Macesz Bistro is an Eastern European bistro in the Old Jewish district of Budapest. It offers the hidden and well known treasures of the Hungarian and Jewish cuisines, with traditional and reimagined courses for their guests. The continuously updated menu is ensured by chef Ákos Tasnádi, beyond the á la carte assortment the daily offer’s seasonal specialties diversify the selection.

We take great care of assembling the wine list, offering from the best domestic wineries with some specialities.

We reopened Macesz after the pandemic in the spring of 2022. We can not wait to meet again our haunters and new guests as well.

The restaurant is suitable for exclusive events with up to 60 people as well.

Macesz Bistro is one of the most exciting culinary spots in downtown Budapest, an excellent choice for a romantic dinner, a family lunch or a business meeting.

This place never lets you down. Nostalgic feel, good quality food and excellent service. An excellent option for those you want to experience Hungarian and jewish cuisine. Excellent value ! Not a tourist trap and not very priced !

Quel bonheur d’avoir découvert ce restaurant ! Nous étions un groupe de 8 personnes et fêtions l’anniversaire d’un ami ! Un foie gras exceptionnel en entrée, accompagné d’un chutney d’abricots secs et d’un verre de Tokay, a ravi tous les convives. Le jarret d’agneau cuit à la perfection et ses pommes de terre crémeuses, ont continués l’enchantement. Le service y est parfait et sympathique. Le cadre de ce restaurant est à l’image de ses plats : élégant, raffiné et original ! Nous ne pouvons que recommander ce magnifique restaurant !

The food and service is absolutely to recommend. Well matched menus with good wine recommendations from the waiter. Consistent noise level, because the restaurant was fully booked on this Saturday evening. Everything else was to our full satisfaction. Bookkin absolutely recommended.

There were 5 of us, the restaurant was pleasant, service great. A busload of tourists arrived, and the noise level increased, making conversation difficult. Otherwise, everything was great

Great atmosphere - interesting mix of Hungarian and Jewish dishes - good flavours - but the dishes could have been executed with a little more finesse, particularly the goose which had not been reheated particularly well
