Ma'am Saab, meaning "boss lady" in Urdu, is a lively restaurant in Charleston that showcases the authentic flavors of Pakistan. Located in the historic district, it offers a unique dining experience that blends traditional Pakistani cuisine with Southern charm.

At Ma'am Saab, you'll feel transported to the vibrant streets of Lahore and Karachi. The menu features a variety of dishes, including aromatic curries, flavorful biryanis, tender kababs, and epic street food.

Must-try dishes include Butter Chicken, a creamy tomato and spice-infused delight; Lamb Biryani (secret menu item and limited quantities each night), fragrant rice with braised lamb cooked to perfection; Chicken Karahi, tender chicken traditionally prepared in a spicy tomato sauce; and Taj-e-Sabzi, a vegetarian favorite with seasonal vegetables prepared with love.

Could o Lu get counter reservation but still has great experience. Friendly service, fast food delivery and just the right anoint of checking on us. Butter Chicken with rice is amazing!! We shared that and the zucchini fritters and it was plenty for 2 people. Big screen of what I assume are Pakistan scenes made for a great experience.

This restaurant had the only Pakistani food I've had so far. For a first Pakistani meal this was great and very enjoyable. While a little on the expensive side, the prices are in line with many of the other restaurants in the Charleston area.

Five great appetizers and butter chicken, with 2 rice dishes, 2 breads..... Made a lovely meal for 4 people. Service was C level. Never got the wine bucket we asked for three times over the 2 bottles of wine we had on a hot evening.... And the bartender was almost rude while explaining the French rose on the menu was substituted by a Spanish cava. It was weird, maybe he was joking, but it was off-putting. But food made up for it and we'd likely go again. This was my 4th time there and food was by far the best.

The food was very good, spicy and flavorful without being over bearing. There was a lot of left overs so for value it's also reasonable because it's most certainly two meals or a shared meal.

We were not happy with the special event we attended on 5/28/25. Sadly the experience impacts our overall opinion of the restaurant. We love Malika Cafe in Mt Pleasant but we aren’t likely to return to Mama Saab.

Worst service we have ever had in Charleston in 17+ years. We never got our food after over an hour. The hostess refused to help facilitate getting service from our waiter who totally ignored us. Don’t know if this was due to some sort of prejudice or just bad training.

This was our first visit to Ma’am Saab. It won’t be our last. The the food was fabulous. The portions were very generous. The ambiance is subtle and relaxing.
