what’s available for the evening and what is not available, especially given that it was a quiet evening with virtually no one dinning in given the amount of space and tables that were open! For our entree, we ordered crab legs (seasonal) with sides of fries and coleslaw. Let’s just say the crab legs were too Luke warm, soggy, sticky, and pretty much unappetizing. The coleslaw had so much mayo it was really disgusting. We also ordered the Tuna crab special for the night, which was crab over tuna fillet and two sides…so we order garlic mashed potatoes and Cesar salad for sides. The garlic mashed potatoes was too cold, we just took few bites and left it. The Cesar salad was ok, actually my wife thought it was the best food out of everything we had It’s understandable that due to covid, restaurants are short staffed and errors with orders are bound to happen. But being told certain items are unavailable (when we could’ve been told ahead of time), being told another item is unavailable (after we have ordered it), pretty much ruined the whole experience, not to mention the price wasn’t really worth it compared to other seafood restaurants in the area. Nonetheless, our server was nice, and the waterfront view was also great. Live 2 miles away, but don’t think I’ll come back again!

    Our first hostess made us wait 40 minutes to be seated (while patio tables were freely given before our eyes) and then she left - also disregarding our treat request for my daughter’s birthday! Our second host seated us immediately. He and most specially our server (Kaniya) made all the effort and provided us with excellent great service. Very unfortunate to give a low rating to a nicely placed restaurant, with live music and views.

    You should eliminate Open Table as an option for dining at Madigan's Waterfront. I made a reservation on Saturday Sept 5th for the following evening. When arriving I was told there were no inside tables and everyone was being seated outside. Because I made an outside reservation I was told I would be moved up from the 45 minute wait time. Our party had to wait an excessive amount of time for wait help. I had to go to the hostess to complain. We were seated in the dining area on pillowed seats awaiting a table. When the hostess told us we had to move, she ended putting us at a table next to where we were waiting, but told us it would be a while before we were provided service. The young man who ended up helping us was considerate and as helpful as possible. Until the service is improved and the restaurant is able to fully open, I would not recommend Madigan's for dining.

    It was our anniversary and we dressed a little nicer, but outside seating being at a boat dock and paddle board rental, everyone else was dressed more casual, which was fine. The food and service were very good.
